Thank you for the feedback. i know its slow. i just dont wanna regret after buying the bike !! regret creeps up if you get bored or the bike doesnt satisfy you anymore.. you always feel something is missing. i never rode the R15 but i rode the P220. i dint feel at home in it. YES ITS FAST. but after riding the fz it kinda sucked overall. touring is about relishing every aspect of your bike not just speed but @ 80kmph my fz is very boring to me now.. longer distances take ever more longer to cover.. i find differentiating a bike based on a second difference in speed timing pointless.. they are after all seconds. gone. puff. but i want max top speed my money can buy and a 3kmph less speed i can live with !Originally posted by happybiking View PostAbour fun factor in R15 compared to 220...Well, depends how you define fun. If its outright acceleration you are talking about then NO, R15 is slower than 220 ... The level of engineering that it carries is light-years ahead of what a 220 comes with(hence the price difference
)
i rode the classic.. but i'm scared what if it falls on me and i'm not able to take it off !!Originally posted by Karthik Mathur (Orange) View PostHave you ever tried the classic 500?it's easy
otherwise P220 rocks!it has everything

i'm 5"11. i'm broad but bony hence the weight lolOriginally posted by Nitin_traveller View Post"cant handle them am just 60kilos ! lol"
get an R15. period..
if weight and height is small, Indian super bikes(Exaggerating a little):
R15 - sports
Avi 220 - cruiser
Am serious.
I wish I could loose some 30KG
do they give R15 for test rides?? not interested in tour specific bikes.. need to navigate city traffic too.
I wish could GAIN 30kgs lol

yea bro !! atlast !! lol i love the bike.. but getting impatient @ its tiring climb from 80kmph onwards. i'm still pretty much the same size lolOriginally posted by satan69in View Posthi mate..guess you are finally tired of fz huh??
are you still the same size or a little bigger??
i would suggest you r15 dude..its fun and its light and it suits you a lot.220 is a little heavy and trust me,it gives the jitters while cornering...maybe others can corner well on a 220 but the effort needed is more.
second i would suggest either a 220 or an avenger 220...the initial problems of avenger 180 and 200 are rectified in avenger 220..but if you dont like a cruiser then i guess r15 or 220 are the only options since you have decided against zma.ninja wont come down in any way...also there are speculations of a p250 by dussera...if you can wait till then it would be better...
for city, what do you think is best P220 or R15? people say R15 is not comfortable in the city. i rode my friends P220. its fast but am not convinced. its the fastest indian but not the best lol is the P250 a rumor or real? lol i will check the thread.. can wait for some time.. but if i wait too long then i wouldn't ride the bike for more than 2years cause i would be going for higher education.
cruisers outta question man. dont like them.
WHY WONT NINJA PRICE COME DOWN?
wouldn't it come down aft the ninja 600cc bike's launch? *fingers crossed*
munching miles is boring and tiresome on fz. i'm not a full fledged tourer like you.. i will be, come january, but till then i do small trips simply cause my fz can do max of 90kmph (cruise) which i find unsatisfactory. call me greedy lol over all its a great bike it definitely is.. like the below person said power is where it lacks. aft 80 the game is up and am getting really annoyed @ the gear ratio.. its a city bike no tourer. that day when i rode tarc's bullet.. i felt WOW !! i mean the power flow is flawless my bike is more like a bullock compared to the bullet lolOriginally posted by Ananth View PostSorry to say this, why are you looking to change the FZ? What do you think the 200+cc would have the FZ wont have?
Since you said you are a tourer where do you think a 200+ cc bike would help you over the FZ? Other than the small tank, I do not find anything wrong with your bike.
And again, have you tried using the bike to the extent YOU could possibly use it? where have you toured with the FZ in the last year? If you still want to change, buy my ZMR - I will give it for a good price
thanks for your offer but i'm not fan of hero honda.

