Shankar bro, as clear as it is... ZMA is surely a gem of a tourer machine... but itz true that itz kinda outdated, but it has got the class which can even get the vote even after being a little outdated in terms or goodies and looks...

as far as RTR is concerned, i call it a RAW POWER... as it has the best acceleration in the category and the vibes even give me that power feeling... hehe... just a negativity i find in it is the f***ing TVS tyres...

see, as u've mentioned that u want a bike for touring as well as city riding, but still u have to choose one style or class. If you want a smooth ride which is more inclined towards touring, then go for ZMA-R, and if u want shooting acceleration and that Raw and aggressive power in ur ride, then go for RTR with ur eyes closed

P.S. i chose the Menace for me

Nail on head...! I feel even am more inclined towards the RTR now, considering the FE, VFM factor and an average (or more) look.... I just came to know that, I ll be travelling to US, next week, and I ll be back after 3 months... and I hope I ll be buying only after 3 months

Are there any new bikes waiting for lunch in the near future??

yeah, may be 200 or 200+ RTR is going to be launched after Diwali. Not sure, actually according to me, TVS has no plans for this around Diwali but a guy who is the showroom-cum-service centre owner (where i get my bike serviced) told me that he had a chit-chat about RTR200 with a TVS guy. its just a rumor according to me though

              I think
Apache RTR180- If you are a power junkie go for it.! It is well known for its power delivery.

Karizma ZMA-R- It is a proven bike for the Indian roads. The best touring bike you can get there. The only minus point is that it has become outdated.

Fazer- If city riding is your thing, this is the best handling bike.It feels planted on the road.Superb ride comfort. The only downside is power.

OT: Regarding the question about pillion comfort of Fazer, I almost always ride with a pillion and they have never complained about comfort.I have also been to trips outside the city and it does not compromise on comfort.

Also you mentioned that you could go upto 1L ,so, why dont you go for the R15. Best bang for your buck.

My max budget is 1L dude... even a single penny more than that will not be APPROVED () he he he... R15 comes around 1.1L here in chennai...
More over, I did not even think of R15, for no reasons...

among these three bikes i personally would put my money on ZMA-R..though in city condition an Apache will be great as well but while touring its no match to ZMA
Fazer don't have power delivery like other two bikes & also it give very low FE..so after u'll get over from its looks u'll start regretting your decision..

remember one thing "There is NO replacement for displacement "

Yeah... I've excluded Fazer from my list (yesterday itself) But still confused between ZMA and RTR.... RTR is good, but tyres are not upto the mark and when it comes to touring Karizma is always the best... But it is outdated and the FE is tooo less... (one of my friends was getting 30)

yeah ZMA-R will produce FE around 30-35km/l..& if its not manageable then get an A180 without any second thought

I had the same confusion when I upgraded my existing bike 3 months ago.I needed the touring features more badly then you because I had to take this bike to Ladakh. But I selected wisely for RTR180 and I still do not regret for my decision.
                        1)Good fuel efficiency.
2)Tubeless tyres (They are bad only on wet roads, for other they are "ok")Remember these tyres are not RTR160 tyres.
                        3)Good suspension.
4)TVS reliability-I vouch for it. I have a 8 year old Victor also..
                        5)Cheap spares.
                        6)Easy availability of spares.
                        and
7)Throttle response-This point settles the scores. What point owning a zma with 250cc if if doesnot give the throttle response and is a fuel guzzler.
8)Best bike for cornering except R15 which is way costlier.
I am not a ZMA basher but there are many points in RTR which you cant neglect. Most persons dont use the Touring capabilities of ZMA fully and so a RTR180 should suffice for your needs. I toured the whole of ladakh on my RTR180 and had no issues.

Cool... you know wat, I logged in now to say that I have finalised RTR180 keeping all the above said factors in my mind... But shocked to see some one with the same thinking
Why I chose RTR over ZMA is for
                            1. FE (RTR-40+, ZMA- max 35 to 38)
                            2. Looks- For me it is better than the outdated looks of ZMA. I admire the white menace next to fazer for it's look... And I like it's black clip-on too...
                            3. Acceleration

And I never worry abt Reliability of TVS, as I have been using my star city for more than 3 years without any problems....

What else do I need... Yes, I miss ZMA But keeping the above advantages, I hope I ll not regret my decision...

But I don't think it's the best in cornering next to R15???
