  • The 360Degree Removable Technotex Panel is nothing but an additional cover (loved this) which in case you chuck your internal liner, the jacket can be made wind proof by covering that part under your waist area, which locks near the pockets so that it becomes virtually wind resistant, and remove it, the jacket completely becomes a mesh for sunny climates. If it's windy and you don't want to remove your jacket, just add strap this to your torsal area, and you're almost wind protected.

For 7250, for the goodies it offers, by far my favorite jacket.

    Cheers!

Even I have the M size and faced the same issue of a somewhat looser fit near elbows. It shouldnt have been the case since it was M. I did some jugaad with the strap so that it can be tightened further I will post pics of it later if you want. You can also stitch extra velcro so that the fit can be tightened.

@sunnysideup : If you are reading this, please try to make the elbow area of next batch of Hyperion a bit tighter so that there wont be any free movement of the protector, at least for the size M and below if not for all sizes. Other than this, everything is good about the jacket a really great product! Have been using it for a month now and I wear it almost everyday!

      • I am looking to buy a couple of riding pants - one for me and the other for my wife. I am looking for something that we can wear irrespective of whether its hot or cold. So basically, a pair of pants with detachable thermal liners. The pants need not be waterproof since we never ride in the rain. Leather is ruled out so its either mesh or textile pants. I will be getting them from the US, budget is around 150$ each. Any suggestions?

Joe Rocket, AGV, and Alpinestars will be your best bet. Though A* should be a tad costlier. Why not look at Spartan Odysseus pants, though currently it's only avlbl for men (AFAIK) and jackets/helmets avlbl for women.

Spot on. I have the same suggestion. The adjustment straps for the elbow needs to be looked after.

              I also agree to this.

M was too tight for me and L is little loose. L wore with thermal liners fits nicely on me.

Krish, as I said, stitch the velcro with additional piece of velcro, so that the you can pull even more and get a chic fit. The only drawback would be a big flap of velcro if you happen to remove them, but if you intend to keep it in the same position, no one is gonna know except you.

And I'd suggest everyone who has the issue with Hyperion to stitch an additional piece of velcro, essentially making the velcro patch lengthy, which in turn, helps your pull in more and secure a tight fit.

                Cheers!

                • Hey everyone,

I was browsing through the thread as I am looking to get a jacket and gloves for myself. Now, I have my sister coming over from the US next month and am planning to ask her to get the same from over there. What do you guys recommend I should ask for? My budget is around $300 for the jacket as well as gloves.

                  Thanks for the suggestions!

Get the A* leather jacket or the AGV Sport Laguna, kick ass leather jacket, if you're into leather. I'd suggest get a good leather jacket from abroad for spirited rides and a good mesh jacket from here, so that you get to use them both depending on the season.

                    Cheers!

Thanks for the feedback - it is being looked into!

Actually this is an issue that has been noted in some riders with thinner arms. At the store in Chennai, an easy fix is done in ten minutes. Simply fold the strap twice, to form a 'z' at the base of the strap and run a stitch there to hold the fold in place, and voila! - the strap is shorter by about two inches. No need to get extra Velcro, or have an extra length of Velcro strap flapping around.

That said, there are two other points to be noted.

                      1. The strap was not shortened in production because guys with thicker arms do not have this problem, and if the strap was shortened they would not be able to sufficiently tighten the elbows. The effort is on though to ascertain if the average length could be shortened to suit more riders.
                      2. The HYPERION uses a strap system that allows infinite adjustment unlike most jackets that simply use one or two buttons - the flip side is that many riders tend to pull on the strap as tightly as possible. This is actually incorrect. The strap needs to be tightened to the point where the armour is held lightly - not tightly - in place. A tight fit will cut off circulation and lead to quicker fatigue during longer rides. The correct strap tightness would be to pull the strap only till there is a space for two fingers to pass through between the strap and the inside of the arm when straightened. This will allow comfort , yet hold the armour firmly in place when the elbow is folded.

And indeed thoughtful reasoning..never would have guessed it. I had tried to get it in tightest setting.

No problemo sirji. Anything for a fellow member. Please find the the answer to your questions below:
                          1) I think @blackthorn has answered this question perfectly. In layman terms its just a part below chest level which can removed completely to make a mesh jacket. for Indian weather i think its perfect.
                          2) Yes it has an integrated rain liner.
                          3) The back protector is also CE approved just like the elbow and shoulder guards. Thickness is 1cm.

Hope I answered all queries. any other queries please feel free to ask

Isn't the back potector just a foam pad ? Would it be able to take impact similar to the hardness of the shoulder or elbow pads ?

Is it a separate removable liner, or is it a layer of waterproofing material sandwiched in between the outer mesh layer and the inner comfort liner?

I bought one a couple of years ago as soon as it was launched but in my version the rain liner was stitched in between like a sandwich, completely cutting off all the air flowing through the outer layer, making the mesh quite pointless. I thought it might have been a mistake and wrote a mail to the company but did not get a reply. Did they change this?

Nope, Sunny ji it has integrated rain liner plus the removable thermal liner. The so called flap is nothing but a waist band type slip on (for lack of better terms) to get adequate wind/rain protection on the fly instead of stopping in the middle of the road and swap the liners, it's just one aspect I just love about Eclipse.
