I bought an all white AGV (size 60) lid last week for 1900Rs @ Chennai. My two previous lids were all colorful so decided to go plain jane for a change. I am also thinking of buying some permanent markers (the white may not be white for long) for me to create tatoos on the lid.

    My Previous lids
    MPA - very old now
HJC - excellent! but sourcing visors in india is tough (relying on friends )

Hi as per what i have noticed in dirt bike events, the off road helmets do not have visors..instead the riders use goggles(of course those which are meant for riding)....plus these offroad helmets are not meant for high speed racing/mile munching because of the stability factor...whereas the regular race/street helmets are much more stable at high speeds, have visors n i guess have a harder shell(not sure)

Nowadays almost all of the offroad helmets are SNELL/DOT approved so the protection is no different. The main difference in the helmets is function. Street helmets are designed to be very aerodynamic and streamlined. When the rider is in a tuck at high speeds the airflow is directed up over the top of the helmet and down the riders back. If a rider were to wear an off road helmet on their streetbike they would be limited to how fast they could go the visor would catch alot of air resistance and actually lift the riders head.
The visor on an offroad helmet serves as extra protection to the rider from roost. The goggles form a seal around the riders face to keep dust out of the riders eyes. If a rider were to wear a street helmet while riding motocross. The lack of goggles would cause sweat to get into the riders eyes and would fog up the face shiled, not to mention dust would get inside the helmet.

                also
It's not a style thing. Its a function of usage. Riding a dirt bike is a very physical thing. You get sweaty. Even on a really cold day. A face shield will have your face sweaty in a minute. Goggles are necessary to keep the dirt out of your face, esp. if you are behind someone else. Ever seen a "rooster tail"?

Some street riders wear goggles with a full face helmet. they've been hit right in my goggles many times by bugs that feel more like schrapnel than a bug. They are also usefull as sunglasses.

Those little sun visors on dirt bike helmets are handy. They keep the sun out of your eyes. They can be used as a shield to protect your face from getting blasted by another rider. You know why most street riders don't wear them? They catch in the wind and will pull (snap) your head back at high speed.

There aren't many things to wear when riding a dirt bike that make you look "cool" other than maybe a flashy jersey with a lot of patches on it. If you've ever been in a motorcross race you will be covered with mud on the first lap anyway. Its about protection. From mud, rocks, foot pegs, trees, other bikes, and their favorite: "endos".

                hope this helps

yes in fact its much for need here ..... our great indian roads n barriers...mind u the cows, peeing pedestrians, loafer dogs ....... lack of sign boards.....

usually at night rides, a communication set will alertly help us keep warned bout the further riding conditions where it becomes difficult at night to judge hand signs
