I ordered knee&elbow pads from Cramster a few days before they shifted their shop. I got it in 2 days.
Elbow pads to be worn on bare elbows only.
Wore the knee pads inside my pants coz they would have damaged the tank for sure!
What is the difference between bionic&non-bionic ones btw?

is it cumbersome to wear inside formals.I am asking particularly if I have to wear them from office to home & back.
also read a few pages back for the difference.

Cramster is the cheapest quality option you can get. Elbow pads should be fine even inside formal shirts. Knee pads are basically supposed to be worn over pants/jeans, but I wore them inside coz I didn't wanna damage my tank. I had to wear a particularly loose fitting pant for that! I think you can still wear them pretty easily over your pants if you don't mind them touching your tank.
Overall, the knee pads can be worn in about 15-20secs., but the elbow pads take a bit longer because of the meshed lining inside. Have a look on the Cramster site.

The The AStar Bionic ones offer a little more protection by covering the whole knee joint and has a small aluminium insert for added strength.

Lastly, the Bionics are pretty huge and don't forget, expensive. Also, they will most definitely scuff your bike's tank. Don't know about the Non-bionics though.

Also, the reflex ones by Astar seem to have longer shin-area protection, atleast from the pics. While the Bionics are mainly knee guards ONLY with a small area covering the shins upto the middle of the shin-bone.

I plan to buy full length riding boots later on and a proper textile based riding pant as well. So in either case(i.e with the Bionics or with the Riding Trousers,) the boots would complete the leg protection to quite an extent.
Hope this answers your question buddy!

Pardon me, but I still didn't understand-does it mean that bionic ones can be worn inside, or are the ones with metal inserts classified as bionic? Could you please take a look at my Cramster knee guards on the site Cramster: India's first premium bike luggage (saddlebags tankbags) and riding gear (Jackets Gloves) &tell me if they're bionic or non-bionic too?

                          1) No. Bionic ones cannot be worn inside. BUT!! This depends entirely on the type of trousers you wear. If they are really loose then any large knee guard will fit beneath your clothing.

                          2) "Bionic" basically means that a product classified as one, is designed after putting in a lot more thought into how the joints/physique of the human body work. In this case a "Bionic" knee-guard is one that is made up of two or more parts so that it can articulate with the bending of the knee.

                          3) Also, "Bionic" is a term used under trademark only by AlpineStars for their protective gear. Since, they are THE most familiar and popular brand, it invariably found space in our day-to-day motorcycle lingo.

                          4) "Metal inserts" are a feature exclusive to the AlpineStars range. And ARE NOT mandatory in the design of "Bionic" knee guards.

                          5) From the sole pic of them, I cannot decipher if the Cramsters are Bionic or not. Although they seem to be startlingly similar in design to the now widely spoken about AStars Bionic Knee Guards.

                          6) Most importantly, it doesn't make much of a difference. At the end of the day you have been the smarter rider in purchasing Protective Gear than the next door neighbour who rides his motorcycle without any gear whatsoever. So relax and stop worrying about such trivial nomenclature.

I do hope you understood my explanation though.

                          Regards,
                          Joey

                          • Thank you so much Joey, I guess the Cramster guards are bionic, coz they do flex to accomodate my knees&elbow when I bend them. Guess they are a good product indeed!
Now one more question: @All: Do you wear knee/elbow pads daily while riding to office?
