I've a V-Shaped upper body due to which I had to take a Medium size. the jacket is slightly loose at the stomach area but the armour fits perfectly on the shoulders.

So, got myself the Spartan Zeus riding boots.

The looks are great at a single glance, but it could do with a bit of proper finishing works, Sunnyside_up! , i hope you are hearing this..just a simple feedback from a customer.

And the boots set in beautifully, all it took was 2 min of walking to get used to it and then about 20 kms riding it and everything felt normal.
Problems likely to be faced are like
1.finding it tough to hold ground while in stop go traffic
2.Slipping of gear while trying to up-shift
3.tough to climb stairs(that will always be there, it is not meant for that :-P)

And i rode about 150kms today with these boots in the searing heat and did not find much problem with the heat either.
senotrius , the boots has arrived at DJ, size 42 and 43 are taken, 42 by me and 43 for another friend of mine..

P.S: This is not a review, just a initial impression.

Review will be done soon.

Going for a 500kms ride tmrow , let's see how it fairs tmrow.

Cheers

Those boots are expensive, you can look for military surplus boots which are cheaper.

I am kind of skeptical about OLIVEPLANET. I've mailed them numerous times regarding a military tee, but to no avail. Tried calling them up, no one cared to even answer. That being said, though people have bought stuffs from OP, there is a different argument that e-commerce website is in the first place a humbug. Though I can't verify it on hand, just with respect to the word-of-mouth. Just so everyone gets an idea before purchasing stuffs.
Sunnyside_up! I would personally like to congratulate SPG for bringing an excellent boot the ZEUS at an smashing price point. In a time period where even the synthetic leather cost upwards for 15k for another well know brand. It's great to see Spartan bringing in quality stuffs at an good price proposition.

Cheers!

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

True, however my manager had bought dog tags for everyone in the team so when I wanted yi buy boots for myself, I just went ahead and bought 'em.(After being paranoid for about a month or two :-P).
I got these gosgo boots worth 1k and a set of 4 bungee chords for another ~200rs.
I got both of them in about 4-5 days and even though the packaging could have been better, there was no damage to the shoes or the bungee chords itself.
I've been using the everyday for about a month now, no issues till date.
Shoes, I think it is waterproof (rather it should be) because its hell not breathable !!!

I've always wanted to purchase a camo or military green their tees Swat and Commando shirts, though it's comparatively costlier, it was due to no proper verification from them, I ditched the plan. Now it was close to months back as long as I can remember.

Their AB-29 leather boot is the one I liked, but it still doesn't have a steel toe, but then at 2.6k ain't cheap, but should fit the bill for a good comfortable day to day ride.

Cheers!

• re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread

As in impulse buyer, I had my first pair of riding gloves as the pro bikers. It was the cheapest and quickest buy of my motorcycle gear. Over 6 months, the gloves have started losing a stitch or two here and there. To date, I don't know what exactly were these gloves good for, but I really dont know what they were bad for either, since I have never had the experience of a fall wearing them(touch wood). But as my riding style has matured, and so has my sense of getting proper gear, I am all set to buy a pair of 'proper' riding gloves.
And so the dilemma starts.....

I have read through this thread extensively, and found out various options available for various purposes and price points. Also I have gained the most valuable knowledge, that there isn't really any such thing as an 'All purpose' glove out there. So I have narrowed down my search to the following:

I am looking for a short cuffed, well ventilated glove offering descent protection(especially since summer is upon us, and i tend to sweat a few gallons more than an average person).
Budget, unfortunately is a concern for me, so stuff like A* is well beyond consideration, and im more inclined towards gloves ranging from 2 - 2.5k.

Upon some searching, following appealed to me:

1. Spartan Phaeton. 2100/-
These are my first choice, since it has what Im exactly looking for, good ventilation, descent protection with leather palm.
Concern here is the lack of extra protection on the lower palm area, and knuckles. which i have seen is much better cushioned, in other gloves.

2. Spartan pegasus 2600/-
A tad over my original budget, but i can fit it in if its really worth it. Being a complete leather, i believe it would offer better protection than the phaeton. Knuckle protectors also seem to be in place.
Concern here is that this glove seems all set to cook my hand in mumbai summers.

3. Zeus Street Rider 1900/-
These seem to be at par with the phaeton, and have better knuckle protection too. Palm protection is still a bit thin, or Im not sure if im just being paranoid about that.
Concern here, is that I have not heard/read any reviews about these, and the trust factor isnt established, which seems to be up there with spartan, since I am using the Spartan Helios jacket for a while now, and found it to be well satisfactory.

4. Zeus Street Rider Pro 2300/-
As the name suggest, its just an upgrade of the former, but all round seems quite fitting to all my requirements. They claim that the perforated leather will allow smooth air flow and ventilation, but i have my doubts. If thats really the case, and if someone can vouch for this brand, I believe this is going to me my next glove, unless i hear really bad reviews.

So experts.. please help me out here!

Thanks for reading through, awaiting a few responses.

Cheers!

Long term review of the RJ Octane and HJC CL-10

Octane:
It has been almost 30 months since I have bought the jacket. Pretty much daily use and occasional long tours.
Jacket is still in good shape (a few threads have come out from the sleeves) and armor still has not shriveled\crumbled.

CL-10:
Got it from PRS for ~8k. First used it on my Mumbai-Chennai ride. (Big mistake as it was not run in and my ears pained as hell).
Overall it is pretty silent till 110 kmph. After that it tends to whistle a bit. Ventilation is decent (Not as good as my previous Sparx Rebel).
Only nitpick is that the paint quality is not as good as the Sparx.

Regards,
