Sorry to break your heart, thats not a genuine Alpinestar. The cheapest A* is of 9900INR "T-GP Plus Air Jacket" and obviously this is not that.
And yes fake things have fake protectors which are as good as a normal cardboard sheet.

I got myself a dsg aero jacket a couple of months ago

done a couple of rides and its quiet comfortable jacket and the mesh is is superb
excellent airflow not an ounce of sweat

cost me about 4500 from dsg showroom in pune

never tried it with the rain liner though as it would block the air flow
and i personally feeel that the rain liner is very difficult to insert inside the jacket and clip it on sleeves it simply takes too much time

the crash padding is also good and gives u feel of security on long rides

all in all a VFM jacket

Dammit.hope the owner gets refund if its not genuine.the logo looks so convincing all the same!to the normal eye that is.s it also why ls2 helmets do not have any warranties?cause the ones in shop are fake?I was just checking the web and for example bell helmets have 5 year guarantee.do Indian jackets have any sort of guarantee against manufacturing defects, poor quality, stitching and so on?

sunnyside_up. The JK27 does not appear to be waterPROOF. It is reasonably water resistant. The material is a mesh fabric and permeable to air and so water too. The material is definitely NOT GoreTex; I have used GoreTex Alpine jackets during my Siachen tenure. It is just that the fabric layer is very thick. There are two sets of vents. The first pair is placed at the shoulder blades level in front and act as air intakes at speed. The second is towards the side at waist level facing sideways. Due to the overall winter-type form of the jacket, it retains body heat and becomes very hot indeed. I have to ride with the zipper half closed, all vents open. I had used it on my ride from Pune to Rajkot in May 2011 and the resultant dehydration had left me with arm cramps and shaky hands for almost a week.

The quality, for Rs 6400 is par for the course and is in fact pretty good for the price. The inner liner is excellent too.

Perhaps, I need to migrate to Scandinavia or Siberia and use the jacket while riding an Ural to make the best use of it.

But if you ask me, personally, I'd say DON'T just for peace of mind. You never know if any QC was ever done on them. But basically the shell of these jackets are almost the same with same material, but only go for it after verifying the jacket thrice, verifying the armor's genuinity and the overall fit and feel.

Cheers!

Thanks for your valuable advice, bro!! A bit late though I knew what you would suggest!! & guess what?; I got the DSG Nero last evening & I am extremely happy with it. The only thing confusing me is the fit. I bought L as my Tshirt size is L but tried M also but it was uber snug-fit. The L is comfortable and decently snug. Was it a right choice???

Sunny Sir : Fake A* are in market for long time now and it can be easily distinguished with the material used and the quality of armour. They sell here for as low as 3k. Would you believe we actually "tore" the armour like a piece of paper ,of the jacket which was relatively couple of days old.

Riding Jacket shouldn't be a tight fit. It should be comfortable. You should be able to perform enough movement of arms & torso after wearing it. Also, do understand that in winters, you would wear some warm clothes underneath it.

First of all I am not questioning the authenticity of the shop, I am questioning the jacket being genuine or not.
The owner mentioned that the jacket was priced at 12k and in that price range and neither the Fending Air nor the T-GP Plus looks like this.
And I don't remember any discontinued model that looked liked this.

And coming to the showroom of Sparta, Sunny Sir would be the person to confirm on it as he is related to Spartan Pro Gear and lives in Chennai.

P.S : I am done debating on this topic. Owner's money, owner's life, we are here only to guide, rest depends on the person who is spending his hard earned money. PERIOD
