    • Riding pants forVERY SHORT guy...plz advice

Nasty summers are over in delhi and foggy days are far, seems like a perfect season for motorcycle trip.

Hello to all. I am new to world of motorcycling(just few long trips to my belt).
I have been unable to get a riding pant.. for touring purpose because of my short height (5 ft 1"...proud of that 1).
My budget is 5500 and is flexible.
I am looking for 600 cordura ones with removable CE armour , inner lining and something which does not look awkward on Avenger220.
Most of the brands offer pants which have too long inseam and total length.
I dont think i can get them altered that much because knee guards should be at knee ..right?
please tell me what are my options(in delhi)
Can i get them custom made at any place?
I dont want want to wear knee guards ( pseudo protection and not comfortable).

Build quality is pretty decent, soft foam like material prevents scratches on the tank.

Velcro straps are wide, and knee movement feels quite comfortable. Company claims the "protetor" is of carbon fiber, though I'm skeptical about it, but feels far far better than knock-offs available in the market and doesn't seem like it will break easily (feels same as Primal gloves).

Though I was quite inclined towards Cramster bionic set, but thought of taking a chance. Hope all goes well.

        Regards.

DSG has come up with a new Jacket.. DSG EVO. It is a Mesh Jacket with 600D Cordura in the impact areas and CE rated armors for elbow and shoulder. The back protector is just form(All Armors are removable. You can upgrade to a CE rated back protector later). It has got reflective pipings as well. It comes with a detachable Rain Liner and a Thermal Liner which makes it an all weather Jacket. This is yet to be listed in their website.. But is available in the stores. I personally saw this yesterday in the store in Kochi. Looks and Feels nice.. Priced at 5K/-. I am thinking of getting one... Check the DSG dealer in your city...

I am planning to get a jacket for me.
My budget is around 7k. I live in mumbai, and I tend to perspire much with little exposure to heat.
I've sorted few jackets such as
DSG Evo Jacket - 4,999.00Rs-dsg evo jacket
DSG Genesis Jacket: Black - 7,999.00Rs-dsg genesis
              Spartan ProGear - SPG icarus.
              Spartan ProGear - SPG helios
              And Rjays swift.
I am looking for all weather jacket.
Which is the best jacket amongst these?
Also is there any other recommendation?

For an all weather Jacket, I would recommend DSG Evo.
DSG Genesis does not seem to be a right choice for Mumbai Climate.
SPG Icarus does not have a thermal liner.
Rjays Swift also does not contain the thermal liner and the cordura used in impact areas is 500D. The DSG Evo uses 600D for impact areas.
SPG Helios is a Jacket used by lot of people. But again the thermal liner is not there and you get almost all the features in DSG Evo(except features like - Internal Key Clip, Silicon Port for Headphone etc). Considering the fact that it is priced 1.8K less, its quite a bargain.

Another option you left out is Cramster Breezer 4S. The price difference is justified by the presence of CE rated back armor in Breezer 4S. In Evo it is an optional upgrade which you can go for if you wish to... (Still I think it will fit your budget)

I would be getting an Evo tomorrow. Will post pictures and details once I get it..

                          Hi all,

Got myself a new Riding Jacket - DSG Evo. It is a new riding jacket introduced to the market few days back. I was not aware of it when I reached the store. My plan was to go for a Cramster Breezer 4S. But at the store, when I saw the Evo and its features, I decided to go with it. In the initial feel, the Evo felt slightly heavy(very marginal) than the Breezer. But once we wear it, the difference is not felt.

(This picture is a collage of the two images from planetDSG website -
                          DSG Evo Jacket - 4,999.00Rs)

Here is an Initial Hands on review of the new DSG Evo.

DSG Evo is a new Riding Jacket. It resembles "Tour Master Intake Air 3" in its looks and features. It is a very well made Jacket and which looks good. I am not sure if it comes in other color options. The one available in stock was an all Black model which was fine with me.

Here are the features of this Jacket.

The Jacket is constructed with Mesh allowing ample airflow. This is really helpful in hot and humid climate. The quality of the mesh used is very good.

It comes with a Rain liner(detachable) and Thermal liner(detachable). It looks good to me as of now. Will post my experience about this after using for some time.

The Impact areas are protected with 600D Cordura. This protects your skin from road rashes in case of a crash.