well among the 180cc bikes i liked none since the R15 matched the specs i picked it instead of a 180.Originally posted by JAKRAP View PostWell from your question , guess you are in favor of including R-15 in your 200cc + category
.
dude we live in INDIA !! bad roads are most roads, smooth roads are some roads lol i love the ninja... but THE PRICE.. will it come down by any chance? any idea?Originally posted by JAKRAP View PostCould give an update on an RE and a Ninja, since I own both of them
RE is suitable for any kind of riding. THe new REs have almost nil problems and no oil leak that was part of the older ones. I personally own a RE350 Electra 5s and have done extensive touring on it in last two years. Approx 35000 kms. THere has been some problems like spark plugs and loose wires but nuthing which you cant sort out! Its an all terrrain bike but wont give you any rocket acceleration.
Ninja is suitable only for smooth tarmacs. Bumpy roads are a bit of pain and moderate off roading is possible. IT would give you the rocket acceleration you are looking for. YOu can cruise on highways at speeds of 140+ quite easily. On the R-15 and a P-220 you could cruise at triple digit speeds too. But both wont give you the sort of acceleration and speed like a Ninja! Ninja accelerates from 0-140 without effort and would do a top speed of around 170
So if you travel on smooth roads only and once in a while you do offroading you can go for any of the four (R15, P220, Ninja or RE). Then if you want good acceleration go for the NInja>R15/P220>RE in the order.
If you travel on bad roads+smooth roads all the time you can rule out both Ninja and R-15. The only choices you have is a P220 or RE. If you still want good acceleration then you should go for a P220.
So guess P220/RE arethe best options available for you (since you have ruled out ZMA in the first place)
can a person like me 5'11. 60kilos. bony. handle a bike like the bullet? what if it falls down? can i pick it up? lol the weight is what scares me. i have no doubt about its credentials.
is the R15 so bad on bad roads??
i read P220 also has a hard suspension setup how could it handle the bad roads better than the R15? on touring which bike would be better R15 or P220?
Regardless, Life shall go on.

Touring and city ride..
hey guys
on the basis of touring comfort and city comfort regarding the gearing and the suspension, how would you rank the P220 and R15? which is better? i will try to get my hands on a R15 to close this debate. till then.
i thank you all for your participation !
Regardless, Life shall go on.

The R15 can handle city riding pretty easily, believe me. The problem would be if you get stuck in bumper to bumper traffic or a km long traffic jam your left palm will be killing you with the pain of constantly pulling and letting go of the clutch.
The r15 has a longer turning radius, and hence can be a handfull while taking u turns in tight lanes.
Apart from that, the r15 is a gem of a machine, and since you are skinny and want something light + with top speed over 140 + less than 2lakhs, I'd say you have no other option apart from the r15. The 220 is also quite heavy at 150kgs. So take a test ride and decide for yourself.

its quite a headache in bumper to bumper traffic..but the overall outcome of an r15 is sheer bliss dude...it will be perfect for you.i dont think p220 will suit you or go well with you..r15 is light, quick, nimble, flickable and obviously better quality than bajaj parts.i also guess that you wont be having enough time to visit service centers frequently
new models are expected at dussera...just a few months time na..letz wait and see...but if none crops up,i would strongly suggest you the r15.only bummer is i can never experience the ride of it cause am too big and fat

...AM not sure whether the price would come down. There are second hand Ninjas available for your taking.
Are u telling me that India has bad roads all over..Come on open your eyes and look around..
Search for a guy called Tenhut and he does more than 200 on the Indian roads!!
I did a Pune to Kerala on my NInja and barely saw a bad road on the way!!(Pune>Blore>Mysore>Sultan Bathery>Kottayam <Coimbatore<Salem<Blore <Pune)
FYI when i bought the bull i was 5"9 and 63 kgs (guess the gain in weight (3kgs) is compensated by the loss in height (2")
) over you..Have fallen on the road a couple of times and had no problem in picking up the bike and driving away. (thankfully it didnt fall on me both times)..And neither had any problems in driving the bike all the way up from Pune to BHutan
BTW the NInja doesnt weigh too low either...Its wet weight is around 175 and a bullets wet weight is around 180 kgs!
R-15 is of a similar nature to Ninja (weighs considerably less thou
)..You can ask anyone who has changed their suspension set-up to suit bad roads, whether it works fine..

