  • Good to know. Probably people who would want to own an AGV at a budget would go for it (Me included! ). Also any online stores that stock these? I don't think we can shop online from Auto Queen.

I think AutoQueen would be willing to send the helmet across to Madras. Give him a call and check.

Was flipping through Top Gear magazine and saw an advert for Nolan helmets. I guess there is somebody in Bombay who is officially importing them now. Not sure about prices though. Will put up the details soon. Good to see more availability of good helmets in India. Hopefully dealers will come up in other parts of the country as well.

          • Need advice for new helmet

            Hi All,

I am new to helmet world (Till now the brands i knew were Studds, vega, steel bird etc) so please forgive my ignorance.
I am planning to buy a new helmet and would request you guys to give some advise on brand as well as model.
            My requirements are listed below:
            1. Should be of good brand (i am a brand hog )
            2. Color should be black (matt finish preferable) with minimal graphics
            3. Less noise at high speed
            4. Should not be heavy
            5. Budget: lesser the better but could stretch to 6K (and a little beyond).
            6. Full face with clear visor

Also are there any helmets that reduce the glare of oncoming traffic?
Or is there any screen or film (polaroid) that can be applied?

I am from bangalore so what are the places where i can buy the suggested helmets and their approx cost.

            Thanks in advance.

            Regards

they quoted 3.5k initially but when I said its available for 2.7k in Cochin they agreed for 2.7k...should've told a lesser amount

                • Can anybody tell me about GPR Helmets? I mean, is this brand a reliable one or just another ordinary(kinda fake) brand?

I Saw it on Chopra's @ Karol Bagh and liked it. But never heard about it. I called Mr. Himanshu (xBhp team) and he told that he knows this brand, have seen many people using it in Mumbai and he himself is looking for one of them. What if I go for it?

GPR was one of the first 'branded' helmets that came into the Indian market quite a while back (long before the arrival of LS2 and Cross). At that time it was only the GPR and MPA AGVs that were available for the discerning buyer. The helmets are pretty good (check the certification) though they havent been coming into the market for a long time now so its probably old stock that has been lying around. Demand is negligable and you should be able to get it for less than 2 k. Bargain hard cause its inventory that will not move for the shopkeeper given the fascination for the newer helmets.

                    • hey guys,

I got LS2 Girl Mat/cartoon (you can be brave and safe - white model) from bangalore(lalbagh road) last saturday.

One thing I noticed is that the aluminium/metal mesh vent at the back side is rusted in most of them.

Since I loved the helmet, I went ahead and bought it. Do other owner's experience the same kinda rusting?. And can anything be done about it like using sandpaper?.

                      Price - 2700

This is a good helmet for city ride only.. feels like a normal helmet not as comfy like LS2 vega or nuvo.. it vibrates very badly at above 100kmph .. personal experience ...

Scorpion helmets are good, they are fog free (works for most of the time) and have good ventilation. I have the EXo-400 which is a tad heavy, but not that bad.

                            quite surprising.
                            People please advise.
I saw an HJC helmet in orion and they quoted 7K and were ready to give 5% discount. While on the other hand when i visited the Helmet paradise (in front of Urvashi theatre, lalbag) they said that they can get me HJC helmet for 6K. They had LS2's as well and i liked the defogger of one i tried but some how the quilt quality of HJC felt better. I felt that HJC are a little bigger and so have a little extra space to absorb the impact.

In lalbagh area what is the percentage of bargain in their quoted prices?

                            Thanks in advance.

HJC is a much better helmet, IMHO. I reckon you should go for it. Also, get a helmet which a snug fit, because helmets tend to loosen up on usage.
Another brand that I'd recommend in your budget is Sparx. They too make really VFM helmets.
