  • re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread

    Hi All,

I am new to XBHP, I really thank all the members who contributed to this thread. As an average biker i wanted a riding jacket and this thread helped me to decide and buy Spartan Helios Jacket.
I bought the same from Biking spirit store in Bangalore and the price i could not negotiate as the seller sells at fixed MRP as seen on the website (Rs 6799). Am Happy with the build quality it offers and as well it makes a look like body builder once u wear it ....!!!!!

Next i have plan to buy a better helmet than current one (bit of Orange tint) and a new pair of gloves shortly. I see MT helmet has a good review. I am getting my KTM RC 200 delivered by next week. so this is a preparation for the new ride ....

    Regards,
    MKR

I've narrowed my search down to the following items-

                1) Jacket- Spartan Atlas/Icarus

                2) Aspida Perseus Knee guards

                3) Aspida Phaeton gloves

I had been to Ladakh last May, but didn't get an opportunity to drive/ride there. A 'proper' trip has been on the back of my mind ever since, and God-willing, I might do a full fledged road trip ( Bangalore-Leh-Bangalore ) on my Duke by this year end.

My concern is, will the gear I've posted above suffice? ( temperatures, rain and crash protection ).

Ps- Yes, I still need to find boots..

Pps- I'm open to alternatives and suggestions.

I would suggest you go up a notch on the jacket option.. The Helios is a very good option considering the protection, though knox armour doesn't come cheap, it's definitely worth it. The Helios is a mesh jacket, and comes with a rain liner ( considerably good for warmth too - thermals can take care of the extreme cold)
Gloves- good option-though check out DSGs also..
for cold weather just wear a pair of surgical gloves inside your Riding gloves.. It'll keep your hands very warm..Problem solved.

Knee guards - again good. There are cheaper options. Opinion about the protection of the cheaper plastic knee guards vary. So do your research.. If you don't like them to be seen outside, stick to your option.

I personally use the helios and Perseus.. Good options considering Bangalore weather.. (the hot bits)

Boots- i found that JCB had good steel toed boots for 2-2.5k. Bought one online. Good leather, steel toe is amazing... Thick heel, anti-static, Oil resistant rubber.. Good Basic protection, i can say.
                That's my two cents.. :-)
                enjoy your ride!

                  Hi all
I am looking for a reasonable priced saddle and tank bag for Suzuki Inazuma. I'm planning for my first trip on Inazuma to Ooty from Bangalore with my better half. So, the saddle bag should be such that it should not create much problem in pillion sitting.
Please let me know where can I find in Bangalore.
Also, is it advisable to change the stock head bulb?

                  TIA

for tank bag i would suggest Rynox optimus S tankbag [http://www.rynoxgears.com/index.php/...-tankbag.html] [ i have ordered the same and i have used and own the rynox saddle bag which is good vfm]. If you use saddle bag, pillion will definitely face the problem unless its a pannier. Better go for tail box or similar product []zeus motorcycle gear.

                    Cheers

But still Can anyone give me a comparision between DSG Primal & Rynox Kombat. Which one is more better in terms of quality ?
As far as I know Primal is Full gauntlet, which is a plus point.
However when I saw the quality of leather Primal & softer & thinner Leather in the palm side whereas Kombat seemed pretty thick & tougher.
                      So I'm really confused.

                            Dsg primal... Worst experience ever.
It's been just 3 days since I bought a pair. And there are stitches gone in three spots... Didn't expect this from a glove worth 3 grand....

Hi guys, after conducting long research, I have finally decided to go for the DSG Triton Jacket. I tried an M size at one shop and seemed to fit well. But today, I tried an L size at another shop (because the 1st shop didn't have an L size) and that seemed to have almost the same fit ,except that it felt a bit wide at the waist, which I guess can be corrected by adjusting the waist, but I forgot to do that, rest all fitted fine! :P
Both M and L sizes seemed similar, however I felt that the sleeves of the M size were a little longer than that of the L size.
My shirt size is 38-39. Any Triton owners please recommend which size do I buy!
