That's true. Unlike the PSU oil companies, Shell effects change in prices vis a vis global crude oil prices at the pump more rapidly than the PSU companies. With the current trend, the gap is set to come down as the PSU companies don't seem to be willing to reduce their prices."Tough times never last, but tough people do." - Robert Schuller

Where are the company owned pumps in Bangalore???
Can someone please list out the company owned pumps in Bangalore??
I'm yet to find one and I find that the smoothness and mileage have gone down drastically after I came to bangalore. I've only filled from normal fuel pumps. Mileage has come down to 31kmpl on my ZMA (normal riding), whereas when I filled from company owned HP pump from Chennai I had got 34-37 kmpl consistently (34 when ridden hard).
I last filled from a BP pump near Diary circle and found the mileage has actually gone up to 33 kmpl. Considering Bangy traffic, thats good.Ride Safe. Respect others on the road.

Chennai fuel giving more mileage than Bangalore fuel huh
Praful will tell you about a secret pump in Bangalore giving super mileage. Just PM him
As for the company owned company operated, I've tried a few which don't really make any difference. And considering one even tried to cheat me with the pump reading, I don't trust them any more than the normal pumps.
I've been sticking to Shell despite the high price. I haven't stopped eating veggies despite the high prices nowadays, and I wouldn't want to subject my bike to potentially bad fuel because of the lower price."Tough times never last, but tough people do." - Robert Schuller

Yeah you're right man.. it doesn't seem to be accurate info.
And all Tier-1 cities in India sell 91 octane itself as normal. This has been the case since 2006 I think."Tough times never last, but tough people do." - Robert Schuller

well... i was a lil confused too, I'm no expert on fuels... prolly, little more googling might help.Originally posted by sumit.pannalall View PostIf we go by this then no one should use normal petrol which is 87 octane. I think most of the bikes have compression ratio more than 8 (Correct me if I am wrong).
I believe max a 9.1CR can take is 96 Octane.Last edited by shark80; 10-08-2008, 04:21 PM.

this was the case in past when ioc used to sell 91octane as a normal one but it was a loss for the company as govt guide line says you can sell 89octane as a normal one .Originally posted by rossiter View PostYeah you're right man.. it doesn't seem to be accurate info.