DSG has added few light paddings below the cordura in the impact areas. You can see it in the picture below.
It is very thoughtful of them as it adds to the abrasion resistance of the Jacket.

The elbow and shoulders are protected with removable CE rated armor. The back protector is made of form. It is removable and we can upgrade it to a CE Rated one if we want.

The sleeves are precurved. The elbow armors could be kept in place with adjustable elastic straps at forearm and biceps.

The Jacket has got adjustable waist straps with Velcro to provide a proper fit. This helps in holding the Jacket to your waist. It won't slide up when you are riding.

With the liners removed, the Jackets would be having more room inside and may be a bit loose for the rider. It has got an snap-in strap under the sleeve to make the jacket snug fit when the liners are removed. Together with the Waist Strap, This ensures good fit.

Evo is provided a liner in collar and cuffs which is made of moisture wicking material. The same is provided for the rain liner also. It comes with a zipper to attach your riding pants at the rear.

Evo comes with 2 external pockets and The rain liner and thermal liner contains a pocket to hold your mobile phone. All the zippers used are YKK Zippers. The stitch quality seems to be good. There are no loose stitches. (Will update more later... after riding for sometime).

Jacket is provided with grey color reflective piping in the front and back. The impact areas are piped with White reflective strips. The picture below is taken in a completely dark room with a torch pointed to the Jacket to give an idea of how the reflectors would work at night.

Update on DSG Evo (Date - 19th May, 2015)

I have seen few remarks on XBhp stating a decrease in the quality of DSG Products. But without having no problems for 6 months of usage, I was relieved. But everything turned upside down in one day.

I have been using DSG Evo for 6-7 months now(Approx - 4000 - 4500 kms). Last week, while I was riding, I noticed that the elastic strap to keep the armor in place on the left hand was not fastened. I stopped the bike to clip it on and found that the press button base is not there in place. It came off form the sleeve and there was a hole in the place where the press button base was installed. The Base was still clipped on to the Button. Please see the picture attached.

I think it is a design flaw to place the press button base directly in the mesh without any reinforcement material in between. As the hole to fix the base may get bigger after using for sometime, It is likely to come off like this... (Obviously after the warranty period is over).

I tried contacting Team PlanetDSG via email asking if they can repair it. I also promised to pay the repair charges. If it is beyond repair, I asked for a replacement piece of the Mesh Jacket alone(Without the armors and Rain and Thermal Liner) at a discounted price for which I offered to pay.

Seeing no response to the mail send to [email protected], I tried calling their head quarters. One of the number was answered and I was asked to send an email to [email protected]. I immediately forwarded the mail to them. No response was there for the second mail also. I called them up few more times to check on this and every time they confirmed that they got my email and repeated that they will get back to me. Today evening I called them again and they updated me that they cannot do anything on this. They even told me that they cannot send the mesh jacket separately(without armors and liners) even if I am ready to pay for it.

I was asked to repair it locally with the help of any local tailors which made me doubt about the care they take in the manufacturing process. To my knowledge, the thread used in stitching a riding jacket is as important as the material used in the construction of the jacket.

Guys... If this problem happened after using for 2-3 years, we can account for the wear and tear and leave it. But this happened with sparse usage in a span of 6 - 7 months.

Verdict: I am forced to believe that the remarks on the decrease in quality of DSG products are true. Though I learned it the hard way. The After Sales Service also felt bitter... I wont buy anything from DSG nor recommend it... Buy only if you plan to use it as a "Use and Throw" item.

The closest match for an alternate would be a Spartan Helios ( Rs.6799/-) or
a Cramster Breezer 4S ( Rs.5950/-) which is being used by many riders.
Helios is an excellent Jacket. But it would drain 1.8K more from your pocket and does not comes with a thermal liner.
Breezer comes with a thermal liner and have the advantage of having CE rated back protectors.
                          Go for these options...

Disclaimer* - These are my opinion which is an based on my personal experience and hands on feel of the Jacket. Some of you may have difference of opinion.

I would say around 1000bucks. I recently had a friend pick up Alpinestars Bio Armor Back Protector - RevZilla for $24 from US.

It would cost you around Rs.1200/- to Rs. 1600/-. Depends on the brand. I am yet to explore on this.. But saw these to be good options..
