That's an excellent write up there, Ravi. Indeed being an user of RYNOX stuffs, I can just vouch for the quality of their stuffs. Very very good quality stuffs. KUDOS!

Will take delivery of Ninja 650 by month end. I am 5'6 & 83 kgs.
Now, the query: I have arjay mesh jacket with armour & rain lining. I dont have any other protection like knee pads or spine guard etc. Nor do I have riding pant. I have arjay boots and RE gloves. Considering I would like to use N650 for touring, what other things I should go in for ? And what brand & model/make ? Budget is not extravagant. I am not a track rider nor do I ride too fast. I drive my car at max 160-170. Thanks in advance.

For touring it'd be a wise decision to stick to a set of riding pants. Considering you have the RJays mesh jacket and a riding boot and riding glove, at least 85% of your gear requirements are on par. But the most important thing is helmet, I don't know which brand helmet you own. But if you do own one of those cheap helmets, it's time to dunk them for good and get yourself a good approved helmet.

Now to the riding pant versus knee pads. The latter is more comfortable and easily interchangeable when circumstances demand, but the former offers more protection, from wind, rain/slush you name it. Find the pant that fits you perfectly. A proper riding pant by default costs 5.5 to 6k. Seeing you're an RJays user, you can get their All Season Pants, which is now refreshed and looks even cooler than it's former counterpart.

Just 6k max for your current requirement considering the fact you have a good helmet. IF you're considering a helmet, you can finalize for 11 to 12k max.

    Cheers!

But their delivery charges are very high.. As much as the product itself.. Well international shipping is costly..
You can check for your self.. Select a product and go to buy in.. There you will see an option of international delivery.. The charges will be given there..

I must thank all my Xbhpians and XBHP.com for creating the riding safety gears awareness in me. Because on 12.08.13 I met with a major accident with a car at 80km/h. I was travelling on the tambaram- puzhal bypass at 6.30am. I was at the extreme left side of the bypass. The car was on the extreme right side. Suddenly the car made a left turn coming directly infront of me. I did a panic braking but since it was raining and not lot of room between me and the car - baam. I hit the car in the rear left side. Fortunately I was wear LS2 helmet, Rynox Kombat glove, Fox knee pad and elbow pad(ebay). I was saved by the rynox kombat gloves or else my hand would only have bones in it. The sad part is my bike took the major damage. Anyway I way not hurt at all thanks to God. The parts changed in the bikes are - crash guard, handle bar, front mud guard and clutch lever.

Planned on getting the knox knee guard (M/s Velavan) and Alpine star jacket( imported from Ausi but have to wait till Sept).

            Thank you guys once again.

            Cheers.

@accuengineer good that you are saved. . . BTW what about the protectors, jackets and pads we get in ebay.in, is it really good. . ? Cos we get it at a lower price, I think fox's starting price for riding jacket is around 1.2k or so, is it worth buying one from there and also the elbow and knee pads from there. . ? Ride safe. . .

Please don't go for Fox Riding gears in ebay. They are all cheap replica's. I was lucky this time. I brought it as it was my first riding gear. Not that good in quality. I am going in for Knox knee pad. Please don't compromise on safety.

If you're going for BACHOO MOTORS/PRS I'd suggest you to look out for HJC, KBC, RJays AIROH, SOL helmets from both of them. All these helmets are real good helmets, and cost upwards of 5k. SOL is a real deal in this aspect, at around 5k it's one of the most affordable helmets sought after. Next comes AIROH though it is Italian made and a little costly, absolutely worth every penny, but *BUT* make sure you try this particular brand helmet, because the sizing runs a little small even if it L or XL.

For pants you can go for RJays from Bachoo or AGV from PRS, but the latter costs a bomb for the same stuff offered by RJays. And wearing a spectacle isn't an issue, just make sure on which helmets you're comfortable and go for it. Comfort is prime, and then comes protection and budget.

being a student surely is a trouble when you need some fund, and I totally agree. But here's a quick-tip out of my past experience I used to straight away pick a 500/- out of the monthly budget allotted to me and keep it aside in my savings bag when ever I was in a mood to buy something.

Hey buddy, though I am not properly informed about your safety riding gears, I would therefore like to point out, in order, what to purchase first:

                              1. A good and comfortable helmet
                              2. A Riding Jacket (please avoid elbow guards or any such combo etc)
                              3. A pair of leather gloves.
                              4. A pair of knee guards.
                              5. A pair of riding boots.

Now, coming to your question about Cramster knee guards - they are good for what you pay for and has been recommended many times on the thread by the users. So save the money in steps and go for it.

A riding Jacket is any day better than buying elbow guards/protectors. It covers almost all the necessary protection and is a big peace of mind. As you will be looking to buy a good but budget Jacket, the best option is to stick with Spartan Pro Gear Icarus . Keep saving till the day you get to own it.

P.S. Recently it was informed on the thread that the Icarus can be bought at 4300/- with option of either a rain liner/winter liner. To this I would suggest you to buy a winter liner and to tackle the rains buy a bigger size of a rain coat to wear over the jacket

                              Warm Regards,
                              Pranav

There are times in life when we humans want everything at once. I was intimidated and on the 9th cloud after taking the delivery of my much awaited Duke200 last month on the 16th.

Was riding a Rx100 with a 3 year old cross helmet and gloves, so wanted my first ride on the Duke with all the new gears. Wasn't a good idea to buy everything at once.

                                Bought :

                                1) LS2 FF351 MatteBlack Helmet
                                2) LS2 Urban Men Riding Jacket
                                3) DMS Boots
                                4) Cross Gloves
                                5) AXO Knee guards

Out of these 5, I am satisfied with everything but one, the LS2 Jacket.

I had done my fair bit of research on riding jackets before making the investment, but sometimes, you're just not at your best and make some investments under influence/haste (your own/others). Mine was haste !

                                Pros :
                                1) Looks like a normal jacket, so you're not an alien walking in the Mall wearing this one
                                2) Dries pretty quickly (because it gets in that condition too, very fast)
                                3) The fit and finish are good
                                4) Good ventilation
                                5) The pockets are waterproof
                                6) Easily removable liner and guards

                                Cons :
                                1) Its not waterproof
                                2) The liner doesn't absorb sweat quickly
                                3) Guards don't hold there position
                                4) The cuff is pretty uncomfortable
                                5) Lacks a proper waist band

I have done 4670 kms on my Duke since I got the registration on 20th July. All wearing the LS2 Jacket.

Its pretty good when it comes to riding in pleasant weather of cities like Pune and B'lore. But gives up in a light shower.

Ventilation is through 2 slits in front, looks like a pocket but is actually for ventilation, need to be zipped down from neck in hot weather.

I bought a good quality rainsuit for the rains, to wear over the jacket, which turned out to be a life saver. As Duke makes you all dirty, so even if the jacket was waterproof, it would still get dirty.

The best part, it looks and feels great, you can use it on a daily basis, wherever you go, mall, movie, shopping. Because carrying the gear at such places becomes troublesome !!

So, I'm finally comfortable with my purchase and I don't regret it !

                                Riding isn't just a passion, it's a religion !
