  • Used my newly bought DSG Revive gloves for the first time yesterday for a 250Km ride to Alibaug and back to Mumbai. My short review and observations.

    Pros :
-Very good grip on the handlebars.
-Good quality stitching (i could observe the material beginning to tear at the stitches on a Spartan Glove near the wrist area - below the wrist its not leather material)
-The perforated leather present along the fingers is really good and gives a pleasant experience, you can feel the air coming in and the cooling effect.
    - Overall quality is quite good. (It ought to be for a 2K glove)

Cons (May be particular only to me)
    - The protective attachmet stitched on the thumb is not designed as it should be.

The area encircle above is where the first bend of my thumb really is. As you can see that patch is not well positioned to accumulate the bend.

    - Similar issue with the little finger.

The plastic piece with the ventilation mesh for the little finger is of the same size as for the rest of the fingers. I guess this is a general design flaw as finger segements in the little finger are comparatively shorter than other fingers. The first bend of my little finger is between the drawn line and the encircled area, here the 'plastic mesh thing' hurts when i grab the handle bars as the little plastic piece refuses to bend. I seriously think that the mesh thing should be designed a little shorter in length for the little finger.

    Purely my experience.

Excellent write up, I love honest, unbiased reviews. The protective padding your rounded up in your first photo is not a design flaw in your piece. It's a foam that's kept intentionally to cushion you from a fall rather than just leather protecting you, because leathers is good if you're scarapping the tarmac. Whereas this foam is like hard-hit impact resistant material, like if something hard, and sharp tries to penetrate your skin, it stops it whereas just a leather will flex with the object and pass through flesh. So it's like a small bed on top of a bed spread to prevent the tearing of the bed curtain (sorry I have no example to cite you an example )

The air vents you've mentioned maybe a design flaw, but you'll get used to it don't worry.

        Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
        The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Regarding the piece of foam, you explained wonderfully how it ought to be useful while a crash, I guess its a little compromise - function over form, will have to live with it .
Breaking-in does take some time, it seems.

            Cheers

YOu don't sweat much even in stop go traffic. The cheek padding is very very good and overall fit is snug. Padding on the top is very less probably to aid air ventilation(which is it's USP).
Noise performance at around 100 is not great however which should be expected as it's designed to aid ventilation and the air which gets in is bound to make some noise.
(MInd you though that you don't feel any air getting in from under the chin)
So you start to hear a bit of noise which becomes prominent at around 100, but nothing which will unsettle you to slow down. The LS2 might perform better here.People who have used both the LS2 and SOL will be better equipped to comment on the relative merits.
What you do get with the SOL is peace of mind. The DOT certification is embossed unlike many LS2 lids where the certification is stickered. Ensure that the lid is genuine if you do make up your mind to buy an LS2.
The newly opened LS2 showroom in Pune is the place where you'll surely get genuine stuff.(they probably will ahve the certification embossed too, although am not sure on this)
Thank you all for your replies/suggestions. Couldn't reply before since got bit busy with work. Will consider trying LS2 and SOL once again and upload pics soon as i get one.

I use my AXO Full length shoes while goin to college...
                        Like 9am - 4pm continuously on...
So shorts wont be much of a problem...

But yes, the grip of these Track shoes is really low...
I mean I seriously feel scared on Marble tiles in college
And while using the stairs, I just have to use the railings to feel safe (In these safety shoes)

Got the same yesterday. Yet to use it.

Doesnt so much look shiny as in the pic but I'm happy its not.

                          Cons:
Asymmetric straps. Both come on left side, which means I need to be careful about my tank on one side.

                          Pros:
Costs less. Yet to check how comfy they are in riding.

                          Will update.

Also, thinking of buying fox armor (obviously not original) .. because all of the sub 6500 jackets available in India have failed to impress me.

                            • can anyone recommend me a pair of gloves that are breathable. something that won't let me feel hot inside in the gloves. i should be able to use them in summers without too much of a problem
                              water resistant but not waterproof!
something that can be easily washed too.

hope that there are indeed such gloves that fulfill my requirement : )
