The Samsung monitor you got..its a 20 incher right? So it most probably would be the S2033?
If so, are you able to play games on it on the monitor's native resolution that is 1600x900? Do the games display the resolution in the graphics settings or do they still show the standard display settings like 1680x1050 or 1280x1024? And does it cause stretching in the image?

its 20inch Samsung SyncMaster 2043..GTA4 shows max resolution as 1600x900.and the images do not stretch.and NFS Prostreet shows max res as 1440x900 and there is no visible stretching.

You could get a decent quad for around 8k. The AMD X4 9650 is around 6.5k.

If you are an intel fan
q6600 : 9000rs
q8200 : 8800rs (approx)

amds are also good and cheaper

Both are good , a rough comparison is like this ->

x4 -> quad core -> Phenom II x4 -> i7 , and the prices are also in this same order.

Phenom 2 x4 are the most overclockable processors here (dont know abt i7) and I guess the most VFM too.

1. MSI was a tempting option. But then I came across many feedbacks where people said that the fan speed is locked at 100% so it does get noisy. So out it went from my list.

Hahahahaha dude i have this msi 4850 OC edition it use to idle @18C but now its in the range of 25C even during summer it hardly crossed 60c even after playing for hours on end and the fan speed was @70% no noise here mate.

Thats why I did say I dont know abt i7 , since it was out of my stretched budget too , didn't read anything on it
