it seems like cramster is providing the same 'hybrid' jacket (albeit with exception of leather being non-perforated) with more liners for less money!!

i've heard/read rave reviews of spartan products specially there built quality, where as cramster got mixed reviews previously, are there recent products on par with spartan?
Cramster is still an Indian brand, but for the price and value they are almost give almost every competitor a good run for their money. Breezer and Eclipse one of my favorite products, mainly because they affordable, yet with the goodies to last a lifetime. The only area where Crammy lacks is the armor, it's isn't they are good, but they use plastic padded foam which are kinda hard, unlike the Knox stuffs where are 100% foam and flexible. Yes comparatively the non perforated lacks the breathability but it's full leather sleeved, which means prime protection unlike the DSG and HYPERION where only the collar bone is protected. Both are good jackets, and both offer good protection. It ultimately comes down to your budget and the one you like.

      The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

This thread has a way too much information to consume, which is certainly a good thing :-)

I am in the market for new gear (jacket, gloves, knee pads). I already have vega helmet which I am not totally happy with but I will change it after few months. My budget is around 13k. I have been shortlisting lot of gear but I haven't finalized on anything so far. I still have 10-20 more pages of reading to do ;-)

I ride Yamaha FZ-S red color and my helmet is Vega boolean type which has red graphics. This may sound little off-topic but what color combination you use for your gear? Does it match the major color of your bike or you like to have contrast color? I think the contrast color combination would be more visible in the night and to some extend safe for that matter. So, whats your choice of choosing gear color?

EDIT: It would be super helpful if you post pics as well

          Black!
P.S. My Bike is white, and Jacket's got reflective piping on it so its visible during night ride.

Whenever i buy my gears, the color emphasis is rather on reflective & safety like using safety colors like red/yellow. Passive colors like green/blue are also ok but the color white is easy to see at night but could be issue in fog while black does same at night. So if you can buy something that has red/yellow/white & is easy to spot, it's ok. However most of gear come with color black include safety color design, reflective tapes & surfaces that improve visibility. So it will just boil down to your choice & good brands

            PS - i own a red apache 160 2012

Bought a pair of dsg revive gloves.first time user of bike gloves.fit is correct.no need of breaking in required for me as far as fit concerned.the glove does not bite and its tight and airy(used it in noon heat).
issues for a first time user:
1.unable to use the two finger brake lever approach.i end up grabbing with all four fingers.meaning lifting two fingers=the other two also automatically gets lifted!down to reduced flexibility of the gloves being new maybe.this will require breaking in.
2.reduced feel?i no longer know/feel the different buttons, how much throttle i have given.believe this is down to using leather.will most probably get used to this+adapt in a few kms, hopefully.
3.oh boy, forget tasks requiring dexterity..you are now officially regressed to monkey-dom.the opposable thumb does not exist.helmet d ring?-easy when no gloves but with gloves not so.even putting on backpack was not easy first.again down to being a new user.good thing i can answer calls with home button on my smartphone.

Congratz on the buy & for last part, i will suggest what VJ sir recommended - get a stylus if your phone supports one if using the phone with gloves is a hassle

All part of first time experience, you will get used to it. That covers point 1,2,3

Now using phone , if yo uhave touch screen, no use, you must remove the gloves and use, unless you have a stylus. But in the scemem of things, you have a short cuff glove, how hard can it be. So remove the love and use. Or th emore costly solution, get a sony phone which has touch screen which can be used with gloves.. :-P

As far as putting the D-ring is concerned, you will get used to putting it with gloves on, I had problems initially, but then i got used to it and now can easily put the r-ring in place with gloves on.

                  Cheers

                    Hi guys,

Just ordered the Balaclava from SPG, but really want to know about the gloves. I do mostly city rides, so was looking at SPG Phaeton, someone was saying the SPG is currently selling it at a discount (not reflecting in the website atleast). I am little bit skeptical about the Fitting, since currently i use Probiker gloves which are L size, and i measured my palms through the inch tape (came around 9 inches) Which means i should get the Medium(M) size gloves.

Totally confused on the size part, can anyone guide me through, my palm may be small but my fingers are not as far as i can tell.

P.s : alternate options for gloves are welcome, the Probiker gloves are decent (i had slip 2 times) saved me quite a bit (except the palm area). The probiker gloves start tearing apart after 4-5 months usage (daily ride about 100kms ) delhi-gurgoan

Well, as mentioned in my earlier posts, the Phaeton gloves are available at a discounted price of 1500 if ordered online, with shipping it comes to 1650.
It hasnt been updated on the website and i believe the dealers who have the old stock would sell it on the original MRP.
The Phaeton is a good vfm product if bought at this discounted price. I have used it 2-3 times and found it well suited for city riding. Does pretty decent on tours, but not advised for winter touring as my hands did get a chill during my last night ride on the way back to Mumbai.
Regarding the size issue, the best u can do is visit the nearest Spartan dealer and try out the same glove and you would get an idea as to what would fit you best.
If thats still not possible, just call them on the helpline and enquire about the exchange policy that they offer. Hope it helps. Ride safe.

Other option would be the Rynox Rampage. That is one heck of a city riding gloves, super duper comfortable. But Spartan doesn't fall back on this, it is also very good, so now you are left with a comparo of price.
If my memory serves me right the rmapage comes at 1.7 or something, do confirm before making a buy.

and this is why many say dsg quality is not so good.bought it at noon and by afternoon this is the durability!no one like sunnyside from spg pro to help customers out either (heard dsg not good at customer service).luckily the shop owner replaced the defective piece but now I have lost peace of mind over this product.anyways no more dsg.this is the last product I will get from that brand.and that too the left hand one which is not used as much got damaged. if only spartan had similar product in this price range.

also saw the new puma short boots.quoted 8k.brown and black colours.finish is definitely much better than a* short boots.has lots of thick Velcro patches to adjust fit.felt solid.really spg should consider bringing wallet friendly and vfm riding boots like their jackets.

The rampage won't be so good during the winter, it is primarily a mesh glove with thin leather lining, but it is really comfortable for city rides, early morning rides might be a bit tricky.
I think the SPG uses a thicker leather covering as compared to the rynox. I hope somebody could confirm that.

Yeah, rynox website is down for maintenance, you could read the review of the rampage in my signature, but really i have given a 2 line summary of the same , above.
