My engine has taken quite a while to set in and for my riding style , i get 38 on the highways and arund 34-35 in the city .. So For the kind of performance the 220 is capable of belting out , its not bad. But thats just my perspective.
The rtr 180 is a great bike and the abs definitely lends it an edge !
It boils down to this :

    a really good , fast , comfortable and stable tourer - 220.
Not to mention that its lightning fast in a straight line !!
and i will not take any BS about reliability. The engine of the 220 , the gear box and all the main components are really reliable. Small niggles like fairing vibes and random crap like that dont make the bike "unreliable". Thre is a way around each and every small "problem" that the 220 has. But yes , there are small niggles , its the 220 way of life
Touring is a joy. The weight contributes to ROCK SOLID stability at high speeds. The headlight setup is just too amazing if focussed properly.

    a light , quick city bike - rtr 180
fast , 0-60 it can surely keep up with the 220.
Light to handle, better chassis and hence better handling during zig zag maneuvers through traffic.
180 cc , fi so obviously you can expect around 45 kmpl.
A really good looking bike - aggressive stance but it could be a little bigger looking.

Last but the most important bit - Go with your heart. Only if you LOVE your bike , will you be able to use it to its potential. At the end of the day , its the rider , not the ride.
Is RTR180 Fi? no.. and, for normal riding, surely mileage will be on the upper side of 40 and Really SANELY will give 45+.
Now, with ABS, 180 definitely holds the upper hand in safety perspective and it is definitely reliable if you service it properly every 3-4k kms with an oil change, etc. It is thoroughly fun to ride in the mountains and twisties than 220 which doesnt give so much confidence. The only thing i loved in 220 is the amazing torque with which it pulls and the taller gearing .

If you really want mileage don't for these machines. Go for any other bike which gives you one.

If you want pure riding pleasure and raw power then 220F it is. It will bring a smile on your face with a twist of throttle. I am sure you wont regret the decision. Its a complete VFM bike.

Please dont exaggerate things. I guess guys here have done SS, GQ and Leh trips on P220. If you have any case where a rider have faced a backache problem then please elaborate.

well done and any small niggles you face , dont hesitate to put it up on the 220 ownership thread .. Im sure one of us will help you out ..

And @ all , sorry about the "fi" thing in my post , i didnt realize the 180 was not fi ..

And to clarify a few things , the 220 is really comfortable for touring .. I myself have done a number of 500 kms day trips without the smallest hint of an ache or sore ..
Any bike will give you a backache if you are not used to it .. Just ride any bike for a week and our bums as well as backs get used to it ..
In the end , once you bond with your machine , nothing stops you from testing the bikes limit , no matter what bike ..

Congrats on your selection again and please try to use the 220 on the highway to realize its true character

Don't go and purchase so early because Bajaj is ready to launch new 220 with mono shock and new features in a few months...

The new lot of 220 with BYBRE brakes and all fixed up niggles is just perfect for everything. Why wait for future product as there is no speicific date of launch of new 220 with monoshock and may the new 'monoshock' may come up with unique niggles. After all its bajaj, they launch first and fix niggles later.

well said..going for current lot makes much sense as there isn't any concrete news for launch of new pulsars having monoshock,4-valve bla bla n don't know what else..plus last line summarize everything in it

That was the case with Bajaj.. but now a days all of their launches aren't coming with lot of niggles... but yeah, it will take some more time for Bajaj to come up with completely hassle-free bike.

+1, Looking at the latest launches like P135 I think they are moving up the leader on build quality thing.

But really P220fi was the 'P220 Fi Beta'

even P135 has lots of niggles with it..new owners felt few problems with it, though it'll be nice to see niggle free bikes from bajaj as they are good in performance but lacks reliability in comparison with its competitors..

Its not fair to judge Bajaj's reliability from P135 owners feedback, bike is 53k ex. showroom, targetted at first time riding a geared bike people, you can call it curiousity, they fiddle with idle RPM/AirFuelRatio screw for no reason, hence issues! People who buy 180CC+ bikes generally have more riding experience and ability to troubleshoot such niggles.

I don't think so.. I've used for 10 months before selling it. It's a very nice bike, atleast I didn't face any problems apart from weird noise from rear suspension. And that was common problem in earlier batch of P135's, which got fixed under warranty.

I ain't saying that bajaj isn't improving..P135 is a nice bike but my friend faced probs in digimeter along with gear box(he had to press 2-3 times to change a gear) in his week old bike & SVC guys din't even take that prob seriously but later on they had to change it..not only my friend but fellow XBHPians also faced these kind of niggles..I am just talking about these niggles..
