Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
So I finally ordered few riding gear from Amazon.
1. ZEUS Airdrift SP-X M ( Cost me 9.2k including shipping )
2. Pro-X Knee/Shin and Elbow Guards with Stainless Steel protectors (1400~)
3. Saddlebag GODS 50L (3k)
4. Robot tech charger (600rs)
5. 3M chain lube
Got the knee/elbow protector today. For 1300rs they seem vfm, specifically because of the metal protection instead of plastic.
I already have a SteelBird Air full face helmet which cost me 2k approx.
And a pair of Pro Bikers el cheapo gloves.
Thinking of buying a new pair of gloves, helmet and boots.
But having these thoughts in mind, that I don't at high speed. I barely do 70-75kmph on my Avenger 220.
Should I reconsider my thoughts on the helmet and gloves? And I usually wear the Woodland heaviest shoes while riding, so buying a protective boot is really worth over it?
I am looking at things from touring perspective. Like 300-500kms over few days.Bajaj Avenger Street 220 - (Delhi)

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Congrats.. Do post a review of the goodies specially the Airdrift jacket. And for the boots thing, I think its a better option to have, it will save your ankle from twisting. Even with a minor fall if the bike lands on your ankle it will hurt no matter how strong your woodlands are.Originally posted by Richardson's View PostSo I finally ordered few riding gear from Amazon.

When you ordered jacket why the elbow guards? (Just curious)
Now let me tell you, steel no steel doesnt guarantee "better" protection, what if this brands steel is poorly stitched and goes inside the skin?
Now have you checked the size of the jacket beforehand? As the position of elbow and shoulder guards is utmost important.
Now coming to second part of your post.
You dont ride more than 70-75kmph of speed but what about others, can anyone guarantee that others are cautious?
I had almost fatal accident a month back where my helmet saved me when my head hit the Car's A pillar and then when I fell, it hit the pavement, the helmet took the impact, and in my personal opinion I would any day prefer better safety standards than what we have here.
No doubt AIR is very good helmet, and it will do its job very well but those gloves and shoes, change them, I was wearing probiker instead of my TRG2 and now I have one full month of plastered hand and other hand with dislocated finger.
Shoes, woodland offers some what protection till ankle, what about the bones above the ankle?
Think about these points and then decide what you need to spend on.Fare thee well xBhp, All the best for being the biggest name in corporate world

Can somebody guide me to a jacket suitable for Women ?
So far i have searched and got hold of 2 jackets :
1. Aspida aphrodite
2. Aspida Venus
My budget is near about 8K, Knox armour welcomed.
Since i was able to find only 2 jackets for my better half, I am contemplating on buying another rynox tornado pro (I myself have this one)

