what i am looking for is mainly a waterproof jacket with or without armour.

i have finalized on 2 models



thats the DSG nero


and

the DSG maze..

but could not find any info if they were water proof.

both are water resistant...they are not water proof.

also both the jackets are well armored. If your looking for without protection then you may check out NIKE/ADIDAS jackets...quite nice for touring as well as for city riding...
Also give preference to those jackets which have a air outflow at the back of these windcheaters.

If a jacket has ventilation, it will not be waterproof. More the ventilation, more prone to getting wet. Even if the jacket has vents that can be closed by zips, water will seep in through the zips.

I would advise you to go a mesh jacket ala DSG Maze/Cramster Breezer (not sure of the product name). Mesh jackets are the best when it comes to ventilation, and will give zilch protection from rain. For rain you can put a raincoat on top of your jacket to save you from rain.

Get a mesh jacket or be ready to sweat like a pig!

Come to think of it, how much do you actually ride in the rain?

If you want THE waterproof jackets for city use, buy none other than Duckback. I have one for 2 years, even bought one each for my wife and a friend last year. All jackets going absolutely strong. It is the only brand on which the shopwala gave warranty on being waterproof. I have tested it on numerous occasions as well.

You can buy a size larger than usual, and put up on your bike jacket to maket it waterproof.

No jacket has inbuilt amor protection for back.it is just a foam padding for support and rigidity.

in product description is tantamount to grossly misleading customers no ?

the same Astar gloves are available in delhi for rs.1700.....
there is a vast difference in prices in DSG and delhi shop...as these are the replicas..and believe you me that it looks dittooo same to same.

A question for guys not using riding boots: how do you protect ur shoes in the rain/mud?

pretty much use an all season footwear then. Woodland for example is damn good for biking in harsh weather.

^^ +1, Woodland are great but some Woodland soles have a tendency to skid!!

^^ Thanks Joey n Saif. Never used them till now, relying on my Adidas sneakers. Doesn't water seep in at all in Woodlands? Once it does get in, the soggy feeling is very irritating.

PS: I saw an old TV series where a guy puts on some leather/rubber over his shoes, that look like shoes themselves, before going out in rain.

u can replace the foam with armor protection in DSG Maze

actually i invariably end up riding in the rain..

and most importantly.. LOVE IT.!

thanks man.. but i did get to have a look at them from the yamaha showroom opp forum. they had the MAZE but not the NERO..
