  • Re: Helmets

Ever since I bought this helmet I've been cursing myself for purchasing an ill fitting helmet. But now I know I'm not the only one suffering. [emoji16]

I wear prescription glasses as well and feel the ear pinching pain during long rides. On 500+km rides it becomes unbearable. :-(

I remember seeing a DIY/hack sort of video on YouTube a few days back where someone suggested using rubber bands to create a channel for the eye glasses' stems on both sides. I'll try it out this weekend and see if something like that helps with the pain.

If I reach in and straighten my ears, they start hurting coz there is not much space and they start pinching against the edges. The shape of the inner part of helmet is such that there is not much space for ears. I thought after 2 years, it would have gone away but not so. The only solution I have found is to remove the helmet once an hour while on long rides and massage the ears.
    Btw, I wear spectacles too.
Any solution would be helpful since the helmet is very good, apart from high wind noise above 100 kmph

I always wear a head scarf or a balaclava and have no problems with my ears. Since the cloth/material are bit smooth, the helmet just slides down over my ears.
Wind in my hair.... and I'm semi bald...

So, between the Studds Shifter and the Studds Thunder (new launch, apparently), which is a better helmet?

Guys need a suggestion. My doctor has advised me to wear a lighter helmet. Currently I have a Vega Boolean which weighs 1.5 Kgs. I had it tested on my weighing scale. Can you please suggest a good full face helmet which is 1Kg or less than 1 Kg. It should offer good full face protection. It need not have vents for air flow and my primary requirements are light weight and very good full face protection.

Can you please suggest some models that I can buy?

I felt shifter better, except the chin curtain on thunder is a good addition.

Check out studds chrome economy and studds professional. Though they sacrifice much on protection, but tip the scale around a kg.

Are there non Studds/Steelbird/Vega helmets which weigh about 1 KG or less than 1 KG? Any imported brands that I can look at.

Why don't you take a look at the MT snake carbon fiber helmet. As you can understand, being a CF helmet it's super light and super rigid though will be a bit of a pocket pinch.

                    Hi all

I planned to upgrade my helmet and my budget is strictly 5k. Mostly daily city commute and occasional touring.
                    My choices are

                    Mt mugello
                    Axxis draken
                    Axor rage Ecco
                    Smk stellar

Help me to choose best one.

Why not SMK or Axor? Can you please explain? I'm looking to upgrade my Vega off-road helmet. I'm confused by the number of options. My budget is 4k

Don't know about the others but SMK stellar is good. Although it does not offer an internal sun visor, it comes with a pinlock 30 anti-fog visor. Extremely useful in rainy weather at crawling speeds. I have been using mine for a year now. The build quality is good but not comparable to a LS2 or MT.

Can someone suggest me a decent helmet under 4k. I'm looking at Smk twister or any other alternative in axor?

Get SMK Stellar, beautiful lid for that price and comes with free Pinlock 30 sheet installed. Goodluck.

Can we fit intercom in it? Does it have inner sun visor? Can the visor be changed? Like with fog rain protection?
