Others? Don't get me started... Nolan, Axo, Shark, Suomy, Bell.. are other brands which come to my mind immediately along with HJC, Scorpion (haven't seen many guys using this)

^^Ask him to carry a couple of visors along if it will be a bother to ship them back in.
Yeah! HJC is a nice brand, but seems like they don't have a good graphic designing team.

Unfortunately, I'm yet to see anyone sell/ wear any of the helmets of the other brands you've mentioned. Don't want to end up with the wrong size helmet, so I guess I will have to keep these on the backburner till I find someone who wears/ sells one of them.

Yeah! I like the Scorpion Tsunami a lot.
Will look out for the others, but like I mentioned, ordering the right size will be dicey.

    • Hi All

I'm looking for AGV helmet. However, did not find in Chennai and was told that MPA stopped manufacturing AGV. May be some old stock lying with the dealers.

I was able to find one shop and he had one AGV however, in bad shape. He told me that he had not kept in display since it is not a good piece. See how what takes me to have a look at AGV in chennai.

I might be slightly towards AGV helmets whereas the dealer showed couple other brands. To name few LS2 and Cross. LS2- dragon theme he was giving some good discounts and there was also a plain black.
Cross - there was two models. The first one he showed me was normal white base with black stripe kind of theme. The other one was interesting.. it was like Vega boolean where we can open the face of the helmet upward for any quick conversation etc. rather than removing the entire helmet.
      I found it good.

Experts give me advise if I should go for AGV hunt or settle for LS2 or Cross. The other helmets displayed were MPA, GPR, Vega, Steelbird Bieffe etc.

      L2- felt heavy
Cross- not much difference from L2 in terms of weight.
The unsuable AGV was much lighter than the above.

Measure your head size, (from the back to the temple), PRS did this and my size was 54 which equals to size S.

@motofreak--You won't find anything good even in Calcutta/Delhi, you got to go to Bombay/Pune/Bangalore.

          • I bought myself a Sparx torino today. I had went to check out the ls2 phobia at chopra but he didn't have it so went to mahalaxmi, he had the phobia but then the sales guy showed me the sparx torino and it felt much better than the phobia so bought this instead.

            costed me 4.3k

4.3K for SparX? Is it authentic?

PRS Bombay is the sole distributor for SparX in India and they supply to Orion Motors in Banagalore and perhaps to no one else.

                    The range starts from 6.5K.

Seems authentic enough to me..........any ways to verify that??

Yeah I went with augusta (rohit nagdewani), he told me that MG has the same and it's supposed to be very good. Although I'd looked at just the LS2 dragon/phobia for 3-3.5 around abouts, but with the response I'm getting from you guys, seems like the extra grand was worth it

Most probably "Damn, I could've used that extra 2 grands for a trip to the hills"

                            • I had picked up my new Arai around a month ago and have already done almost 1000 kms of riding wearing it, but I guess it is never too late to post pictures and a small write-up.

It is Arai's best street helmet - the Corsair V, an update to the RX-7. While the model is brand new, I got a great discount from ridersdiscount.com since this John Hopkins race replica edition had to be updated because of Hopkins changing team. So I got a $800+ helmet for $479 which included one smoked visor as well! I already had an Arai Astro TR (Quantum II) but since that was around four years old, it was time for a new lid!

I am an Arai fan because of my old helmet, and nothing can beat Arai when it comes to comfort. Personally, I don't believe that a $800 helmet can offer significantly more protection than a $300-500 helmet, but where the Corsair V scores is quality, and it oozes tons of it. Be it the perfect graphics paint job or the overall finish, very few helmets come close.

The Corsair V has the regular bells and whistles you'd expect to find in a top drawer helmet - twin visor vents, 8 vents on the main shell, 100% detachable lining and neck roll, and a wind deflector when you keep the visor in de-misting mode. Add to that a chin spoiler too and scratch bumper on the shell which prevents scratches by the visor movement. There is also a new feature in form of a multiple position rear spoiler which claims to improve aerodynamics. But I am not a pro-rider, so I did not feel any difference, even at 130+ speeds. But from my experience on a 700+ overnight trip to Ooty, I can vouch that the helmet fits like a glove (I am 61-62 XL) and offers great peripheral vision.

And it is breezy as wearing no helmet at all - the 8 vents take care of that!

Is there something I don't like about the helmet? Besides being terribly expensive, I hate Arai's visor removal system. While it does not require tools apart from your hands, the whole assembly sounds like there are 100 pieces breaking inside every time you change the visor. I've owned an Arai for 5 years, and I still can't get used to it.

The Helmet is noisy too because of the vents - while air circulation is excellent, the same vents make an howling loud enough to cause temporary deafness. Glad I wear earplugs!

But boy, it is a perfect match for my Lime green Kawasaki Ninja 250R!

Didn't take the box as I was having too much riding gear and too less carrying space, No accessories with it.
