Can anyone in chennai guide me to some place where i could look for riding jackets. Just visited Spartan pro gears and saw helios but it doesn't have a winter liner. Cuz i am from uttarakhand and ultimately i will b using the jacket there.

Many guys here are using the SPG PERSEUS knee guards, a question for them..
I want to know how comfortable they are if we wear them for long hours straight ?
Have long classes and can't take them out.


Spartan ProGear

The PERSEUS is a good knee pad, and really really I mean really good quality stuff. But over time as any other velcro stuff, they do tend to elastisize and give up, but that's going to happen after a long time, so you need not worry. The aspect I liked the most about it was, my calf is a little fat, so they had enough velcro for both the thin and thick legged guys, pretty impressive for the price point.

I'm on the lookout for a neck brace as I've been experiencing neck pain thanks to dirt biking on Blore's fantastic moonscape. Although I have begun exercising neck and upper body muscles, it will take some time to strengthen the neck and upper body. In the mean time, I was hoping a neck brace would keep the neck safe and perhaps even support the weight of the helmet. Would really appreciate advice on buying a neck brace in India as it doesn't seem to be readily available.

p.s: I have a duke 200 and use a AFX helmet and wear a spartan helios jacket.

While I searched for the same in the past, I couldn't find any locally. Locally the only neck braces available are like the one prescribed by a orthopaedic/physiotherapist.

Later I dropped the idea of getting one as my pain had subsided and I had managed to do some jugaad myself, for a while I was using a medium hard square sponge of 1" thickness and 4" inch width inside the jacket collar supporting the back of my helmet, though not as effective as a brace, it helped a little. Over time when the pain subsided I stopped using it.

Thanks for the jugaad idea, I'll try that tomorrow. As for the site(motosport), I've already written to them with my specific requirement. Hopefully they will reply sometime soon. About the pain: I am glad that you could get over it. I am also looking to raise the handlebar height since I am almost 6'2" and actually have to bend over a little too much and keep correcting myself and diving deeper into the front seat but that doesnt help much. Mainly its the jarring ride over potholes. I also wouldn't mind longer travel soft suspension.

Hopefully with regular exercise, I should be able to get over it, but the pain is killing me right now.

Btw Vijay, what's your opinion on the Royal Enfield boots from their gear catalog? I have come across only 1 test that was done by an online journo, but no user reviews…

Apart from RE's textile stuffs, the boots section are good to for starters. Nothing to go gaga about, just an RE embellished leather boot. And you can get the same in many e-commerce sites for a considerably less price. Both the short and full are leather and are basic standard leather boots.

Hey bro. You can buy it from a.h. Helmets in oshiwara. It's near oshiwara police station. I bought the SPG Icarus too about 2 mths back from him. Set me back 4800rs. Make sure he sells it to you for the right price because he's known to overcharge at times.

I'm currently located in Hyderabad and desperately need a jacket for my ride to blore, this weekend.
There is a store called adventure on the rocks in Hyderabad who sell their own brand called 'Zeus' .. I have personally tried them but wasn't able to judge well if compared to SPARTAN.

Sad part is, there are no stocks of Spartan in Hyderabad.

Could someone help me on this?

ZEUS is the brand of AOTR, these are almost unainmously praised by the Himalaya Odyssey. These jackets are standard for their Tour de Himalaya and are sponsored by AOTR. But so far there hasn't been any concrete review of them as such, but these are pretty good jackets, coupled with the so called "space age" stuff they offer along with it. It should be nothing more than the jacket you're seeing elsewhere. It's a good choice. If it works for Bulletians, it definitely should work for you. But it's always a good idea to see them in person if you have the chance.
