Brother if it is water proof it definitely is going to be hot. Mesh jackets are also hot in summers. God forbid if you ride in a non mesh jacket in summers. I have done it for one season and it's almost torture. Check what feels good and fits your budget.

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Hi Guys,
I have a Wilson's leather Lamb skin jacket. I use it a lot for riding. It is pretty cool in terms of looks and doesn't microwave me inside during moderate temperatures.
Is it possible just to get the pads so that i can fit them inside the jacket. I can do the tailoring job myself. I just wanted to understand if i can get just the pads by themselves and how much would they cost.
They should be sturdy, thin (without needing too much alteration to the jacket) and provide moderate protection. My riding style is very linear and vertical :-)
Thanks in advance for your valuable inputs.

Yes, most armor parts are readily available individually. You should contact authorized dealers of various riding gear manufacturer, they generally keep upgradable armor parts. CheersOriginally posted by Naveen Vajja View PostHi Guys,

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Hey!Originally posted by somenath1061 View PostI have also narrowed down my search to a few Riding jackets. Some of them are mesh, but the bold ones are textile jackets or at least 70-100% waterproof ones based on reviews. This might help
1. Alpinestars T-GP R Air Jacket (mesh Jacket) 16 k
(Only rain liner for moderate rains as claimed by Alpinestar)
2. Alpinestars Alux Waterproof Jacket (Textile jacket) 17.5K
(100% waterproof claimed, also contains a cold liner, typically 3.5 season riding i.e. till 0 deg C)
3. Spartan Hyperion (Mesh jacket) 11 k
(Only rain liner, but with perforated leather at impact areas and KNOX lev 1 armor at shoulder, arm and back)
4. Rynox tornado pro (Mesh jacket) 7 k
(All weather liner, KNOX lev 1 armor at shoulder and arm)
Not so sure about
5. ADVBreed Riding Jackets 7.3-8 k (based on stock and the company mood )
(It has an external rain liner so the jacket will never soak and weigh a ton. Secondly it has SAS-Tech Level 2 Armour in back, elbow and shoulder: something to look at. Downside: Only available online and in Bangalore)
6. Zeus all terrain jacket (Textile Jacket) 7.2k
(Sports basic lev 1 armor and is a full textile jacket, but I have seen one or two good reviews, all season riding with capacity to work in extreme cold (-20 deg C Claimed using a thermal pack) )
Not considering JoeRocket and Rev IT: Because of widespread Zipper problems faced
Scorpion and Cortech Jackets not widely available here
DSG jackets: Not so nice reviews
Zeus Zeus all terrain jacket: review says its too hot for Mumbai climate and it is not really waterproof either
I know it is a mixed bag with Alpinestars at the top. We have to consider that Alpinestars charge a lot based as brand value and EU making charges. Indian jackets will be cheaper under any condition based on making charges. Alpinestars Bio armor is at par with KNOX armour that Spartan and Rynox provide and is up-gradable too.
A flexible armor is better rated than the nonflexible ones which can transfer a lot of force through while a flexible armor dessipates it by deforming. A flexible armor is reusable compared to a hard solid armor.
Hope it helps. Let me know which one you have chosen.
Since you were keen towards water-proofing the Hyperion would not be a good choice as it has leather but then it is often difficult to maintain leather in rains. But yes the Knox armors are a good thing about this jacket.
The Zeus all terrain jacket: Since it is a tex jacket it would have certain level of water resistance than any Mesh jacket. But you can be sure of being fried inside it and the air vents will certainly not be enough for ventilation. Plus I have heard its not all that water proof.
Rynox Tornado Pro- Is again a Mesh jacket but it does come with a rain proof liner with a twin zip mechanism on the inner side which adds to the resisting the water from seeping in. I have been using the Tornado Pro myself and have served me well in rains also. Have tried it under moderate rain conditions though. Plus the jacket is decently priced at 7k with Knox armors which are again a very big advantage incase of a fall. Also another good part about it is that it has Du Pont Cordura at impact points which ensure more abrassion resistance.
I am vouching for the Rynox Tornado Pro as I have been using it and am much happy with it.
Hope this helps

Hey Ajay ,Originally posted by Ajay Vishwanath View Postanybody here heard/use the Figo brand of boots?? heard they are from the UK, but no website, nothing.. any info will be great..
I had the figo riding boots ... its comfortable and protection wise also they are good also water proof. Its looks good also . It comes around 7k. I used it for few rides. In one of the long ride to Kudremukh the toe protector came off on one side out of the screw with which it is attached to the boot. I tried unscrewing it and re-doing the stuff but wasnt sucessfull. The screw was jammed inside and applying more force would have resulted tampering the boot. So i replced it with alphinestart smx 6. I am yet to go on a ride with smx 6.
Hope this helps.
Adding a few pics of the same
In the first pic, the right boot you can see the toe protector came off from one side ..
Thanks

Guys, Any suggestions of boots under Rs 2000. Can't really afford a riding boot at this moment. so need a better alternative to my Sneakers. High Ankle & Water resistant/Proof will be useful.
