All hit and miss buddy with regards to importing, if the value is below a certain amount ( I think 10k and marked as a gift) not too much problem, above that without an IEC, you can get 100%+ penalty fine, sux hey?
Too much BS and beaurocracy, but people still vote for the same BC's, some things may never change.

Looks so confusing . BTW if we depreiciate the value and and then import , as its mainly for our personal use that should not be an issue right

No offence to anyone but if you are still wondering if you need riding gear then read this...



Its not only important to gear up, its also important to wear good quality riding gear.

If you dont have the money, save up and buy quality riding gear. Its an investment and a worthy one.... one that'll save your skin !!!

Gear up for a crash and if you do crash (God forbid) you'll most probably escape with minor injuries.

P.S. Quality does come for a price. There is no such thing as a free lunch. So if you think a thin jacket or windcheater or a cheap glove will save you, think again.

I had a small doubt, does importing riding gears from US attract any custom duties. ?I am planning to order gears worth some 10k appx

IIRC it attracts a custom duty and tax of approx 15-20%. Not sure of the figure though. Check this out - https://www.borderlinx.com/m/total-cost-calculator

Now at the topic of riding gear, I'm interested in buying a racing suit, looking forward to the noida track opening and subsequantly visiting it for trackdays.

I guess the cheapest one will be from cramster at 30k which is a bit costly, any other alternatives for the same?

I checked bikebandt, ridersdiscount and either the suits aren't in my size or aren't in my price range. (Price range meaning as cheap as possible )

Any advice guys?

Also, when comparing a 2 piece suit to a 1 piece suit, which one should I prefer? I guess the 2 piece suit would be a bit more convenient as the legs and the torso would be separate, am I wrong in presuming that?

hey.. i saw the first one @ A H helmets.. dont remember the second one.. The price he told me was Rs.75 but u can bargain.. i think 50 is ok.

Two-piece is more convenient. If you intend to track your bike, invest in leathers.

Keep an eye for closeout deals and you will surely find something within your budget.

For 30k i am sure you can get a 2 piece leather suit on a closeout deal.

Check with @Killer Instinct for details. He just picked up a 2piece A* suit.

Wouldn't count on it, it all depends on the mood of the customs officer, devaluing can cause more problems, even with an IEC and official invoice, they decide the value and duty is also calculated on top of shipping charges, try contacting ICCworld, they may help, though I had mailed them twice with no response, I think you need to use a credit card with them (which I don't have)

The Shop A H helmets is located near Andheri (between Jogeshwari and Andheri). On the link road.. just a bit ahead of the Audi showroom.. And the shop owner's no. is 9930382462. There is also a shop in kandivali but i dont know the address.. will get n pm if possible.
U can also contact Satyen bro and others from Mumbai for more shops. BTW if you dont mind going far, you can go to Grant Road as well.. Its the wholesale market for all spare parts as well as accessories. And its nearby the station.(Paradise for me as there'z electronics and computer market close too..)
