Iam planning to buy some Gear next month. A good sturdy Jacket and good full gauntlet Gloves. I already have a full face AGV helmet and AXO knee & elbow guards. I visited planetdsg and zeroed in on a few.
    Gloves:
    1. DSG Ark: This looks pretty normal to me. The protection seems fine. I used this for pretty good time. It was good. But i had severe knuckle pain. The fit was fine and i got totally used to it in just about 20kms of riding. Looks better than Vector to me. While riding in rain, water did seep in.
    2. DSG Vector: There is no difference between this and Ark when it comes to the features. Personally i feel like puking looking at the color. But visually the protection seems to be the highest in this one. I maybe wrong.
    3. DSG Primal: This looks the coolest among the three. I liked the model. It has carbon-fibre knuckle protection and some other features which Ark and Vector lack. But it is priced lesser than those two. Anyone knows why? . But it has air vents. Incase i ride in rain, will lot of water go in and make it really disgusting to ride? I hate getting wet. Is it better than Ark or Vecor?
I dont like the vector. So i might go for either Ark or Primal. Any disadvantages if i use without any air vents? Which is the most durable among these?

    Jacket:
    1. DSG Maze: Looks quite good from behind. From the front none looks appealing to me. If iam not wrong this doesnt have any air vents. Will it be really difficult to manage without air vents? Does it get so hot and sultry? Pardon my ignorance but i havent ever used a riding jacket before. What about the protection? Is it better than the other two? Looking at the features it does sound better than the other two. It is priced more than them. What is main reason for this? Is this jacket fully waterproof? I wouldnt be happy if water seeps in. Black color looks better than the red one to me.
    2. DSG Nero: I dont find this so appealing to me. It has air vents. Is it really a good thing to have air vents? It has only one color black. What about the protection? Is it different from Maze or the same? The website says it is made of 600 Denier Cordura fabric. What is it and is it really good? Is it better than Maze overall?
    3. DSG Spike: I dont find any difference between this and Nero except the air vents and pockets. Nero has more air vents and Spike has less. Personally i dint like either of the designs much but frankly speaking Nero looks better. Spike has red and yellow color which i dont like. There is no difference in the protection either and they both cost the same.
I need something which is very durable and can provide me very good protection and yet is waterproof. I hate riding when i get drenched in rain. I also want it to provide me good protection from cool winds during chilling climates. Perhaps i may ride to Leh-Ladakh one day.

My budget is limited to exactly 8.5k. I know there are much better products in the market but this is all i can spend for now. Since i would be making the purchase during the last week of of next month, i have plenty of time and iam very much open to more suggestions. As of now i havent checked out any other brands. I want to make this a one time purchase. Kindly understand that i cant afford to buy one set for long rides and one set for city rides in my present phase of life. I dont mind using the same for city rides as well even if it isnt so comfortable.

Kindly provide me with detailed explanation for the support of your suggestions and views.

    Cheers,
    Rahul
I bought the DSG Nero and the DSG Primal gloves. Just to answer your question on DSG Primal, the quality is amazing, the fit and finish are also spot-on. However, water will enter the gloves during rain through those holes. This is not meant to be a set of wet weather gloves. It is good for touring in dry weather but for me at least, my palms sweat during long rides and the inner part of the gloves become slippery and i hate that. I would still recommend these gloves to anyone who asked me, simply because I find them very durable and as you mentioned, they look the coolest. They are perfect for day-to-day city riding and the dual velcro fit is very snug.

You would want to check out cramster's TRG2 gloves. They look identical to DSG Primal and they provide very good fit too. Very similar material in construction and I own a pair of these too.

Now, coming to the DSG Nero jacket.. I own a black p220 and the reason i chose Nero was because I just wanted a matching plain-jane, all-black jacket with NO jazzy patterns on it. Quite hard it was to find a model with my needs but narrowed it down to the Nero since the only 'patterns' on this one are the 3M Scotchlite reflectors around the chest and spine.

