Oh, thank you for letting me know about newly launched S30. Just checked them, might finally settle for that.

I really dig the the grey colour version of the Solace Coolpro v2 but it is always out of stock.

Looks like riding pants are way better option that just knee guards for just a bit more extra cash.

    Thank you for clarifying members.

    Cheers!

Airwave is slightly better than Eclipse. Although Eclipse is a tad bit lighter.
Rev'it is a very reliable brand. Go for it.

Had been pondering over the need for a back protector for some time because i had to remove the foam protector on my rynox jacket due to it shredding off. After a thorough search on the internet, I was reluctant to go for an insert because of the lack of coverage in the lower back area. The budget was around 12 k and was about to zero in on alpinestars Nucleon KR CELL protector on Planetdsg which retailed for 10500/-,but was hesitant, because it was a level 1 protector, non adjustable and sites like fcmoto, motoin etc were selling the same product much cheaper. The protector was also meant to last for a long time.
Fortunately, one day, fcmoto had put the Alpinestars Nucleon KR-1(level 2) for sale at a discount of 39%. It had good coverage and the reveiws were good too. After going through xbhp and tbhp, based on the experience and valuable advice of the guys who posted on those sites, it turned out that even if the customs did put a duty of 50% on the product, it would be cheaper than buying from here.
In the end, took the plunge on Nucleon KR-1 from FC-Moto.
The price of the back protector was ₹12796/- , which was dropped to ₹7819/- after discount. Shipping amounted to ₹ 2191. The customs duty I had to pay was ₹3496/-.(Total-13506/-).
I had ordered the protector on July 01 and it was shipped the next day . I recieved it on July 28.
The packing was a cardboard box and it was squished to pulp, but the product was undamaged.no wear or tear. It was put in a ziplock which I guess comes from the manufacturer itself.People who order things like helmets have to consider this before buying.
The protector is light, airy and feels comfortable for the short duration i wore it.
Regarding size,I have a height of 171 cm and had ordered a size medium which covers the back till tail bone (guess the reason for not providing tail bone protection is that tail bone protector sells as a separate insert for most protectors including this one)

                  Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a good jacket within a 10K budget, give or take 1K. I have taken a look at the Rynox Storm Evo and the Zeus Airdrift SP-X. I'm leaning more towards the Zeus, unless a I find a good, strong reason to move towards the Rynox. Can you guys share your experience(s) and/or opinion(s)?

Also, I'm open to looking at alternatives within the range mentioned. CE L2 protectors are a must, and so is a rain-liner. I won't be using it within the city as much as I will for the highway (but I am not looking at a full-fledged touring jacket either).

Thanks in advance for your help, guys!

Cannot comment on Rynox storm evo particularly but can definitely tell you about the Rynox's product quality. I have Rynox tornado pro jacket which I bought somewhere around November 2016.. it's been 3.5 years of use in all weather conditions and the jacket still holds good. Though in summers it gets really sweaty but if your are moving at speeds above 40kmph then you can feel the wind passing through the jacket.

Also had one crash while wearing jacket where I scratched from side waist and right hand between elbow and wrist area but the jacket is still intact and definitely saved me from few scratches..I believe it'll last for another 3-4 years with the moderate use I have..

                    Hope this helps..!!

Would recommend the Rynox. Have used to for a very long time.

The Storm comes with Knox Level 2 protector (T+ T-) certified. 5 years replacement warranty on the Knox protectors in the Rynox jackets. Back protector is Level 2 - Powertector (again a very good back protector). It’s one of the most soft and supple back protectors imo.

Chest pocket with chest pads (upgradable to Level 1)

It’s has Cordura at impact zones. Cordura has higher abrasion resistance as compared to regular polyester-Nylon.

Even the thermal layer is made from one of the most well known fibre- Sorona by DuPont and one of the most expensive one too. Most brands if you see turn a blind eye towards the details of fabric and material to cut cost.

In terms of the fit and finish, Rynox Is top notch and can be compared to the some of the international brands out there. Not sure but I think they also sell in the western markets so that would require them to maintain the quality to remain competitive.

                          Hope this helps.

                            Hey Riders!

I recently got my first biking jacket 2 days back- The Solace Sabre!

I was going through this thread and even though there seemed to be a very good discount on the Furious, I went ahead with the Sabre as it suited my current requirements.

I have 2 basic questions here, regarding Solace jackets -

                            1) What's the main difference between the Sabre, Rival Urban and the Furious? What really is a touring jacket?
                            2) The Sabre comes with Safetec inserts, can i change these to Sastec at some point?

                            Thanks!

Congratulations on your new gear. Here is the short answer.

                              1. Protector sizing and branding. Rival has slightly smaller protectors than Sabre. Furious has very large protectors and a proper CE protector on chest, while Sabre comes with foam pads which you can upgrade.

A touring jacket is one that can handle all or 3 weather and is built for comfort and is long in length for added protection. It also has more pockets for stashing stuff.

                              2. Ideally you can't as the protector sizes differ. Practically, there is no need to change them. Safetech is really good and you can trust it.

Out of your choices, go with Storm evo. Reason - known and better protectors. Safety is the utmost reason for buying a riding jacket. I have no idea of what brand of protectors Zeus uses, so I would avoid it.

Also, please buy the Cerros chest protector insert while you are at it. The jacket comes with foam pad as stock and the Cerros is CE, direct fit.

                              Goodluck.

Essentially its the size of the jacket and protector and in the case of the Tourer the ability to convert a jacket into a rucksack essentially :P

and yes, I will be upgrading the chest foam to a CE protector soon.
