Again, I would stay on my point that SMK / MT / SOL / LS2 are all great lids, and completely bashing other lids just for a SHARP rating is wrong.
All these shells have passed ECE and have the same credibility.
Never bashed other lids. Just said Mugello is VFM based on SHARP and yes I will opt for a lid thats SHARP rated v/s one that is not. A close second would be LS2 FF352. SMK Twister IS cheaper than Mugello but I wouldnt recommend it over the Mugello. And I do love all the other brands mentioned above, dont get me wrong but its all about VFM here.
I would say SMK is the most VFM based on the features and someone else would say it's the SOL based on something else.
Also, the other helmets didn't go under a SHARP test, not that they fail it.
I would pick any of SMK / MT / ZEUS / SOL / LS2 depending on the genuineness, the fitting to my head (most important imo - a good fitting helmet will save you more often than not in the event of a crash), and the shape of shell (spheres, ovals, intermediate ovals and what not).
I won't base my helmet choice on a SHARP parameter. I don't trust them much anyways, and there are many like me that won't.
What I have found is - In under 5k lids, Zeus has the best fit, finish and padding quality, SOL being the second on padding quality.
MT is average on that front, LS2 is as good as MT or SOL. Somewhere in between.
SMK is okay-ish, but gets a pinlock 30 visor by default, helps a lot in the rains and winters. For others you may have to buy the pinlock and/or the visor that supports it depending on the model.
Cheers mate !

Are you talking about the Taiwanese Zeus? Its not available in India is it?

I quite agree with you here. Sharp Rating can be considered while making a choice but it cannot be the deal breaker for me. The fit of the helmet, padding, warranty, spares matter to me the most.
As you said, other branded helmets have not been tested as of now, if they are tested for all we know even they may pass the test.
SMK imo is a good helmet given the pinlock 30 feature, but the padding is not at par with SOL, MT or Zeus.
I am not sure of this, but what I understand is about the application to get a SHARP rating is that a seller/brand/brand's distributor should be selling that particular brand in UK. For example, MT helmets are sold in the UK through a distributor and the distributor can apply for a SHARP rating of the helmet and of course, getting a SHARP rating costs, so a brand would rather do it if the brand is having a good scope in the UK market. A consumer can also request for a helmet to be tested for SHARP on their website, but then the brand must be available/distributed in the UK. However other brands like, say SMK, is not being sold in the UK market and thus they have not applied for it and also it becomes quite irrelevant for the brand to go for a SHARP rating as the UK is not an important market for the brand. But as you rightly said, if an SMK or SOL was tested for SHARP, for all that we know even that would get a 4-5 rating.
MT Helmet seems to be doing some serious business in the UK and thus have seen to get a lot of their helmets rated by SHARP, which either MT or Spartan Progear (Their India distributor) is smartly leveraging in the Indian market as many consumers in India are not aware of what it actually is.

Not sure if it's the right place, but can someone suggest better, rather cheaper, alternatives to Sena / Scala Bluetooth headsets? They cost a bomb
I am using BT S2 from gear best (INR 2000 when I bought) for past 1.5 years. Now let me help you with some pros and cons of this S2
Its very clear and works well with bluetooth. Even in pairing and intercom mode ,on straight higways at speed of 70-80kmph it was clear till 500-600metres.
The negative is, you cant pair more than one another S2 with this. I tried doing it, but it never works.
If you are group of people who ride together invest in Vnetphone V8 and ask everyone to buy the same, you all can have conference intercom in that. NO other BT headset provides that feature in that price range.
Gearbest can send the equipment in10-20days. I got it in 10days though
Fare thee well xBhp, All the best for being the biggest name in corporate world
