Not sure how much your budget is set for the knee guards, if it is close to 5k , then the best option is hike the budget by 1k more and get a decent pair of riding pants. You will thank yourself someday when you fall down(hope that day doesn't come at all).

I don't have money left to buy the riding pants . So for knee protection I am thinking of buying knee guards. After a year or so, I will eventually be buying the riding pants so I don't want to splurge on the knee guards right now. My budget is 3.5k max. Can someone please tell me which will be the best knee guards to buy in this range?

I am not sure how much protection will the Spartan Perseus knee pads provide. Should I go for the Thor Quadrant knee guards or the Alpinestars Vapor Knee Protectors ? Or any other knee-guards? Kindly suggest.

3.5k , there are many cheap knock off stuff you get named "Fox", "Thor" be advised as they are no where near the original in quality, and they usually cost less than 1k.

Now if you go for spartan , you will get a knee guard for within the budget you mentioned, it can be worn inside pants, they have no plastic molding , but armor is stitched in fabric, which is really nice, but it tends to drop down when walking, riding it stays put.

Then comes the original Thor and a* knee guards, they come above 4k is what i remember, if you are ready to go beyond 4 or 5 , then i repeat, look for riding pants.

Cheers

Hi krish2778. Thanks a lot for replying to the query. I am confused if the Spartan Perseus a good buy for Rs.2575 ? As it is fabric, will it provide any sort of protection ?

Also Spartan's website mentions here that Thor quadrant are priced at Rs. 3699 which fits by budget too. Should I buy these ? (and since its the official website so its guaranteed to be original, right?)

The fabric is not the part that protects you, it is essentially a pouch in which the armor (knox) is placed and you are wearing that like wearing a sock, so it holds it in place, the only problem with this model is that, when you walk it starts sliding down your leg, which is very annoying, but before riding you adjust it and hop on and it stays put, it doesn't move around, thus it does it job when on the bike.

I was not aware SPG had made Thor available at a reduced price, yes if you are getting from SPG, then rest assured it should be Genuine, so now it's your call, look into both and decide which you feel more comfy in.

What are your thoughts on the Alpinestars Vapor Knee Protectors? Planetsg.com mentions here they are available for Rs.3499.

Between Spartan Perseus, Thor Quadrant and A* Vapour, which one would you recommend ?

Also one more query please. I am unable to find Thor Quadrant and A* Vapour here in Bangalore. I tried Let's Gear up and Biking Spirits but they stock just the Perseus. Do you know any other shop in Bangalore where I can find the Thor and A*?

Well, its hard to choose, SPG has Knox armor, rest is Thor & A* , which are both really famous and great brands, so the one which provides more shin length protection should be the one you should choose, that i think Thor is the one which satisfies that requirement.

As far as shops in Bangalore is concerned, the 2 shops you mentioned are the only ones i know for SPG and Thor, since it is knee guards, not much risk of being damaged in transit, i guess you can order it from Chennai.
For A* , try out Orion motors , which is opposite to Forum Mall, Koramangala. They are official dealers of A* products and you can check out the product in detail.

Hey!

I'm looking g for a pair of gloves that can be used on a daily basis. I'm surely not in for spending all the cash that I have...but I can do with about 2.5k

I want something that can come off easily, it if I want to remove it, and should be comfortable.

What are my options?

I recently brought Icarus jacket size small... and I would like to have thermal liner with the jacket...
But the spartan pro gear guy said they don't have stock of size s... And told to wait for a month... Or otherwise have size m which will fit with jacket..

I am looking for a riding pant for a "short & stout" fit. I tried the cramster ones and found that the knee protection was falling much below my knee. Any brand (within 7K-8K) where the height of the knee protectors can be raised?
I currently use Thor knee guards.

How is after-sale support from Orion motors? Read somewhere that a customer had an issue with refund/replacement. I was bit apprehensive to opt for alpinestars for this reason. Also alpinestars customer care people take their sweet time to respond to mails. Hence I decided to go for Dainese.

My suggestion: Dainese knee V.. It should protect both knee and shin also comfortable... they stay in place unlike other knee guards I checked.. Its certified to EN1621-1:2012... But it costs 5.5K.. Available in Dainese Bangalore store.. But riding pants > knee pads anyday..

+1 ... But as someone in the above link commented 'Any gear is better than no gear' .. I am sure this will be the opinion of any person who had a crash (add me to that list ) .. Had I wore some gear that day, I would have prevented or atleast reduced all the pain and recovery I had undergo for weeks.. Here's another example.. http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/universa...read-1089.html

If you can afford it go for the CE certified/approved gear.. they are NOT CHEAP and these products' capabilities/performance in tests are explained in a detailed documentation. Also people who are investing in big names should check the performance/rating of the products in detail before buying..

Speaking of documentation, Did anyone who brought a SPG product get one? Atleast I didnt ..
