re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
I did check their stuff, but somehow didn't match to my taste. Also their CE rating on their website for jackets is actually supposed to be on pants, small error but... Considering what you already get in the market at same price range and tried and tested, would you want to 'try' them.Originally posted by ragharsh View Post

Thanks for your feedback. Think will go for Rjays. And not due to price but cause the fit seems better to my taste, Helios it's more for really slim guysOriginally posted by B7ACKTHORN View Post.
Both are good jackets. The decision is yours. If you find the RJays cheaper then go for it, and if you want the little advanced armor (though nothing big of a difference) you can go for HELIOS.:

re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Waist adjustment can be made there. I would suggest if you have the option of trying on any of the jacket then it would help much better in deciding. As said here before the quality wise of the build is on par both of them. But armor wise helios has the edge and let's say minor attention to details too, like waterproof pocket, key holder and stuff like that.Originally posted by Kunwar.g View PostThanks for your feedback. Finally ,, the choice is yours.

Replies in bold.Originally posted by TranquilRageNice & extensive thread!
I am awaiting some help on misc queries I posted in the 'Help Me' section few days ago, but I think the ones related to riding gear will get the best response here
So here goes,
Riding gloves: I am looking for small-sized protective gloves for my better half (pillion). I have checked out DSG at A2Z Motorcyle Gear and RE gloves where the knuckle protectors don't rest on the knuckles for her. I saw Cramster at Outdoor Travel Gear, they were will-do fitting, not perfect, but somehow the quality seemed very uninspiring to me compared to what I saw in DSG and RE. I even asked at the RE Brand store but they were of the opinion that pillion can do with any gloves and suggested simple Pro-biker gloves. I saw them online and wasn't convinced. I don't understand why a pillion shouldn't have proper leather or knuckle and finger protection, the only thing a pillion doesn't require is possibly a riding grip or pre-curve on the gloves!
Check out Motosport.com for ladies' gloves. They have some fairly extensive stocks.
Knee-pads: I am not keen on riding pants at the present. For knee pads, I saw some at Bachoo motors which didn't inspire confidence, then some MLD or MAD brand (couldn't make out) at A2Z, they fitted well but they were just front protection not rounded (might end up with these if I don't get anything else, additionally the elbow guards that come with it fit my better half as knee guards). The bionic ones from Cramster, I was told at OTG, are no longer available as they are coming up with a new design. Then, there was I think a Knox brand, but I think costly at about 5.5k. Any suggestions?
Personally,I think you'd be better off with riding pants since you are also wary of lugging around additional riding gear. As to the Cramster knee guards, they are nice enough for 1.5k. Rudimentary protection though. Spending 5.5k for a pair of kneeguards doesn't make much sense, since you'd get a really nice pair of riding pants at that price point.
Carrying Gear: I will be mostly following ATGATT, but two pairs of riding gear seem a little too much to carry when you are going anywhere except solely for riding or to somebody's house where you can dump it. How do you carry a helmet, jacket, gloves, knee pads each?
Wear the jacket, most jackets these days are "cool" enough to be worn whilst not riding. The gloves can be put in a backpack and taken with you. Knee pads are a sore though.

Other than that, I am on heavier side (big boned as you'd call :P), and I use Helios for my daily commute. Its an excellent Jacket for hot weather too. You can actually feel ventilation inside the Jacket while riding. It's a good option to for. And during rains and winter you have the inner lining to protect you.
However, do try both your options before deciding on one. Your basic body movement should not be resisted due to Jacket.

Triton is a textile jacket. Something perfect fro hardcore tourers. For small kinda tours and city rides, moreover in area with high average temperature and humidity it is not at all suited. I have used the Triton , sold it off in a few months because it was becoming impossible to handle the heat and it's size also is something is tough to adjust to for short rides.Originally posted by Touseef Ahmed Mohammed View PostBros, planning for a Riding Jacket.

