There were no extra charges by google( & shipping was free ). Google checkout will credit my HDFC card in US currency only. HDFC may levy some currency conversion charge(not sure). This transaction hasnt shown in my CC yet. But i did receive a SMS which said that the amount was XXXX(this was direct conversion of the amount into INR). Dont know if HDFC will levy charges in the future.

Using Paypal is definitely safer than using a credit card for an online purchase. If the seller defaults then the buyer can raise a dispute and after investigation (IIRC max of 45 days) the amount is credited back to the buyer.

        This holds good for:

        1. Item described as new but the item that was shipped was used (or shipped item did not match the description of the item being sold)

        2. Damaged product being shipped

        3. Lost in shipping

There might be more cases. Read up on the Paypal Buyer Protection terms and conditions for more info.

When you create a Paypal account you need to specify a US address. If you have an Indian Address (billing address) updated you can't buy something abroad and have it shipped locally (within an international location).

My paypal account has a US address and is linked to my credit card. Have shopped online and got it shipped within the US without hassles.... and my credit card is an indian card with international validity/acceptance.

Even i did it with HDFC CC...conversion charges of Rs. 50 and would convert $ at the exchange rate going in the market.
          its all about CC...

            • Anybody using Sidi Vertigo rain boots?

Appreciate if you could share a brief review of the same...thanks! I'm specifically looking for reviews on ventillation (since these will have another layer between feet and the material) and sizing.

I have shipped it to my friend's address in US. And shipping in US was free for orders above 89$. These are the charges :
                    Total billed amount - 186.92 $
GOOGLE *MC Superstore google.com 8485.53 Dr
EDU CESS - MARKUP FEE 0.89 Dr
SERVICE TAX - MARKUP FEE 29.69 Dr
FCY CONVERSION MARKUP FEE 296.99 Dr

So there was a service tax and conversion markup fee levied by HDFC.

                      • Has anyone made any purchases at www.extremesupply.com ?

I was looking to order a pair of boots from them, but have seen some negative reviews about their service, & stock availability (though most of the complaints date back to 2009).

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

If there is complaints regarding their service, it should be enough reason to avoid IMO.

On a seperate note, how is the service with ICCWorld? as I would like to order a jacket and some gloves, aswell as some other bits and pieces for my work.

                          Cheers,

                              • HELP: Purchase Advise needed.

                                Hi guys,

In an accident last year, I had my right arm fractured. So, I was looking at some serious protection to save myself on the road.

But I never purchased anything related to gears, except 4-5 helmets. So, please suggest me what do I purchase...

                                1) CE Armor Jacket: I want a jacket with the following purchase expectation:

Protection: I want it to be extremely durable and protective. Protection from bruises is ok, but it should avoid fractures and serious injuries..

Please tell me one which includes the shoulder and elbow armors, and also if they are removable or not.

Breath-ability: Can be average. My main priority is injury protection.

Color: Any acceptable color. Any brand (A*, DSG) provided its good quality.

Budget: Under 6000 INR (Negotiable to some extent)

Life: It should last minimum 2 years. Any Warranty/ Guarantee appreciated.

Usage: General Road usage upto maybe 150 kmph maximum. No racing.

                                2) Trousers/ Jeans:

Should be durable enough to protect from bruises/ scratches. Protection is a priority.

Should be wearable everyday, and look like normal casual jeans. Wanted only for general road usage. Any color. Budget around 3-4000.

I don't know if DSG provides any such jeans/ trousers, but still...

                                3) Gloves:

Protection is a priority, but they shouldn't be too funky looking or heavy. Budget around 1000.