Comfortwise, fit is perfect, armour is not very obtrusive but it gets a bit stuffy in warm weather. There is a removable inner waterproof lining for rainy days.

And as you mention, the DSG Maze looks good from behind. It looks like it isn't made form the same material uniformly. When I went to buy this, even I didn't like it from front.. the black leather strips on the shoulder appear like they have been cut from somewhere else and pasted there to repair a torn portion or something In my opinion, the Spike jackets are good if you have a matching bike color to complement. But again, that is just my opinion and some may want to have a yellow and black Spike jacket to ride their Red bike!

I started feeling a little stuffy with the DSG nero for my 30km home-office rides in peak traffic in the daytime. I got myself another jacket from Cramster- its a mesh jacket called Breezer. This one is amazingly comfortable during hot daytime rides / touring. Problem is it is NOT waterproof

    So I now use these-

for dry weather - Cramster Breezer jacket + DSG Primal
OR Cramster Breezer jacket + Cramster TRG2

for wet weather - DSG Nero jacket + Cramster Dewrex (waterproof gloves)

I have to do a little bit of mix and match with those products for comfort's sake but its worth it

Personally, with your budget I would settle for DSG Nero + DSG Primal gloves. It would just about be enough

P.S - you could take a look at the cramster page they have good products too. Would be glad to know if my post helped you

            DSG Primal is better buy...

Check out Cramster Pulse/ Raptor ...
DSG Maze isnt waterproof , Spike resists water pouring in but upto certain extent only... and I feel Nero is old stock (Personal Opinion)...

Or you can wait , DSG hv said they'll be launching new 2010 Jackets , or maybe they have launched it this week... Confirm by calling thm ...

                • Went to the ProBiker showroom on MG road yesterday. The guy was very helpful. I told him I was a xbhp member and he was like, dude, buy the best from here. He was kind of scared and happy at the same time.

You must check out the showroom though, he has a nice assortment of stuff right from basic riding gloves (branded/unbranded), helmets almost from every manufacturer you can imagine. Good riding jackets and stuff.

Bought a pair of basic winter gloves (Knighthood) for 250 bucks. (Actually wanted to buy the ProBikers, but had a doctors appointment right next door, and the doctor has told me NOT to ride for some time ) Didnt want to spend much and wanted to satisfy myself at the same time so bought the gloves.
They are very comfortable, nice grip (actually they slipped a little bit, but then with one ride (not listening to the doctor ) they became good enough!

                  Pics later.

Sorry if I sound rude, but its not rocket science exactly, is it ? Just find ways to get it covered. Longer gloves, longer sleeves. You can try wrist band that tennis players normally uses. They're available in most sports shops.

I guess you will be ruling out DSG Maze/Cramster Breezer since they are mesh jackets, hence not waterproof.
I like mesh jackets coz its very hot&humid here, I don't ride much in the rain anyways.
Tell me something, do you intend to wear full gear to college everyday? That would be really hot&sweaty man, even with a mesh jacket!
I would be wearing them mostly whenever i go out. I dont mind if its hot and humid. But i dont ride in the afternoon sun and stop and go traffic. I would take only the gloves to the college.

I came to know that Maze is not waterproof and i dont like Spike. The only option for me is Nero. I checked out the Cramster jackets. They look very dull. As i said i cannot have two sets. One for dry weather and one for wet weather.
Coming to the gloves. I have decided to either take Cramster TRG2 or DSG Primal. And Jackets Iam thinking of Nero. Will check out cramster once again.
Anyhow i would wait for the 2010 collection.

Thanks dude. Will check out 2010 stocks.

he has a lot of gloves. Starting from 350 (non probiker) to something like a 1000 bucks. I think if i remember correctly the full size ones were 850.

Go to the shop and remember to tell him you are an Xbhpian. I bought just 4-5 days ago. You can quote me Motorcyclist...
