If its the normal knee guards, it can be weared inside the pants. If its bionic , its asked to wear over the pants.. There is a common notion that bionic means the knee guards which are weared outside. But actually bionic means, those protectors which follow the movement of the limb. Thats its a two piece protector, one for the knee cap and another for the shin(not fully though) ,both being connected by a pivot joint, giving some degree of relative movement as you bend the knee. If its non bionic, its a single piece one. I have a cramster which one of our fellow Xbhpian helped me in getting it. I feel its pretty good for 1.5 k.
note: bionics will scratch the tank for sure.

you get 2 designs of guards. one that can be worn inside the shirt and pant and 1 that can be worn above. Alpinestarts bionic is an example of kneeguards that can be worn above the pants. If you are wearing riding pants, then the kneeguards would be integrated inside the pants itself.

Nope. Depends on riders riding position and shape of the tanks of the respective bikes.

nope. Its merely depends upon the rider position. with bionics, you can never hug the tank. If some one doesn't hug the tank, then its not going to be a problem..

Yup, absolutely correct, you actually don't require elbow guards when the jacket has a pair built in, which most riding jackets do.

However, one could go in for elbow guards as well, to protect the jacket in the event of a fall. I saw one guy do this. he had removed the built in guards and put on explicit elbow guards.

            • I use the older model of Cramster bionic elbow&knee guards. Elbow has to be worn outside due to the mesh lining inside. Knee I wear inside, since it is too huge&sure to scuff the tank. Not an issue if you are wearing slightly loose pants. The design issue has been sorted out in the new model though.
I use these only for short rides& for longer rides I prefer the jacket&pants which have CE approved hard armor protectors built in at the back, shoulder, elbows&knees&hip respectively. I know its duplication, but I feel comfy this way. After a while protectors start hurting my skin.
But I have seen most of the people getting a good armored jacket&knee guards to be worn on the outside. This would be a good combo too.

              • First, bionic/non-bionic donesn't have anything to do with being worn over the pants, under them, or for the matter, without them. Bionic guards are meant to follow the movement of the joints rather than hindering them. The kneeguards surely do hinder you from prperly gripping the tank, since they cover the upper part which shields the kneecap from damage.

I am using a AlpineStar bionic kneeguard along with a AlpineStar T-Exile jacket and AFK gloves. While the protection feels uncomfortable, I can cruise at high speeds without the wind hitting the upper body and taking a toll. I rode wearing the gear in 43 degrees of sun, and it actually protected my from getting burnt skin. Ventilation is great once you are on the go, but God forbid if you need to stop and lug around all those extra kilos.

                • Suppose government made it mandatory to wear knee guards like helmets. You think some people might dig up old cricket guards ?

In some case if the tank is bulky the guard will surely touch the tank. I say it again, the riding position in few bikes are such that the guard will not touch the tank. But yes, if the guard touches the tank continuously it will create scratches.

                        • Recently got the R15. So decided to have some nice gloves( NOT pricey though )

Got alpinestar SMX-2 AC glove from a shop in delhi. Costed me 1.2k. I cudn't realize. He told me it was taken out from customs.

                          Pros:
+The cost offcourse was one of the pros!!
+The gloves are really very well ventilated. Even in this scorching heat of Delhi, hands remain cool.
+Most of the material is textile so no problems in rain too. I had them in quite a heavy rain and no smell or deteroitation.
+Gives a really nice grip to the hand.

                          Cons:
-Sometimes they become quite tight from the area near the thumb so when u take them out it's like all that area is absolute read!!

Had got tankpad from DSG for R15 blue too. If someone wants I can put the pics with a review on it

Sorry to spoil your fun man, but from the pic it certainly looks like a product of karol bagh. These same replicas are available at karol bagh shops for the same amount. These are not the original ones, its a complete ditto copyof A* which are in market these days.
for a price of 1.2K you could have got a better deal deal and that too originals(Cramster gloves and sigma gloves from KRP)
