Aquashield is nothing but their proprietary nylon liner. To put it simple it's just a basic nylon liner, perhaps circumvented in another way, and that's the case with most brands. Use a catchy-rarified word, and there you've got a proposition. But all in, HIGHWAY BOOTS and H20 are good boots.

Which gloves in particular? TR2G, FLUX and Tundra are all good gloves from Cramster. All these three have been tried and tested.
payeng, as Sunny elaborated perfectly, the one point I'd like to add is working temperatures for any product. That's why even most of the stuffs have temperatures mentioned in them in celcius both plus and minus as to extreme temperatures. And as these materials take the daily abuse, these get hardened. Have you seen sponge? Let it in rain and sun for a week and see they turn hard and brittle like a brick that is the same case with these armors.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

hmmm.. I shall try this cause at present I bend over sitting on the bed/chair and put them on or keep my feet on a raised surface while I'm standing and wear the protectors.. Will give this way a try and check out..
Just one thing; This way wouldn't it be too tight on the knee after sitting on the aggressive positioned bike (200NS to be specific)?

I didn't find them bulky at all.. I would not want to wear it with those tight jean.. Using the protectors with the loose fit jean would make it easier for adjusting them ... One can even pull up the jeans a bit and make the adjustment... Another friend of mine (Phanikar) who rode along was making the adjustments quiet comfortably since he wasn't wearing the tight jeans..

And if you have it on for a good part of the day and are out, the sweat would definitely result in itch.
I had the knee guards ON all day for almost 12 hrs while riding from B'lore to Kodai and again for 12 hrs on the return leg.. And was riding thro' Hosur and Salem and this bit was hot and there was no itch no sweat

Its kind of those breathable material and hence no sweat..

I will try and post pics of the protectors..

@Sunnyside_up! Thanks for the detailed reply. I am not questioning the safety protection afforded by Helios, just wanted to have a general idea of what goes on when riding gear is conceptualized and later put into production. I do have some suggestions regarding Helios which i will PM you about.

@B7ACKTHORN And here i was hoping for that it would be something breathable & waterproof! Thanks for the suggestions though. Are the RE boots any good for touring? I will visit the RE brand store when possible to take a look.

Recently discovered that waterproof sprays are available which can be used over textile/leather surfaces while googling why my Quechua boots were losing there water resistance. Sad part is these products seem to be availabe only abroad.

Sharing my experiences with my Knox Cross Knee guards purchased six months ago. They are being used only for touring purposes. Most recently, i used these on a 1000km roadtrip.

1)I bought these from outdoortravelgear.com after going through a lot of reviews online. Wanted to go for dainese v guards or forcefield armadillo, but neither were available here within my budget. Finally, splurged close to 4k on these.

2)The guards have a hard plastic shell with soft interior padding. I was apprehensive whether they would cause sweating due to the hard outer shell, turned out that my fears were unfounded. Sweating is there only at low speeds. No itching.

3)Require a little breaking-in for the elastic straps holding the guard to expand to optimum size. After the first two time i did not feel any discomfort on this account.

4)These are meant to be worn inside trousers only. i have no problem using them inside comfort fit jeans. Definitely won’t fit inside slim-fit jeans though. No way of putting these on without dropping down the pants

5)Knee cup is shaped such that the knee fits comfortably while in riding position. No discomfort even after wearing them continuously for 3 hours at a stretch.

6)Now coming to the major grouse i have with these knee guards. I always put on these while standing or with leg straightened. When the knees are bent as in riding position, the top straps slide down a little bit but do not pose any discomfort. When the leg is straightened, the top part of the strap bunches up under the hard plastic shell making the entire guard lose its snug fit and pop up a bit over the knees, leaving a little space between the guard and legs. This creates a weird feeling while walking with the lower part of guards attached to the legs and the upper part floating in air. It disappears after returning to riding position.

7) As mentioned, the guards keep popping out of the knee after getting off the bike. This is a deal breaker for me as i planned on keeping these guards on throughout the day, didn’t want to go through the trouble of dropping the pant down multiple times at office to put on/take off the guards. There is also no way to take them off keeping your pants on, so it might be a trouble for one day trips where you have to keep them on throughout the day and have no choice other than to keep walking with that weird feeling of the guards floating above the knee!

8)Because i wanted to be able to remove the guards whenever possible, wore them over jeans during a recent roadtrip. As sunny sir has rightly pointed out, these are not meant to be worn above jeans. The elastic straps stretch a lot and these is no friction between the inner padding and jeans to provide a good resistance to sliding. These are NO BETTER than the cheap ebay fox guards if worn over jeans IMO and will slide right off even before any impact!

9)Not crash tested & definitely hope will not have to!

Considering that the spartan guards also slide down while walking, i have decided to stick with these for the time being and go for Odysseus riding pants instead after piling up Vitamin M.

Personally RE boots are the same ones sold in your local shop with just an RE embellished logo. I've seen their jackets, gloves and boots too. As always boots look sturdy, but nothing out of the box. They are just plain old boots with RE embellishment. I'd suggest if you're really looking for a waterproof/water resistant boots, look for boots specifically made for them. These RE boots too come with gaiters and have less seams on them which is perfect for waterproofing/resistance. But I'd suggest you to look at their long riding boots with gaiters.

Jetstream II is a really good jacket. All Season jacket is one of the best jackets out there. Of all the jackets I've worn and sold, this one stays in my closet for more than 2.5 years and still is a bliss to wear. They were costly at that time, they were 11k but these new ones look a little cheaper, and don't forget the Octane II too, really a refreshed design with added pockets especially the shoulder and elbow decals looks real catchy . Just if they were to release them in different colors, it's got a winner in their hands.

If you go back quite a few pages, you can see this topic has been the hot topic. So many people asking the same question again and again. To repeat them, all these are 100% fake provided, they are cheap knockoffs of their original counterparts. I'd personally suggest you to get a proper riding jacket instead of the FOX Body armor. It isn't meant to be ridden on streets or their usage per se and for that matter knee guards. Have you seen motocross guys, wearing these jackets, with baggy attire and knee guards and plan textile gloves,it's because their use and purpose of the gear they were would come no way close to what's meant for proper road riding i.e. tarmac.

Never go for all these *plastic* items , except knee guards which comparatively good compared than wearing zero to no protection at all. The genuine version of these gear can cost you upwards of 20k.

Save some money, get a proper riding jacket with proper armor guards in place and gloves, helmet and riding pants if possible or a knee guard.

Cheers!

Mate, do you intend on touring or mostly city /short rides.
Because in the case of rynox rampage, it is perfect for city and short rides, but not advisable for long tours, not that is wont last for long tours, but it just isn't the right gear for that cause.
If long tours are not in cards, then i would say that rynox rampage is your best bet, the build uality is great and ease of use is just splendid.

If you are looking for decent protection, then the options you have are of spartan, scoyoco(good luck finding that now), Rynox rampage, Cramster twister(though it is classified as touring gloves, it is pretty comfy for short rides too, like i said, ease of use)
Then you have 2 more options form cramster, cramster flux - 1650 and cramster blaster 2100/-
But I have no reviews to offer of the last 2 mentioned ones.

I would suggest to keep away form knock off stuff like pro bikers or fox kinda duplicate models flooded in the market, they are of no good at all.

To keep it simple, go for a leather one, be it short or full gauntlet. You can look out for Cramster Flux, my favorite and RYNOX Rampage. Checked out the Rampage and the build quality is really excellent. Though the KOMBAT is even better. But I'd suggest you took have a look at Cramster Flux, DSG Revive, Nitro, Cramster TR2G.

Cheers!

THE END
