What I've seen in Chennai is very low specced and expensive. Many better specced options available at better price.

So if the comparison between the two proves the RJays to be a better buy.., it's perhaps my lucky day.
    Pls advise.
Sorry for the twin post - didn't see your comment. Comparing the two is not a fair question, since one is a multi-purpose lightweight option while the other is a dedicated touring heavyweight version. They are designed for different purposes, so are very different characters.

I can tell you that SPG was field-testing something very similar a few months ago, and is also slated for launch very soon.

SPG never stops to surprise me, at this rate , soon within a few months, i'll be covered by SPG gears from head to toe.

Waiting for the knee guards for quite a while now, my cheap "FOX" knee guards are due for a replacement.

@Sunnyside_up! : thank you for confusing me further LOL!
so pray allow me to revise this...
          spartan odeyssus: multi-purpose lightweight - retails @ inr 6k
          rjays : touring heavyweight - retails @ inr. 5.4K
          is this correct?
if so, aint this contradictory? i was under impression that rjay's are quality-wise better & cost-wise pricier?
and u say that spg is about to come out with another one soon?
man this is so very confusing....

                LOL! You ARE confused!

The Odysseus is a dedicated touring pants and is made entirely of Cordura, hence the "heavy-weight". I cannot comment about the RJays because I haven't seen it for myself, but have been field-testing something here in Chennai that is so similar that it could pass for a twin! These Mesh + Cordura pants are multipurpose, but because of the mesh, considered "lightweight" , hence my comment.

Regarding the RJays being better quality-wise, I disagree but please make your own decisions on those matters.

@Sunnyside_up! : LOL! ok that explains...
so perhaps my earlier decision on buying the Spartan Odeyssus was correct & i may safely stand by that!
that being said, my wait resumes...
spartan customer support have given a tentative in-stock time as 'June-end'
*phew!* so much sweat over finalizing a pant! LOL!

When you say that it multipurpose I am assuming you mean multi seasin as due to mesh it enables it to be worn in hot summers. Right? and heavy weight cause its full cordura or is it that its litterally heavier and armours are of better quality?

I used the term heavyweight to refer to the weight of a full Cordura garment and lightweight because mesh is used also, making the garment lighter. In no way did I suggest that one was superior than the other. Please read my post carefully. I was merely pointing out that a comparison was not feasible since they are both different kinds of pants, designed for different purposes.

EDIT- you're also right that the mesh combo allows use in extreme hot weather, while full Cordura is more tuned for heavy duty use.

                        Hey guys,

Riding to Ladakh this year and need suggestions on good pair of gloves. I am looking for some all weather gloves, specially rain proof. I have used some brands in the past (cheap ones) and they tend to get really hard and uncomfortable once soaked in water. Any suggestions?

                        Cheers!

Full Cordura also means limited ventilation (even with the air flow zippers) and hence quite uncomfortable in the hot and humid Indian climate. A mesh pant (like Mesh Jackets) makes more sense for normal usage and basic levels of protection.

You get what you pay for. Without proper gloves its very uncomfortable riding in cold climate.

For cold climate like Ladakh, you need winter gloves. These would be waterproof and windproof on the outside and with a warm liner inside.

DSG used to have a Waterproof/Windproof/Winter glove called Acqa, call them up and sheck if they have it in stock

This is not cheap but one of the best all weather gloves in the market.

I would rather have something that suits all weather. For a specific trip, I can always use something else along with the gloves for protection. Have been looking into the DSG site for along time, but its very difficult to pick something up from there. I guess I have to pay a visit finally. Thanks for your suggestion.

Ya, I have been eying those for a long time now.. only seem to be a little pricey for a pair of gloves. I got my riding jacket 4 years back cheaper than this how about DSG carbon ones? I have read good/ok review about them. Just that it rains a lot in bangalore and in Kerla (two places I ride the most), so I would not want to invest again in gloves for a couple of rides.

What options do I have for back/spine protector? I have a jacket and it doesn't have one nor it has an option of insertion.
Does SPG sell Knox Level -1 protector separately? I will avoid fakes at all cost.