I'm a slow rider in city cause i'm a student.. cant waste money on fuel. i find fz's clutch painful. people say the weight of the body on the arm and not the bike itself which makes it uncomfortable.. am i right? taking a test ride is a problem.. none are giving it here !!Originally posted by Parth View PostThe R15 can handle city riding pretty easily, believe me. yes quality is a big issue.. i dont wanna be running to the service centre for every other thing but then performance is a another ball game. dude i find fz's clutch tough to handle in traffic.. feels too heavy to pull in.. i asked both local mechanic and service centre guys they both said the clutch is fine.. but my hand hurts.. any ideas?Originally posted by satan69in View Postfor city rides r15 is a little pain than the 220.but its good for you man, atleast you wont race in city na

i rode the P220.. it has a very light clutch and gearbox.. dint get a chance to ride the R15 yet.. dont get test rides here.. i think i will heed your advice and wait for the festival season. bajaj upgrading its bikes to 4valve seems like a reasonable guess if not a 30cc increase over 220. otherwise i need to ride the R15 to finish this deal.
haha.. i like you man !!Originally posted by JAKRAP View PostDude I also have the Ninja in India only

there are good road no doubt but interior or city roads arent always great. second hand ninja sounds good but how do i proceed? and what if that person ripped his bike and all.. not exactly a fan of 2nd hand.. i want a virgin !!
but a ninja sounds mouthwatering. even if ninja falls on me its fairing will protect me from the heat.. i mean you get it na.. if a bullet falls on you even if you can pick it up, the heat (if ur legs get stuck near the engine) will not allow you, all you can do is shout.. lol scary scene !! R15 doesnt have adjustable suspension bro. Pune to bhutan??
your god !! lol i so long to do rides like those.. the only problem money and cc !!
i guess my eyes are on the R15 now.. though only a test ride would help me decide. and also a second hand ninja(sounds mouth watering). thank you everyone for your valuable feedback. i plan to wait for the festival season. the speculation thread seems to hard to resist lol also get my hands on some second hand ninjas !!
Regardless, Life shall go on.

Because they both(3) can tour on good roads as well as bad, which the R15 can't and isn't meant to(bad roads that is)yea i read some touring comparos they always picked P220 or karizma or ZMA..Who says? can you be specific? lol i could have.. i thought i would get some ideas on the ninja too.. ZMA or karizma isnt the end of the world bro. besides the fact that i'm strongly against the brand.

probably. it was fine in the beginning. its only of-late. the svc cant understand my problem or cant figure out the problem or just dont care.
for your 2nd post.
i realised that bro. but i dont like HH and i dont want the quality issues of the pulsar. by "who" i refereed to the motorcycle magazines which conducted the test. both overdrive and bikeindia had conducted "best touring bike" test. the R15 came 2nd.
in overdrive it was P220 and in BI it was ZMA. or its reversed i dont remember. lol
i could TD R15 only on tarmac so no idea how it would behave on bad roads. R15 owners said it isnt back breaking but hands hurt after a while cause of the position. my friend has a P220f and it was pretty good too but i dont know if it was cause of his poor maintenance or bajaj service it had rattles everywhere, the gearbox was not positive, the handlebar seemed to be a bit off, just the overall quality was not exactly welcoming and his is just a year old. so i'm going for the R15. but my friend thejus (satan69) told me to wait for some new pulsar models. so in two minds. dont wanna regret later.Regardless, Life shall go on.

a year or two you wont regret buying an R15.The vast technology used in these
bike cannot be matched even if the bajaj releases an 250cc bike. so
still what are you thinkin about go a head and book a r15 then a rossi like feeling will start building up inside you. (as a complimentry)Last edited by TwistedSouL; 09-08-2010, 02:15 AM.sigpic
