Now when it retails, the math is completely different. A 7k jacket is indeed only close to say around 6K max or even less, the additional 1 or 2 or 3k is overhead for us consumers, paying so called "import duties et all what the dealer paid" each and every time we buy a single piece of any product, in which the dealers make pretty hefty profit out of it.
Be it any make A*, Thor, Dainese, Shift, JR, etc etc, whatever gear that maybe out there is overpriced than what they actually are. You shed more money if you go with brands, just for the brand image that it gives and for your personal satisfaction so to speak. Sad but true!!
I don't wanna get into this huge topic, and I don't know if you're aware of this, there was a research what a specified brand has on it's consumers and their attitude towards passing the word around their mates and stuff. So brand isn't a big thing to the inherent company itself, but when they sell, all they want is to make their brands prominent to consumers in any way possible so they attract more customers, which leads to more demand, which leads to "price setting as their wish" mindset.
So, don't worry, no one escapes from this damned loop

Cheers!
