Oh,thank you. Thank you. :'DOriginally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostNah, this ain't those cotton tee shirt type, where you wash and it shrinks and you get the fit. Nylon material mostly are perfectly fit for the use. They expand slightly when they are *worn* and become soggy and soft. But that takes a while.

re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
In this case, the fight is clearly between the Icarus and the Swift. The Swift retails for 5000 bucks only for size M though. So,if that fits you, then go for it. The Icarus also has a host of goodies going for it. At this price point you can't go wrong with either of these. Although I don't know about the bulk of the Icarus, the Swift is a bit cumbersome.Originally posted by Sird View PostIn My Low Budget for Jacket.

how is the spartan icarus compared to dsg aero? both are at same price point...which is better in terms of bulkyness ease of use and protection with goodies?Originally posted by Aytas_sss View PostIn this case, the fight is clearly between the Icarus and the Swift. Isnt DSG aero good compared to others?(its got waist adjustable straps too
how about dsg nero(6k) and dsg phoenix (5.5k)?
all apart from looks seem to be the same...codura reinforced mesh/600 denier codura fabric (whats the diffeence between the two
I too am saving and looking for a jacket at a price point of about 5000...wouldnt mind an extra 500 more or less if it offers extra protection...
so inshort in the budge or 4.5 to 6k what would u guys recommend as a good jacket for daily city riding? not to bulky...
can these jackets be folded and shoved into a back pack??
@Sird where are u planning to buy the jacket from? i read somewhere u live at thakur village kandivali east...i live at mahavir nagar kandivali westLast edited by mayank.travadi; 05-24-2013, 01:36 PM.Pulsar 200NS parts list

Sure. Also, consider the Spartan Pegasus.Originally posted by TranquilRageLooking forward to your review of DSG Revive. Am on the fence & presently it's one of my two options.
I do not have first hand experience with either of the jackets. But from the on-paper specifications, the Icarus seems to offer the best bang for your buck as well as better design(personal opinion). But since you are willing to spend much more than 5K,then consider the Helios and DSG Rage/Nero. I have been using the Rage for a couple of days now,and I can vouch that it's breezy to ride. No sweating while standing either. Real light and not weird to move around at all.Originally posted by mayank.travadi View Posthow is the spartan icarus compared to dsg aero? both are at same price point...which is better in terms of bulkyness ease of use and protection with goodies?

i am willing to spend as much as possible but its the parents approval that is important...
and with past experience even if they agree mostly will be able to get the icarus...
can u tell me difference between the two?
-cordura reinforced mesh jacket
-600 denier cordura fabric

When a jacket employs solid cordura in critical areas where blunt force trauma needs to be mitigated, and uses mesh in non-critical areas with a combination of armour at the elbows, for instance, for better ventilation,it's called cordura reinforce mesh jacket. The Spartan Helios/DSG Rage are good examples.
600 Denier is the grade of the cordura fabric. Higher the grade, higher the durability and bulkier it is. Full cordura jackets tend to be more bulky and unwieldy to move in while not riding. But offer superior protection in comparison to mesh jackets.

I guess the backpack has to be spacious enough to accomodate the jacket. I wouldn't recommend "Shoving" it in though.

Icarus, Swift and Aero are all basically the same jacket, with just different brand names more or less. They are basic mesh jackets with removable liner and just provide the right protection for the price point. If you look at the construction they all have basic rain liner a mesh shell and approved armors. Now the question comes to which fits you perfectly, and for that you can try at any place you can where you have dealerships or go by their size chart, if you're planning to purchase them online.Originally posted by Sird View PostIn My Low Budget for Jacket.

If you're going abroad (saw in another thread about your flight thingy), why don't you try some good stuffs there, they are a bargain there as compared to here in India, and you have lots of varieties too.Originally posted by mayank.travadi View Posti am willing to spend as much as possible but its the parents approval that is important...

-cordura reinforced mesh jacket - means the shell is same cordura or nylon outer or 600D with extra strong nylon material at hotspots, below forearm, upper shoulder etc
-600 denier cordura fabric - means the nylon material that makes the entire jacket. (basically the outer shell)

I am going to oman...my birth place(a country blessed with cheap oil and more than sufficient heat from sun)...i doubt i'll get decent motorcycle jackets there where 99.99% of the population travels by cars(u get to see peple driving a lexus, bmw, merc like people driving a maruti swift here) and the remaining motorcyle riding people ride vintage litre class bikes wearing nothing but a football jersey and shorts.
I'll still look if i am able to source something...will ask dad there..
about the jacket..basically one is a mesh jacket which has cordura at impact areas and the other is a complete cordura jacket and the same material at impact area...hmmm...
