Though, not maintenance free, P220 is my call for your needs.

my call is P220.. on highways .. you tend to feel safe on heavier bike. It's a scary feeling to be on bike that is shaking whenever a heavy vehicle goes besides it.

Moreover, in real world scenario.. P220 scores well.. it's a lot more practical than R15. And if you are going to Joel it.. then there is no stopping it!!

All said and done.. I feel that there is going to be revamp of entire pulsar line-up this year.. including P135LS!! may be you can wait till April??!!

here is what I would have considered:

          1. R15 is high reviving bike. more fun on highway than in city roads.
          2. If pillion eye closed forget about R15. too small for two people.
          3. Pulsar selling is good staff. service center sucks. high maintanance.
          4. Long term.. sell P220 in max 2-3 years. If you are looking for long term and liking P220 heavy look.. go for that white ZMR.. their servicing is much better.. would not be killer performance.. but adequate comparing to P220.

          my perception:
          1.
single rider with average/small frame. Highway riding = R15
          city riding = NO R15

          2.
Long term and no budget constraint = white ZMR

          3.
Mind boggling fastest indian + budget constraint = P220

CBR is coming in April though.. 1.8Lakhs on road.. if have the moolah and waiting for 3 months, worth a dime..

          best of luck

            Yup.. agreed with vrugonnab.

But i would like you to look at it from this perspective as well. Your options of enhancing the R15's capabilities at various stages thanks to mod god JOEL in the later months will always make sure that you will never get bored of your ride.

Joel has also come up with performance exhaust for 220 but thats about it for the time being.

My personal recommendation will be R15 coz of its handling capabilities, engine reliability and the later mod options... i believe if you search through this thread, you will find enough people who have done long distance travel on R15 without any problem.

Plus the new upcoming R15 model will have a bigger fatter tyre compared to the previous one and will hopefully will take care of the primary complaint of the bike not looking good from the rear end if the spy pics are true.

Not that P220 is not a good machine... but in this case Yammy wins by a large margin.

            cheers

Well I still have mixed feelings over which bike, a second hand R15 has come up, from an owner who is mostly in Dubai, around 1 year old, showroom condition and he wants 95k for it, the price otr here is 107500, the bike has only done 1600k, seems a good deal to me and is 12500 less than the showroom for a bike that has just about been run in, seems like a good candidate for a stage 1 mod (big bore/ffe/ecu and air filter) going to check out the bike tomorrow evening, if it's as good as he says it is, then i'll take it.

                How does that sound?

                Cheers,

                Stefan

Well personally i would get a brand new R15,because its just 12.5k more from unknown 1year old,1.6k kms done bike. But do test drive it and force him to around Rs 90-92 k,and if you feel satisfied,go get it,its a great bike, even in stock conditions. Enjoy.

Bottom line here is no city riding as compared to the metro's, such as Bombai and Pune etc. ZMR don't really like it and no test drive vehicle available, no CBR at the mo, too much paise and the wife is expecting, currently I cover around 1200km's a month in a Safari which costs me around 5g's in diesel, this equates to a good slice from my profit margin, being a small business, mostly I will be ridding alone, occasionally I will need to carry a worker or two here and there and if the wife chills out a bit, will go for an occasional blast with her.

The purpose of this thread is to decise my choice via real world conditions, I am not a boy racer, I'm not a racer and not an Uncle, just want to enjoy whatever ride I choose for a long time, acceleration is important as is handling and stability, road conditions here in Goa are much different to the majority of the country, in a good way! These factors have made my decision more difficult, my neighbour has a P220(carb) for almost 2 years and has had absolutly no issues with the bike, his driveway has no oil leaks and he maintains the ride very well, it looks as if it is straight from the forecourt.

As you can see my choice is very difficult, but I do have a soft spot for the yammie, but the 220 will not escape my gaze at this point

                    Cheers,

                    Stefan

Please do not comment if you do not have the facts. I have got my bike moded from Joel and theres lot more than FFE. My bike will be moded again on 15th Feb to make it faster than the Ninja.

Also lets not talk about 220's reliability as i have 2 p220's Fi and the carb and both of them are doing exceptionally well after more than 3 years on the FI and 2 years on the carb.

Why i own 2 bikes of the same bike thats entirely my concern.

Still not convinced............Both have their attributes, hence I am asking about real world usage, with no real city riding, road conditions and useage have been stated earlier, I need long term ownership and feedback from riders with either bike and bear in mind whichever I end up with will not be kept stock (mechanicaly!) and will require emergancy treatment!

How about lighting of both the bikes? Just a question I had in mind. That reminds me, if you're going to settle for the R15 just wait a few months the new version is coming out and it looks like a beast. Fatter tyres, split seat and all.
I would rather be riding my bike thinking of God, than sitting in the temple thinking of my bike.

Nothing is confirmed from Yamaha, Bajaj is also probably going to release a 250cc variant, I don't have the time or patience, without concrete information, plus the Yammie mods will be no more than aesthetic anyways, upgrades will be possible on older rides probably. I'm ready to take a bike within 2 weeks from now, my 2 wheeler license should be here in a week or so, I need to sort this shortly, mostly because I'm spending around 5grand on diesel at the moment every 4 weeks, seems to be a waste at this time.

                                Cheers,
