Guys any of you who have used credit cards to shop online on US website please answer this.

I just enquired at hdfc credit cards who said that for any foreign purchase there is a mark up fee ( or currency conversion fee) @ 3.5 %

For ex. for a item costing to Rs.5000 after conversion Rs.175 will be charged as mark up fee

Further there will be a charge of 10.30 % on this mark up fee i.e. rs.17.

Can any of you confirm for the same??

I know that .I had purchased a dell laptop some 2 years back & that time had charged too.

But upon enquiring from srinath & animeher ,both said that they didn't pay any of these charges

I use Paypal for all my International shopping and its hassle free,no changes for up to certain limit (forgot the free limit amount, i guess its 500$ ) .

Standard chartered Titanium card does not charge you any fee for up to 10,000 Rs for International shopping .

I have a Paypal account but thats empty.How do I put money in that account?Do I need to link my CC to it.Wouldn't it be the same case then...cause they will charge the CC for the transaction done using paypal?

i am not sure about Scoyco.. haven't heard of this brand before!! A suggestion from your end or anyone in this thread would be really helpful

Hi i am really confused between Joe Rocket, RJays and now Scoyoco. Joe Rocket Phoenix 5.0 is around 10k in mumbai (Performance Racing Store), RJays Military jacket: 7.5k (Bachoo motors)

or should i directly order from New Enough sells motorcycle jackets, helmets, gloves, luggage, tires, parts, etc. :: New Enough ?? any idea if the customs creates any trouble when the shipment hits the Indian shores?

i am not sure about Scoyco.. haven't heard of this brand before!! A suggestion from your end or anyone in this thread would be really helpful

I have bought all my riding jackets(3 in total) from New Enough .

All them of reached me(India) in six working days.

The first 2 jackets the customs did not charge me anything. I assuming because the were below 100$

The 3rd jacket was above 250$ and the custom charged me 800Rs for it.
The amount was collected buy postman who delivered the package.

Also since you ordered through newenough the international shipping charges are quite high compared to other sites??

Just tried accessing the Cramster website, Im getting the following message from Google - Warning - visiting this web site may harm your computer !

Need help with picking riding boots. Had decided on the Rjays Urban Boots but it appears that there is no stock of my size left (44) anywhere. The H20 is also not available in my size in Orion. Are Joe Rocket boots available anywhere in Blore? The only other option left for me is Cramster. Reviews from anyone who has picked them up recently?

Alternatively does anyone know when new stock of the RJays will arrive ? Im willing to wait for the Urban Boots because they suit my requirements.

I've also tried to purchase from International websites using my Stan-chart card. Those shops were asking for an address proof (like Driving licence,Passport), to be sent to them thru Fax.

My problem was that all of those official documents are in my Old address. So all transactions were rejected...

Did u face similar problems with New enough?

In Paypal you can add a Bank A/c like adding a CC . Just make sure your Bank A/c name and Paypal A/c are the same.

Only Standard chartered Titanium card is free upto 10k
Just remembered AMEX gold card charges no fee for any amount.

Also since you ordered through newenough the international shipping charges are quite high compared to other sites??

If you are buying single jacket New Enough shipping charges are fine.

If you buying more than one than they work out expensive.


My friend in the US had sent me a jacket bought through revzilla through USPS he had to pay 68$ for shipping it to India.(Customs did not charge any tax and arrived in 6 working days )

One time he had sent 2 jackets, Gloves and lot of goodies(key chins,sticker..etc) and paid a shipping charge of 74$ through USPS .(Customs did not charge any tax and arrived in 6 working days)

In New enough for international orders they do accept credit card you can only pay through Pay pal .

Last i checked, cramster stopped making their boots. Why not buy online? There are many other options.

They have. But they seemed to have enough stock na. One might even land up with a stockk-clearance discount.
