Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
It is hard to predict the state of a gloves/jacket after it has taken a crash. As a lot depends on the way you fall, speed, surface and much more. Glad that it saved your hand than what it would have had been if not for the gloves.Originally posted by Koogly007 View PostThats Gnarly!! The girl said, 'NO!'

Suggest my first riding jacket. Budget around 7K
I want to buy a riding jacket with a bughet of 7K for my Gixxer SF. Someone suggested scimitar jacket which cost around Rs.5500 but I'm more inclined towards BBG ladakh jacket or Rynox tornado pro. Thanks in advance.

Secondly folks who would like to purchase their gears elsewhere, apart from India (US of A or UK or elsewhere) please read this post before you post questions in the forum.
Mods please add Biking Brotherhood Gears to the above list. They seem to have a decent collection of gears, I recently bought their Ladakh jacket, will review it after I use it for some time.

I just bought it. Its CE Level 1.Originally posted by Anand1983 View Posti have gone through BBG website. They mention their armors as latest CE rated. Any idea what type of armor they offer? Level 1 or 2? sastec or knox?
I will give you my first impressions in case that helps in your decision.
It seems a decent jacket but its heavy like an Aspida jacket (Helios I think). On a long ride of 12+ hours I really suspect that the weight will become very bothersome. Considering my riding days usually are 12+ hours and I tend to walk to the places of interest with the jacket on, it can become a deal breaker for me.
Secondly its all black, in summers that's going to be problematic. I wonder why so many jackets are all black, its such a poor choice for most of riding conditions in India. Anyway, I bought it for use in while riding in colder weather so its going to be fine with me I guess.
I intend to buy the CE level -2 back protector from Aspida website and use it with this jacket as well as the Cramster Breezer 2 (bought in 2009) that I will use for summer riding.
A good thing with this jacket is the fluorescent yellow external rain liner. It will certainly aid in visibility during rains. External rain liner is much better because while riding you get intermittent rains rather than a continuous downpour so you can always take it off or at least unzip it when it stops raining.
The winter liner is the same quality as I have seen in jackets from other brands, which means it is thin and flimsy and doesn't look like it will be all that effective in real cold. Taking in on or off is a chore anyway, but for mild cold I guess it will suffice. But its certainly not a highlight for a jacket named Ladakh.
The shoulder and elbow armours seem good and the jacket is constructed using 6000D polyester, so it should offer decent abrasion resistance. There is no happiness for him who does not travel!