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Hello All,
Since I have completed a significant amount of kms and various seasons on my riding boot, I thought so of writing a small review on them.
Before jumping straight away to the boots section, a little insight on my riding gear and the upgrades I did with time.
Back in 2012, I brought a pulsar 220F on my own and the josh of having 21 HP under my legs was very tempting, I was not new to riding, but graduating from splendor and gen 1 pulsar 150, this 220F was quite a machine for me. I never gave importance to riding gear until the inevitable happened. I had a fairly big crash with me riding and my cousin brother as a pillion. Both were needless to say, without any riding gear not even a helmet. The crash could have been fatal, but I guess the flying angels were looking upon me that day and I escaped with 2 minor stitches on my head. After the crash I brought the helmet and Scoyco gloves and initial few weeks I was not at all liking the added things on my body, surely they provided me some safety but there is always a first time. I spent a healthy 2 years with basic protection with my woodland shoes, gloves and helmet.
Then I graduated to CBR250R along with my riding style and that meant upgrading to proper riding gear. I brought scoyco Knee and elbow protectors and a thick jacket from woodland and the same brand shoes. they served me well for around 18-20 months and then the itch began, because the elbow armours were very irritating and the need to have a proper jacket arrived. I looked for various options and read review of jackets and my eyes got stuck to this rynox tornado pro jacket. Brought this jacket to accompany my a MT blade helmet and Alpinestar SP8 gloves (touring only) and DSG primal(city use), it had the bells and whistles for me small to medium sized touring. Since I already brought 2 bikes in quick succession, the money spent on my riding gear did not go very well at my home with eyebrows being raised and getting mistaken for doing street racing. I am sure everybody might have faced the similar situation.
The only thing left was proper riding shoes, I searched for many options but all of them were costly to me and I couldn't afford it. Few more days of search and I came across this Armstrong protecto shoes, the shoes had the below feature
"Steel Toe, Tongue and Ankle Padding and Puncture Proof & Slip Resistant Sole"
Still, getting thoughts of not buying it and going for a proper hardcore touring boots offered by other chaps. I dropped the plan and started saving for proper touring boot. And one day as a surprise I got this boots as a gift from my better half
Since then I have completed around 30K kms on it and never ever felt of upgrading further. Be it any season the shoes are sturdy, it can handle low rainfall, it behaved nicely in winters the only problem I had was in Summer, if you are on the move then it was fine, but during stop and go, my feet were getting baked, not oven baked but it feels hot inside.
The comfort level is just superb, sufficient padding wherever it is needed. the only major problem with the shoes is Egress as they are big boots, you need to loosen up all the lace. These shoes works with any type of bottoms. I wear it every time when I am on my bike. Formals. casuals and cargos all gelup with the shoes.
At half the price, the shoes are as good as riding shoes and much much better than Woodland shoes in many aspects. To find the correct size you need to go 1 size down than your regular shoe size, atleast for me it worked. I wear US 10 size sandals and formal shoes, but the same Size 10 of these shoes were a bit bigger so I had to agree to size 9 which was a bit tight fit in the initial days and now it is snug fit after heavy usage.
These shoes are same as Orazo riding boots atleast by the looks and feature orazo riding boot provides. Armstrong protecto boots does not have shin protection, but that can be eliminated with proper Knee guards. and they are good value for money product and fall in the price range which many people can afford.
I will upload the pics by tomorrow, you can visit the official website http://www.armstrongproducts.co.in/footwear/53-amstrong-protecto.html and you buy them online as well from Amazon or flipkart.
If anybody else is using these shoes as Riding shoes, please feel free to pour in further information, which I might have missed.
PS: Not promoting these shoes and the manufacturer/seller. Genuine review posted.
Cheers,
Sanjay

Re: New Riding Pants
Hi Vipul,Originally posted by vipul87 View PostHi,
I am looking for riding pants. I already own riding jacket, gloves, etc. I am planning to complete my riding gear by adding a pair of pants in it.
I have gone through a lot of sites like
cramster
planetdsg
spartanprogear
zeusmotorcyclegear
and other websites
I am not able to pick some decent pants within a budget. I am looking for a pant with CE approved knee and hip protection. My main usage is for touring, so it would be nice if it's an all weather pants.
So Here are the questions.
1. For protection is riding jeans worth buying as compared to riding pants?
2. Can someone please suggest any riding pants and/or give reviews about the pants you are using?
Thanks for the help.
As far as motorcycle riding pant is concerned, most important thing is to get the right comfort product. I buy Rev'it! Airwave Pants from High Note Performance couple of months ago. It works great for me. It came with protection of knox flexiform CE protection at knees and seesmart CE-level 1 protection at hip.
Find much more options from here

Hope it helps.Nikesh Sharma

You should consider the Advento Pants by Rynox. In terms of features, they are way ahead of all the options out there. While other come with normal foam like material on hips and small knee armours, Rynox comes with CE certified KNOX armours at hip and knee armours that protect your elbow and the shin. You can also adjust the knee armours after you wear the pants which is a blessing ! They are currently sold at 7450 at 3-4 outlets in mumbai

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
I have the Rynox Advento pants. As you said its good in terms of armours and fit to the body but it has less ventilation than Aspida pants. If buyer living in hot cities like Chennai then ventilation is big factor to consider but manageable 🙂Originally posted by madNS View PostYou should consider the Advento Pants by Rynox. Purchased new ankle length boots, alpinestars smx-1r vented boots, purchased it from bikeopedia Hyderabad. Good thing was they delivered it to Raipur next day. It costed ₹14,500/-.
