    @aargee, kaynmantis and Satyen,

Thanks guys.. I sort of liked thw rjays for its features too.. Only thing was that it did not look that great when I saw it.. I ll go to a shop and check it out w.r.t weight etc... Am also glad that the Octane is a good Summer Jacket...
RJays products are really gud, I just took a RJays Edge boot and its worth it, really sturdy and 100% water proof and also 100% breathable, only thing is you cannot use it elsewhere except for riding

      Hi Ramesh,

Buying waterproof boots may sound good, but i found out that they are not suitable for chennai climate (if it's not raining).

I'm using Alpinestars Web-GoreTex waterproof boots for the past 3 months. They get extremely hot after an hour of riding (i'm talking about early morning rides) ... I have to remove them frequently to let my feet breathe...

It would be wise to buy boots with lots of vents (for our Chennai climate... )

        How much does it cost?

Interesting. I use balaclava mostly on hot days . it helps greatly against sweat and keep the helmet dry and fresh. Besides it also helps against wind noise and dust. I can barely survive without them. Got three of them and keep on changing them as one is washed.

Though now, weather is becoming somewhat cooler and I often ride without them as I feel Mumbai does not become cool enough at any time unless there is some freak weather blasting cool air that lasts for a couple of days. Don't listen to me though .

          • I am planning to purchase knee guard and have budget of around 2k...

Went to the orion motors in bangalore and saw alpinestar bonic which is presently way above my budget(5.2k) and saw another from alpinestar which was 3k , did not like it that much...

He also had the fox one , but was selling it with the arm guard for 3k.... as i already have a DSG nero with me... the arm protection is not needed...

I also inquired some shop in jc road which was telling me the FOX knee guard would come at 1750 and AXO would be 2250....

NEED Suggestions on the shop where i can buy reasonable good knee gaurd?

i am not planning to go with the cramster as one of my friend (n_aditya) has had a bad experience with it...

Also wanted to know whether they will scratch the tank of my ninja or not.... or what is the best way to use them...
            RIP Marco

Sorry cannot help with your knee guard queries, But would love to hear what happened to your friend regarding cramster knee guard. You see, I use one.

Cramster bionic knee guard has exposed metal rivets in the joints. They have the tendency of scratching the tank, especially if you have the habit of hugging the tank with your knees. I solved the problem by gluing pieces of round tyre tubes exactly the size of the rivets.

What is best way to use them?
It works best on the knees. Or
Spread your legs wide apart while riding.
Just Kidding. If other knee guards have no such rivets, there is no reason why it should scratch the tank.

Wrote to Cramster regarding this issue. Got prompt reply saying they are addressing the issue and newer models will come with rubber covered rivets. Don't know if they actually did. Anyway I should have patented it .

he purchased the cramster, which turned out to be a crapster the next day itself...

he had joined us for the nandi hills ride and on the midway , one of the rivets went missing... the whole of the journey he was adjusting his knee guard...
he went back to the shop , had his full money refunded back .

Are you sure? I bought a set of Colt Saddlebags from Cramster just to experiment and they didn't seem to fit on my Ninja. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? Hmmmm...

                      Welcome.

Gawd! Must have been a sight. Maybe he should have tied it by putting a wire/rope/thread through the holes, Anyway I may be lucky. Mine is still as good as new and its been more than a year now. Anyway I'm looking for a new one. Just git a little tired of wearing the same one. Saw some good looking bionic with double rivets on the Internet. Besides they look as though they would provide better bending mechanism than the single rivets as in Cramster. Trying to figure out how to get one .

you wont get original fox guards /armour in india for such a low price..

                            Buddy,

Though I have no complaint with Cramster myself whose knee guards i have been using for over a year, if you feel you want to buy something better and of genuine quality, I think you should avoid the 'local' "Fox" and "AXO" stuff.

FOX Titan Sport guards sell for about Rs. 1700/- abroad, without shipping and customs.

AXO's TMKP sells for about the same.

Yet 'similar' products are being sold in India for about half the price - you can be the judge as to their authenticity.

If you are particular about quality AND getting a genuine product, I'm afraid your options are limited. Buying from an authorised distributor should give you a measure of protection against fakes. The road side shops may give you better prices but their products will be iffy at best. Ask Aditya, I'm sure he would agree!

                            My Friend,

If you had done your research properly before tearing into our friend from Bangalore I am sure that you would have found that none of the products that you have spoken about could possibly be genuine - The Titan Sport Jacket - or full armour that you are talking about costs about Rs.6000/- before shipping to India. I can only pray that you never actually have to crash-test your Rs.1300/- product to prove their efficacy or worth.

Before you tear into somebody next time, I would suggest that you consider these words - they have meaning.

Guys, please don't buy those cheap "Fox" & "Axo" guards. There won't give any real protection whatsoever in an emergency...

It's better to stick with Cramster. Atleast they are not trying to imitate another brand. I've been using Cramster knee guards for sometime. Though i haven't tested it in real time so far, it should give reasonable protection.

If you want some real protection, you have to pay for it. I've ordered Alpinestars Bionic SX knee guards from Amazon.com.

It costs around $175 (including shipping), but these are truly CE-EN 1621-1 certified.
