  • Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread

    Hi,

I am planning to convert one of my jeans into a riding pants. As in i want to add some knee guards, may be some padding on the rear and sides. Has anyone ever done it ?

Tried searching the DIY forum and didnt come across anything.

Any guidance is much appreciated. This is like a fun DIY i wanna try.

    Cheers,

For all those people who said Kross Jacket came with CE rated armour, here is what the seller wrote on Amazon (https://www.amazon.in/Kross-Armoured...=kross+jackets)

If anyone near/in Mumbai knows any shop that stocks external bluetooth systems, plz let me know...
Inbuilt, I doubt there are any, part from old LS2 which went off the shelves long back.
If you dont want intercom, Chopra, Karol Bagh sells the unit for 2000-2500INR. Intercom one will cost you almost 4k per unit.

Not sure if this is possible dude. Also even if you manage to do it adding padding and knee guards doesnt convert normal jeans to riding jeans.

If you are looking for riding jeans take a look at the Zeus riding jeans and the Bikerini ones (much better D3O armor).

These features from riding jeans are what makes them suitable for riding:

10.5 oz heavy denim - for abrasion resistance...your normal jeans wont last for more than 2-3 s on contact with the tarmac.

220 GSM lining made with DuPont™ Kevlar® fiber on the knee and hips which are the main impact points. - this i guess is almost impossible for someone to get their hands on but this increases their abrasion resistance to more than 5-6 s (not much diff as such on paper but if you go down and it saves you from road rash then you would appreciate it).

Flexiform CE EN-1621 protectors on the hip and knees(D3O in case of the bikerini ones amazing armors these). - these are not that comfortable initially but once you get used to it they wont be noticed. These will be better integrated into the pants.....only way you could top them is if you have a personal tailor to make the armor pockets for you who is willing to take the effort to make the alignment perfect.

Also their stitching as such seems more reinforced than most run of the mill jeans.

Since they do cost more than normal jeans (though not much more than a pair of levis..after all the levis don't come with armors and Kevlar lining) just see if you can get your hands on these.

You could go to the manufacturers website and see if the shop is an authorized dealer.

Yes they r authorised dealers for BB but found quality not as appealing as seen online, thus the doubt.

Could you share the link of the product.

                As a general statement:

Delhi is a terrible market for riding gear manufacturers. Most of what is sold in Delhi is fake or substandard goods. And new riders eventually end up buying the rubbish on offer because they don't know any better. The riding gear i have seen some people use might be better than nothing of course, but it is terrible quality and i wonder what protection it will actually offer.

Tread carefully when you are buying in Delhi!
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

You can try Rynox stealth evo. It's pretty useful if you tour a lot. Tbg also makes a wonderful jacket at that price.

Revit sand by royal Enfield. Check that out.
I use soyoco MC10. I like it very much. Got it for 800 from eBay.
Common consensus is that soyoco products in Indian market is mostly fake. The one I got may be fake, but it is comfortable and usable in summer time. Protection may be an issue for most but they are made more like motocross gloves and the tactile feedback is good.

Yes i have also seen them. However, since my budget is a bit more than their price i guess i can get better gloves than them. Though they are quite decent.

Thank you for your suggestion. I have already used scoyco in the past so want to try different brand like Rynox, Cramster etc.

I narrowed my research to Rynox Rampage Pro gloves and Cramster Flux. Any suggestions about them ?

Rynox rampage I know is liked by many. Not sure about Cramster. You should definitely try them on before buying so check the feel for yourself.
