Pants have a water-proof liner & w/o removing the liner you CANNOT wear them in summer, even in a climate controlled environment. Which means they do the job in freezing winters.

I wanted to get the Alter Ego as it appeared cooler, but functionality wise Ballistic rocks.

I would say, money well spent.
Amen! I have the Super Streets myself - superb boots. Already 'tested' them twice - both times, I thanked Mr.Rocket for the boots!

I wanted well ventilated gear, so got myself the JR Meteor. Was unsure about the pants though, so was waiting to get more info. From your feedback I guess the Alter Ego is a no-no for me.

I'm thinking the JR Phoenix Pants now. Any views?

Oh! And do try out the Moto-air gloves as a replacement for your gloves. Again super stuff.

Has too much ventilation and no protection in the butt area.
Mesh has its negative side in scorching sun, when your body's air is radiated outside.

May be nothing as of now and it will again be top of the line.(will tear away my pocket for green bucks)

        • @vikram,

cheap and quality doesn't go hand in hand..

I have probikers Elbow+Knee guard for 750 rs. they do the job for normal bike touring.. and find them ok enoug..

others you will get costly.. and will have better quality..

I would suggest.. go for prbikers one if they are comfortable to wear and still for 750 Rs. for both..
and later on save enough for good quality ones

            Thanks dude...
            They are still for 750.
I really like these cause they are small and easy to carry in a college bag after use but im not really sure about the quality.
Im leaving them for last resort.
Looking for a few more options.
            Thanks for your review.

I currently use ProBiker gloves, & find them of decent quality.
Can I see these knee guards somewhere on the net, or if you can post a pic of these?

              • Guys, how good is Cramster's riding pants? Has anyone got good experience in the recent times? I'm asking from both crash perspective as well as lasting long on everyday use; would it last enough for about 2-3 years on daily usage?

Guys n_aditya, Nikhil, Neil Jericho, Sunnysideup, before throwing daggers at me, pls read this - http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/510128-post.html

PS - I fairly understood that one also needs to be lucky enough to buy things in this country; having deep pockets isn't sufficient!!!

I've been using the Cramster pants on rides, and found them decent enough. Though I feel they would make your legs very sweaty if worn on a daily basis, due to the mesh inside.

Boss, I have a Cramster Velocity riding pants. I have neither crash-tested it, nor do I use it everyday, but I'm sure it will come out with flying colours.
Its got removable CE knee protectors, soft foam padding at the hips, elastic tougher material at the back and elastic n velcro waist. The current version Velocity 2 seems to have a removable thermal liner like the cramster jackets... I've used it by itself, and over jeans. Pretty comfy either way. Only drawback if you are wearing jeans underneath, taking a leak will be a tad more time consuming.. . Zippered and velcro adjustment at the ankle it can be easily worn inside or outside a riding boots. There are two zippered side pockets too. Its reasonably water repellent, but not entirely water-proof. At its price of <5k i feel its VFM.

EDIT: +1 to what Sarvajit said. And when folded its still bulky enough due to which I never wear it to office (and thereby no daily use)...

Isn't that removable? I think they're water proof too isn't it?

But I'm really worried on how long it would last; I bought M size gloves in Feb 2010 & its torn but still in usable state now (which is like 6 months of usage). I don't want to land up in similar situation & that's the reason I'm asking an opinion here.

Good to see your comments @Lijo

This is exactly my expectation & the Alpinestars also has the same feature

And it should be removable right? Which should avoid the sweats isn't it?

Yap; that's the only advantage of Cramster

                      I've no issues on that

I've an option to wait for another month+ to get an Alpinestars riding pants. Should I wait or grab the Cramster now? I'm more of a long term perspective guy & don't mind the cost for now. Pls suggest.

bro, like said earlier, i dont have anything against cramster personally. I'm looking for knee guards and given the feedback i will give them a try.

All my frustration was on the poor quality of the jacket that i bought, not cramster in its entirety. If i was better informed then I would have bought something better like an armored vest.

I would advise you to wait it out (its not too long anyway) and get the A* pants itself. Better VFM anyday.

I too keep hearing that Cramster's knee guards are good VFM

I myself experienced the worst with Cramster on its gloves, if you want I can post the links & pics to you. In less than 6 months of time, the gloves tore away.

Hmmm...not sure if Pune DSG would bring in by then & their responses are like stone in well!!! Anyway, Mr.Sabu from Kochi is very responsive enough, guess I'll make a sale through Kochi instead of Pune. Pathetic Pune People from DSG!!!

                          • @argee - IMO we are better off with a textile jacket/pants as long as we dont hit the tracks often. Leather can get messy with our climate. Its raining or too hot all the time. But yeah, A* textile gear will be of better quality. I've never used one, so cant vouch of it. Again, thinking of both will need replacement in the event of a crash, I'm ready to stick with Cramster.
                            These are just my opinion...

And yes, the Velocity 2's inner liner is removable, just like the jacket liners... as per its description on their site.
