Bangalore guys, could you please tell me if its possible to get Scoyo jackets at JC road, if yes which shop?

Whats the cheapest option for buying a jacket?
I am planning a pretty long ride (1200kms), but a little short on cash for a jacket. Would be able to spend around 3-4K, do i have a chance of getting one?
same here a bit tight on cash after numerous crashes and bike purchases.
me too searching for jk17 but due to the current unavailability thinking of moving on to icarus from spartan pro gear cost around 4.8k dont know much about it though.seniors advice needed do reply

JK17 is a beautiful jacket, the edge it had with others is it was very price competitive, but unfortunately it doesn't breathe well as others as it's full mesh in the front and it doesn't have a rain liner or any liner for that matter. The jacket itself acts as a duo, where it's biggest bane unfortunately for our climatic conditions. If you sweat a lot or are looking for a jacket that comes with good ventilation, check the mesh types the cheapo we have here is the Spartan Icarus follwed by DSG Aero

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
            The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

What if I'm ready to pay 6K for a riding jacket with good ventilation during summers and protection from rains nut without compromising on safety? How about the Helios? or the octane?

Many here are asking for icarus review. Let me try to help you a bit. I am using it for more than 2 months and have used for more than 1000 km including two trips, one of 400kms and other 200 kms.

                My take:

                Looks: average

Its a summer jacket and it offers good ventilation. Rain liner is practically of no use due of its short lenght. The armour used is CE approved and is of foam type, which do provide good protection. The fitting on arm is not snug but wearing rain liner or a thick clothing inside does help.

Reflecting material is used for better night visiblity

The microfibre type soft fabrics at neck and wrist do add to comfort. Plus a microfibre pocket is there inside the zipper around chest area, where I keep the mobile while touring as i frequently need to use it as gps.

Cleaning is also pretty easy, just dip the jacket in a bucket with water and detergent and leave for 5 min, then take out and rinse. It shines as new.

I met a crash wearing the jacket at speed more than 60kmph and just got few brushesh on my forearms. The condura fabric was torn due to abrasion.

And it served its purpose well. Unfortunately I was not wearing gloves and riding pants/knee guards, which resulted in injured knee and a wounded wrist, and it took more than a month to heal. I learned a good lesson. Never ever expose youself to risk. Always wear riding gears.

Overall if anyone is on budget and want a jacket with a decent protection and easy to maintain/clean I would certainly suggest it. Dont think twice go and buy it.

If anyone has any querry pls feel free to ask.

How much did it cost you btw?? Do these jackets fare well in rains?? Because it so happened that, i got myself a pair of dsg nitro gloves, but staying in mumbai, it became highly impractical to wear them in rains. So just querying, the jacket looks cool however.

Both Helios and Octane are basically the same jackets with the former having an additional liner (you can get one by paying extra, and subject to avlblty as reported by the Founder himself) I've sold my Octane years back which was the old model. Swapped it for kind of an all weather jacket from the same stable.

Spartan Helios is a very good jacket with good creature comforts like headphone port, removable neck microfiber patch which is a welcome addition which I loved as it can be washed, Microfiber is soft and tends to get fuzzy with sweat and dust and cleaning them requires the entire jacket to be on hand, whereas this removable stuff is very welcome feature that I love. But I'd suggest you the HELIOS for the creature comfort that the RJays lacks.

                    Cheers!

I bought it for INR 4800. In mild drizzle it may work. But in rain it allows water inside. You will need to use a rain coat over it. Since thr jacket doesn't have leather rain water would not harm the jacket by any means. And Thanks for liking it.

Came across a Alpinestar jacket its complete pure leather, and the protection guards cannot be removed. Below is the image i found while googling.

Could not really find this jacket listed online. I asked the shopkeeper the model, and he didn't know it. Price quoted was 6.5K. I am not sure if this one is a fake or a genuine one but the leather quality was awesome. I tried this jacket and it fit me perfectly, i really like pure leather jackets. I can bargain and bring the price down between 5.5-6k but is it worth it?
                          Please advise.

Most probably fake, if it is not listed in a* site then chances are it is fake.

If you come across textile/leather/or a combination of both that sell for a meagre amount, be rest assured that it's 100% fake. We have quite a few members here who paid a handsome amount for a fake, thinking it's geniune A* which is not the case.

Non removable might sound trouble when it comes to cleaning and handling, and don't go just because it's leather, you get more more better leather at 3k to 4k which are sold in our country. But it being a leather is way better than the textile which blows up when a spill is encountered, whereas leather resists tearing and just gets scuffed.

But if you feel the armor is good, not the plastic types why not take a chance, but if you ask for my opinion I wouldn't opt for it purely because of the armor factor, since I can't remove the armor and I can't fathom whether it's certified or non-certified. But full marks on leather. But 0 on armor and et al.

                              Cheers!

                              • Riding Gear for day-to-day office commute

                                Hi,

I ride on my impulse daily to office, at present only riding gear is the helmet, a vega boolean. I always felt of the need of proper riding gear. What you guys think a proper riding gear should comprise of when it comes to daily commute having following conditions.

                                1. I am driving through a mix of freeway (5-10 mins) and city roads with full of traffic (15-20 mins) up and down.
                                2. I will be always wearing a formal shoe and formal dress.
                                3. Riding gear should not take much time to put on and off (in the busy mornings esp)
                                4. There will be atleast 5 mins waiting in stand still (put together all signals and traffics clogs) and chennai is hot 10 months a year, and it humid too.
                                5. Speed variations are like 40-65 kmph (70%) 65-75 kmph (30%)

So what kind of gears would be making sense in above conditions?
Its crime to ride a car alone, so I ride bike :).

                                0 to 100 in 9.63 secs - Machine Name : Usain Bolt :)
