Forget about the quality, +1 for uploading such a detailed snap. Two questions, did you remove the padding of your jacket and then used the protector or used along with the jacket's back protector? (meaning two protectors) Second, how is the quality?

            Cheers!

Looks great.. Does it have decent ventilation as well while riding?? I do not think we have any other cost effective option for spine protector in India apart from these Cramster ones - there are some (fake?? ) upper body armour from axo or fox on ebay for around 1800 and that too has a back protector but I doubt it will be any good or dependable if its a fake...
Good buy overall - i would look forward to a review after you use it for a while :-)

this protector is meant to be upgrade of the foam padding of the jacket. so i'll use it without jacket's foam padding.
quality wise it is ok ok...

can't comment on ventilation because this back protectors doesn't have any vents/holes on it...i have seen those fake or you can say 1st copy at Ah helmet and babloo motors, vashi. They were poorly build.Thin padding,no proper stitches, bad quality plastic, the protective plastics on the back were looking like they were pre crash tested...lolz...by looking at those fakes at the 1st sight u'll say...nahi chahiye vapas rakhdo!
i am not good at writing reviews still i'll try.

                  • Great purchase mate, never knew cramster had back protectors too, i thought only A* had those good quality one's, and you'r right, the fox one's flooding the market here are prety much useless, it's clear when we see it in flesh, the quality of the product is just not right.
Doesn't look all that bulky with the jacket put on too.
Now an important question, how much does this cost ?

                    Cheers Mate

Its an external guard, wear it inside the jacket and remove the foam padding. You might want to keep the padding if its thin, the one in DSG Nero is quite thick.

@Dreamwalker987 - Can you please confirm that its 1800 bucks only. Im getting one for myself. Soo.

One question at anyone who can answer - should this spine protector be used with or without the existing foam pad in the jacket. "My" logic says that it will provide better protection. What do the experts have to say on this.

Yes it is for Rs 1800 only. Accessories

There are two ways to your mentioned query -

                            1) Remove the foam pad if its too thick and you can barely breathe inside when wearing the spine protector.
                            2) Use it with the foam pad if you have freedom of movement.

The logic behind the spine protector is to absorb the impact created when you fall off from your bike at high speed and ensure the abrasion is taken by those fiber panels installed on the pad. Using with the foam pad will slightly increase the protection levels no doubt but not to a greater extent. But there is a chance where you might find it uncomfortable to move because the jacket would then give stiff unless you have one size bigger jacket for added protectors. My DSG NERO incorporates chest protectors also, installing a back protector wont make a difference because the size of the jacket is XXL, and for this reason I had purchased a size bigger so that the guards can be accommodated.

In short, use the foam pad along with the back protector if you are having freedom of movement, if not then please avoid.

Yes, mate. I know a friend of mine in US, who wears the protector along with his leather jacket protector. He is 6'4 and wears XXXL I guess, don't know which size, but he wears it along with his A* leather plus A* back protector.

But it depends from person to person.

It depends mate and moreover it depends on the comfort level that you feel wearing the spine protector along with the foam. The reason I asked this in my prev question was my 'firgani" friend wears this and the back protector, yes it gives you undoubtedly the "superb protection" but, again if one's comfortable wearing it, then it's fine.

But for that we need to purchase one right!

FOX is an excellent brand, coupled with its recognition in other countries. But damn, there are copy-cats, and what you've got is cheap FOX (not only FOX many other brands) stuff flooded in the market. I happen to see a fox guard, where the rivets were like bus rivets, you can clearly see them hammered down, and the flat spots can be clearly seen. Moreover, there is a significant play between the rivet and the plastic that it intends to hold. Crazy stuff!

But with Cramster, you can at least breathe easy with the stuffs they offer, though not the best, not the inferior too. Best budget brand IMHO.

                              Cheers!

                              • @eshan - good point. Didnt think of it. Thanks. I will take my jacket to the otg store and test before buying. Why is it that this ones for 1800 whereas the knox ones are nearly 8 to 10 times more from cost perspective. I m aware that knox is imported but why is there such a huge price gap. Could it be the quality thats inferior.

@ vj - thanks. I am planning to buy. And yes thanks again to you and mithingo for suggesting the cramster brezeer. I have used it on a few rides and it is simply brilliant. Will test its thermal liner when i ride to Goa in december.
