@Rahul2880 if you're looking for jacket and gloves for your leh ride then u may also want to check out DSG Nero or Cramster Breezer, but im noob when it comes to riding gears you may take more advise.

About boots and pants, most people going to leh go for army boot and army cargo pants, atleast thats what i've lernt from all the theards on leh and back..........

      Nothing on Rjays......

Riding pants available here include those from Scoyco, Rjays, Joe Rocket and Cramster. Probably A*star too though I don't know about that. Do check these brands to decide on which one will suit you the best in Leh.
Rjays also has an Octane and All seasons jacket which are better suited to Leh than their cheaper, Swift versions which is an all mesh jacket and only comes with a rain liner.
For boots, probably can check Orazo. Also do have a look at Quechua. Not exactly motorcycle boots but comfortable as hell

        • will ankle length woodland or timberland boots will work as riding boots? i already have ankle length woodland boots. the reason i am asking this because from many travel logs i have seen that no matter how much the company claim about waterproof jacket/pants/boots everything is useless in Leh, every product has failed for complete waterproof test in Leh. i have to wear rainwear (duckback) over my riding gear to prevent me from freezing.investing in riding boots and pants for one tour too costly.

I have these knee guards and they are extremely comfortable and robust too. Go for it. They are worth the money you pay.

My advice, Plonk another 1K INR and get a good pair of riding pants. Knee guards start irritating after some 100 kms of riding, Purely IMO

Well opinions vary based on experiences. These knee guards are a tad big to wear inside the pants. When worn over your pants they are comfy. I have been using these for close to a year and have them on for every ride. I have ridden close to 400 kms at a stretch with these and had no discomfort whatsoever.

But if one can spend a wee bit more and get a pair of riding pants then its a good deal as riding pants offer more protection (hip, buttocks etc.)

                        Adi,

Actually knee guards and riding pants have two different purposes. Knee guards allow you to wear jeans or some other clothing and when you reach your destination, you're good to walk around by simply taking off the guards. Riding pants are not so comfy to walk around in. Say you're going to the mall, movies or even the beach - knee guards allow you to ride with protection till you reach the place while riding pants will prove uncomfortable after you reach the destination - the A Stars you have are ideal for this.

There are in fact knee-guards which you can even wear all day under your clothes like the Forcefield Limb Tubes. I've actually done that too - no discomfort whatsoever.

No argument at all as to which offer better protection - no doubt the riding pants. I select the kind of gear to use depending on the ride, destination, etc.,

In India, most riders use knee guards simply because they're far cheaper than dedicated riding pants, with the knock-off FOX guards starting at 600 odd bucks.

                        • True, and not to forget the extra abrasion resistance and paddings offered by dedicated riding pants. I feel one should have a pair of riding pants if possible for highway jaunts. But then the entry level pants really dont offer much in terms of quality and protection. In such cases the external bionic knee guards seem to perform better in terms of impact protection.
You can take the ride away from me but you cannot take the rider out of my soul.........

^^ Agreed! Riding pants IMO are absolutely a must have for long distance tours. I use a very comfortable Cordura cargo style armoured riding pants but on a recent 2200 km blast to Goa and back, I decided to wear armored leather pants since we were averaging speeds of 120kmph and even touched 200kmph on certain stretches!

Truly once you start wearing leathers, you'll start to feel naked with anything else.

You are planning to use this for city rides? Then pants will be tough to change into&carry on a daily basis.
In that case you better go with knee protectors-A* bionic is the best.
If you are looking for budget riding pants, Cramster is a good option at about 1/3rd the cost of A*:
I don't wear anything other than helmet&gloves in city.
                                Short rides-knee&elbow protectors under shirt/pant.
                                Long rides-jacket&riding pants.
Hope your confusion is cleared now!
