Guys i am planning to buy a GMax helmet and an Icon jacket from RD. The total is costing around 12k. Guys who have ordered before can pls tell how much duty is liable coz i am still a bit confused after reading all the posts.

Have a unique situation and hope you guys can help me out. My Dainese riding pants are towards the loser side on the thighs but make for a perfect fit on the waist. I need to alter the thigh portion. Anybody you recommend in Bangalore who has the necessary experience?

FYI, they are cowhide leathers.

@ Neil - The RD question was already answered a few posts back. They do not ship as gifts any more. My gear was custom from the manufacturer, so it came with proper invoices and hence the duty.

The point I'm trying to make is that you need to be prepared for duty - depending on the Customs official who checks your package. Sometimes you will get off easy and sometimes, you'll get scr##ed.

I am still waiting for my consignment to arrive from RD, it was shipped on 23 june.

Lets see if i am lucky to escape the customs or not.

You will normally get a call from the concerned courier company. If it's via mail, they will collect from you after clearance.

@vkuchhal : There is no comfirmed way of checking whether its stuck at customs because i ordered my AGV K3 Helmet from RD too . They said they can only track the parcel up till when it was delivered to India . I ordered on 7th May , they dispatched it on 12th May but the helmet got stolen in customs . RD got back to me in the end of June saying that my package cannot be reclaimed . They did offer me a full refund or the option to have it sent via USPS with a tracking number . Now i'm waiting for my helmet to come . Its been a week now .

Planet DSG, my friend!

I just wanted to share my positive feedback regarding the transaction I had with Planet DSG.

In preparation for my Leh ride coming up next month, I ordered 4 items from Planet DSG online - T-RC-1 jacket, AST-1 pants, RC back protector and Bionic chest pads. I'd left a note in the order form to inform me of any unavailability.

Later that day I got the order confirmation mail. Then followed a mail with the details of the stock availability. DSG informed me that the jacket of my color and size were available, informed me that the RC back protector was being replaced with the Bionic Back protector, that the chest pad was currently out of stock and expected by later this month, and an inquiry regarding the pant size, wrt my waist size.
In my reply, I gave my waist size, and inquired if there will be any price difference b/n the RC back and Bionic back protector. I got a reply a few minutes later, advising to opt for the pants of next size to suit my waist size, and information regarding the price difference.
Now I had a doubt if the Bionic back protector will fit the T-RC-1 which I asked in my reply. Again, immediately I got a reply mail with a pdf file with the bionic back protector pic and specifications. I thanked them and confirmed the replacement.

All this while, I felt like I was exchanging mails with a friend. Last friday I got the status update that the items were shipped with an expected delivery of today, 19 jul. And lo, today I have it with me - I went and picked it up from the courier office.

I'm happy to say that Planet DSG has turned out to be the best online dealer I've ever transacted with. I give them a full five star rating.

I'd agree to that strongly Lijo. That was the same case when I ordered DSG Revive gloves. Good people to do business.

Though I'm yet to buy anything from Bachoo motors, their approach is excellent & gives me a confidence that they do a clean, good & customer friendly business.

yes, I too did and inquiry with Bachoo motors regarding the H2O boots and they gave me proper updates in a short duration. They informed me that the size I want has gone out of stock and now H2O is being replaced by Highway, of which they have received stock for all sizes. I'm sure they would also be pleasant to transact with.

And now they give me some more news ! They tell me now that the Manufacturer called them and told them that they don't produce my helmet in that style and size anymore . I think its incompetence . I'm losing it . Just gonna go find some other seller who ships to India . I hope mine is just a rare occurrence and doesn't happen to anyone else .
