The total cost comes similar...Want to know which provides more safety..!Also easy for me if buying part by part..suggestions please!
On a formal note, Jacket is good for us.

Those Spine protectors, Elbow & knee are good when You're into stunting.
Where you ain't gonna cross a lane.

You're just on the same road of 200m-300m for 1-2 hour, But you need Protection + Air to survive from Heat.

If you're into stunting, get the Spine, elbow, knee and a helmet with shoes else stick to the jacket because it will save your skin also from Sun-burn + Just 1 jacket to wear & takecare off, rather than so many items whenever and wherever you take it off.

Exactly, even I find bikers who don those protectors and ride on the road funny and contrived.

aargee. Your video was excellent. But for a number of riders, it would be too subtle, too cerebral. What really jolts the senses is graphic detail - fractured, bleeding skulls, brain matter spilling out, fragmented bones and spilled intestines, blood and gore everywhere.

Also, we have to acknowledge that there would be a large number of riders for whom it would be a big financial hit. Good riding gear costs a fair amount of money. I myself am neither rich not poor but even I baulk at spending Rs 10 odd thousand on riding boots. Not because I am stingy but because the times that I would use them would be few and far in between. For a chap who is a regular at the nearby track, it is a mandatory piece of equipment but for others, a set of good military style boots could suffice.

So, could the members propose a pragmatic (as opposed to optimal) solution? A helmet in the range of about Rs 2000 is a non-negotiable item; anybody riding the most eco commuter bike costing Rs 40 odd thousand can easily commit an additional Rs 2000 for a good helmet. No. Helmet? No give and take.

That leaves us with the issue of jackets, gloves boots etc. The more knowledgeable members could give their opinions on a bare bones basic kit wherein, an acceptable degree of protection is afforded without straining the wallet of the rider too much.

Something on the lines of Satisfactory/Good/Excellent/Superlative = Brand or Model or Name A/B/C for every item of the riding gear. It would be an education for me too.

Assuming the jacket is a costly one.basic jackets and pants do not offer this type of protection.im not talkinh about the skin/tough fabric part.full length spine protectors like the one on the site? Jackets with those plus other longer length and better rated protection(ce 2) cost a lot.don't think many are present under 10k.the pocket for inserting them as an add on might be there on those jackets surely I presume.spartan ones have option to upgrade their back protection for example.cramster has one(enduro I believe) but no idea of the lenght and type of spine protection.others have variable thickness foam for protection at some places for back.this is my understanding.happy to know if there are economical jackets with the longer elbow, back protectors at sub 8-10k.(not know of any myself).the removable protectors at elbow and shoulder in indian jackets only cover the joint whereas these protectors seem to cover the area below and further above the joint(but Knox armor is still better than this right?).again I'm not talking about foreign super costly brands.overall jackets are preferred to these yes due to ease and vfm point of view.wish jackets had these at a more affordable level.good thing Indian companies are making better and better plus affordable jackets now.also anyone know about rynox brand?

Edit:at 5800bucks Zeus jackets seem to offer max bang for buck.does anyone know about this brand:zeusgear.in/

Trust me, Patience is the most precious of all given to us by God. Use it and save till you can buy one riding jacket for yourself. And believe me when I say "You will find n number of necessary/unnecessary reasons to ride your bike after the day you own it"

I just wanted a short review from Cramster Eclipse and Spartan Hyperion jacket owners, i'm looking forward to buying one of these, i was concerned about their weight and material quality. A few points would be good.

Hi guys.. I am in the lookout for a good riding jacket within 6K (may stretch a little if the product is really good). I am located in Chennai, so the Jacket must have good ventilation during summer and it should also be water resistant to tackle the monsoon season. My commute includes a travel of 30Kms a day (will also be touring atleast once in two months).

After going through the thread I have shortlisted Cramster Breezer 4.0 & Spartan Helios. Please help me out with choosing one. If there are better products available in this price range, please suggest. Thanks..
Honda Dio (Sold) | Yamaha FZ16 (Sold) | Duke 390 | Kawasaki Z800 (Technically it's my brother's, but WTH ;P) |

1. Start the engine; 2. Turn the trottle; 3. Disappear ;)

Not those are not MOTOCROSS Boots, those are Dual Sport / Adventure Touring boots. Can be used both of on / off road use.

Another Mesh Jacket option is the DSG Rage.

Yes, I did consider Rage but how good is it when compared against Breezer & Helios? I am leaning a tad over Breezer as it also comes with thermal lining.

Even the Rage comes with a Removable Lining.

I have not seen the used the Cramster or the Spartan Helios to compare it with the Rage. But I can tell that the Rage is a good Mesh Jacket. Its light weight, has a removable inner liner, the armor/ protectors are of the softer variety (which is comfortable to wear and at the same time absorbs impact better).

I did like the Orange colored jacket. I've booked Duke 390 and the jacket would go well with the bike.

Do you know any DSG dealers in Chennai?