Now I am using the Hyperion form Spartan and a great product. Retails around 7500/- almost a tad costlier than the Triton , but works like a charm, you can wear the liners to make it warm during the winters as the Triton would provide(not the same, Triton will always be better for colder conditions).
So , if the weather is mostly cold in your area for most of the year, go for the Triton , also if you are prepared for the extra long jacket ( like I said, it's for hard core tourers and for the cold areas) for a better peace of mind option go for spartan/cramster breezer or eclipse or even the Rjays swift.
For Hyperion review, check my signature.
Cheers

re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
RJays sizes are usually catered for the Asian group, big, fat guys and that's the reason you see even an a smaller sized jacket is quite baggy for most riders. But if you really like them and go for it.Originally posted by Kunwar.g View PostThanks for your feedback. Think will go for Rjays. I personally would reflect the same, a pillion doesn't need to wear a race spec gloves as such a rider, but that doesn't mean she should go unprotected. Investing in a pair of leather gloves is always a wise idea and I keep advocating the same as opposed to textile ones, which rip in a sliding crash, exposing flesh and investment is useless whereas leather protects and doesn't get ripped so easily, lasts really long.Originally posted by TranquilRageNice & extensive thread!

I'd suggest there aren't gloves specifically for women as such, just make sure you get the sizing correct by making her try hands on, as all gloves are to a degree unisex gloves, so she can feel how comfortable she feels and how the fit is. Do not go just by aesthetics of it, even costly brands doesn't mean they fit better. Trying gloves is always better than purchasing online when it comes to someone's hands you're not so sure how comfortable they might be, in this case your better half.
Knee guards, I'd suggest you can go for FOX armors sold in eBay. Genuine ones cost you upwards of 5k basic, and Cramster is a good bet because it's getting a refreshed design and it's made by at least a reputed brand rather than go for fakes. But AXO and FOX which are sold in eBay are real good and I personally have seen crash guys walking off with these pads and they've passed the test with flying colors.
Knox in OTG is quite expensive and I'd suggest if you're so into the protection then go for it, KNOX stuffs are usually costlier as they are a well known protective equipment manufacturer, and yes you do pay for royalty.
Carrying stuffs is the blackspot for any biker especially if he's fully geared. Except if you happen to tour and crash your stuffs in a motel or as you've quoted any of your relatives' home, it is a bit clumsy to walk around malls, or shops with gears or even worse carrying them all. What's worse, to carry a helmet you need to carry helmet bag and you have to carry them along with additional stuffs.
I'd suggest you drop your gear in any place and then go by your work and come back and gear up and head back as usual. I'd personally suggest you not to wear riding gear and go by jaywalking in and around as it is really uncomfortable to carry all these.
Not fry as such and I think it's way undermined. DSG do have good stuffs, but not great stuffs to reckon with. NERO, MAZE are some really good jackets, and are not top notch when it comes to quality, but the price to value is in my opinion not a favorable spot to look at. I'd suggest you go for DSG if you really love the fit and comfort and then try Spartan and then other brands.Originally posted by Touseef Ahmed Mohammed View PostBros, planning for a Riding Jacket.

Try Performance Racing Store in Mumbai, they have Scala Rider bluetooth headset, and costs quite a bomb, but it's worth the buck and quite a reputed brand abroad as well.Originally posted by sumitro_d View PostNeed a Full Face Bluetooth helmet at a price range of max 10K,shop preferred at Bangalore or Chennai.

I'd personally suggest you to wait for the Cramster's refreshed design and I have a hope that it "might" turn out well, as it is their hot selling cake, and refreshing is a sureshot way to make sure they're listening to customers, at least close.Originally posted by TranquilRageThanks for the extensive reply.
I definitely agree with you on the gloves, the problem is the sizing for her so we definitely want to try the fit and exhaust all possible options locally before I consider trying to order online. I have already got equivalent armour for her (helmet, jacket) and it will be so for gloves & knee guard
What other brands for gloves can I look at? DSG & RE didn't fit, Cramster I didn't like.
I'll check out FOX & AXO online. But it's true that if knee guards are going to cost like 5k, I would probably buy riding pants. Let's see when Cramster comes up with the new design.
Any idea where I can get a helmet bag in less than 1k locally? Something like this - DOWCO Dirt Bike Helmet Bags | MotoSport India
I agree, two pairs of riding gear are too much to carry. Will just have to see according to situation, I guess. Nearby rides, just helmet & gloves maybe. Or at the relatively expensive public transport
I'd suggest full gauntlet for you short cuff for her. Try the DSG Revive/Nitro (though nitro is not listed on their website) for her and the Primal full gauntlet for you or the Cramster Flux for her.
And did you search Cramster's website? They have a helmet bag which is pretty cool and acts as a backpack too, rather than a normal dufflebag type helmet bag
The helmet can be locked at the back on this backpack and you can carry your stuffs as usual in the bag.
Cheers!
