I just checked their website, and it is still up for sale.

@VJ Have already mentioned requirements in previous page -

Time for another piece of gear to be added to the kit- Leather Gloves; budget- Approx 2.5k, CF knuckle protection mandatory

Since my riding is primarily in-city and outskirts I dont want a full gauntlet.

I'm looking at a mid-cuff glove like the DSG Revive. Have shortlisted the Rynox Kombat, Spartan Pegasus and Phaeton too.

I couldn't locate the reviews for the Rynox on the thread. Also if a comprehensive ownership experience of the Spartans exists, do lead me to it. Have given myself 2 weeks to decide

I've tried most of the above ones, though I'm all ears for what others have to say... Let the suggestions begin!

well i used the eclipse for only a week as the cordura frayed near the stitched joints and OTG guys acknowledged the problem and refunded me the amount i paid for the jacket.

The first one is basically meant for motorcross and worn inside motorcross jersey. The body armor does provide excellent impact protection but does not provide the abrasion resistance. So its advisable to wear an abrasion resistant jersey or jacket over it. The coverage of the armor is also very good and most well established brands come with CE approved Spine protector and chest protector. It might be a little cumbersome for everyday use but for touring it can be a great choice provided it is worn under a riding jacket . the armours are well secured and hugs the body well compared to a riding jacket. Besides the waist adjustor for the spine protector if tightened a little more as soon as back fatigue sets in during a ride , helps by supporting the spine and helps over come or delay the fatigue.however it is priced very high and further one will always need a jacket to go over it.
Mesh jackets in contrast provide only the bare basic protectors .however they are more practical and suitable for everyday use.and they also provide abrasion resistance.besides they cost a lot lesser as well.

                • Ok,so,finally after two and a half years,I upgraded to a pair of leather gloves. The Probiker ones I got in 2011 provided rudimentary protection. Even so,apart from the DSG motomesh,it was the best one in the "el cheapo" category. Wanted to get the Spartan Pegasus but due to the lack of the online payment gateway and my inability to travel to chennai or kolkata,I had to settle for the DSG Revive. First impressions are,in a word, impressive. The scothlite addition is a plus over the Pegasus and the CF dots on the fingers are a nice touch. Won't be able to ride it extensively until the second week of May though,so will reserve comments on the performance. But going by the numerous reviews here,it's obviously one of the best in the price range. Next up: Cajole riding jacket from my parents. Preferably the DSG Rage. Perfectly complements the black and green of my NS. Thanks to all the members for your reviews. Helped me quite a lot while stalking this thread during the past year.

                  Pardon the flowery bedsheet.

Nice! Just what I was researching- I'm inclined towards the Revive too
Why do you "regret"? IMO the Revive is a very sorted glove and has better features than Pegasus, which is a proper short-cuff and covers lesser area. Also, except Phaeton, others from Spartan don't have reflectors. Did you shortlist any other ones? Rynox??
The Phaeton is interesting but is part cordura :/ Will check them in person to assess protection on offer

@VJ- I couldnt find any reviews for the Rynox Kombat despite searching the thread extensively. Do you know of any?

RG Ji you very well know how these both things work. The moto cross in my opinion is the protective stuff out there from the reviews I've read and they are really worth for low speed impacts where cushioning is not that great but does good job at it.

Textile is basically for comfort with improved protection and the type of armors used in proper motorcycle jackets as opposed to just the plastic component which won't be able to spread the impact energy evenly which means your bones are sure to go to pieces if you have a high speed impact on street with motocross gear.

Third it's ridiculously clumsy to look like an outcast wearing this in traffic or elsewhere, and to carry them in case you want to go to malls etc unlike a proper jacket.

So ultimatum, pros of a proper jacket far outweighs the motocross apparel.

                      Cheers!

Who's regretting? I only went for the available alternative. It's just that the Pegasus' styling appealed to me a bit more. I did consider the Rynox Kombat for a short time, but realized that it's akin to a gauntlet glove and won't be as practical for daily use for me. Also, the styling seemed really bland. The Revive's only niggle, according to many reviews is the poor velcro stitching but it is supposedly very easy to sew a fresh patch of velcro on to it. I can live with that.

well...since you said that you had to"Settle for" I went over to a shop again to compare the Kombat and Revive. I troed both in XL and the Revive was far comfier. The Kombat was tight; seemed almost 1 size small despite being XL. And it has 2 velcro fasteners compared to 1 for Revive that makes Kombat more cumbersome for daily use.

Now, I have 2 important queries-

                                1. Should a glove be slightly loose fitting when you try it, so that when you fold your fingers and grip the handle/levers, you have enough space OR should it be very snug as leather expands on usage? (I've heard both sides, Performance Racing Store in M'bai advised the former, while I see many here advise the latter)

                                2. Is the Carbon fibre knuckle protector faux CF or the real deal? Saw some comments on previous pages suggesting it ws just CF- finished and not the real stuff. Spartan specifically says CF- finished on their site while the rest state Carbon fibre. What's the truth?
