                • Met a Sardarji at a local mechanic shop today..Looking at my helmet (LS2 Speed) he instantly asked me that, how much did I pay for it.On knowing the price,he claimed this is not DOT certified and is not ORIGINAL LS2

I showed him the ECE moniker but he won't listen..He was constantly saying,'NOT CERTIFIED,NOT CERTIFIED"..

I was flabbergasted by the kind of argument going and left!

Now,Do we have a DOT certified stamp-esque thing in our helmets (all LS2 owners)? Mine just have a sticker which says three things-ECE,Size of the helmet and weight!
If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!

the first gen cross helmets available(imported from Thailand) used to have DOT certification..
Don't know about the current lot.. I too haven't seen DOT on LS2s

Even my LS2 has only ECE sticker. AFAIK the LS2 helmets are not DOT certified. I wouldnt argue with such guys anyways and i dont think he was right.

according to the LS2 website they have both DOT and ECE ceritfied helmets.the former for the US market and the later for the european market.however i have a problem with the LS2 available here in India- according to regulations the safety sticker on the helmet should never be a sticker it should be embrossed /printed on it so that it cant be tampered with.here i have seen some early LS2 which had DOT printed on it, however these days all LS2 comes with ECE sticker, even the CROSS comes with the same ECE sticker.i know i cant vouch for the genuineness of LS2 being sold here but the price was tempting and it felt well made when you compare it to Indian brands besides i returned to the city 2 days before the helmet rule for the pillion was to be implemented in my city,so i didnt had time ,picked up one thats fits the best.now saving up for a genuine helmet from a reputed manufacturer. Iam looking at Sparx, Rjays ,scorpion and HJC.

a few things i have observed with the new LS2, the newer ones are lighter than the older ones ,the newer ones weigh 1300gms compared to 1500 gms in the older version.there is slight difference in the cheek pad design between the two models, the newer model tapers more on the posterior side.the chin area/bar is significantly smaller on the newer version.the breath deflector on the newer LS2 is larger.rest of the things are more or less the same. pls note that this comparision was done between two FF350 models,.
