sam, renny I agree on the Rtr part. but have you guys ridden the Fz16 extensively to be sure that Rtr handles better than the Fz?

dude .. fatter tyre means less flickability ,, so just basic physics although a fail in that subject

^^^ no sam92. you are incorrect here buddy when u said that fatter tyre means less flickability in the case of FZ16!! I am sure that you dont know that fz16's radial rear tyre is 30% lighter on an average than the tyres on other indian bikes (according to yamaha website and i believe them)!!!. moreover, fz16 is lighter than RTR, isnt it? so i m sure that fz16 is atleast handles as good as rtr if not better, but rtr aint any better

What sam really meant was that putting a fatter tyre than what a bike is already designed for. Eg: the FZ16 has a 140/60 rear tyre, if you put a 160/60 then obviously the dynamics of the bike will be screwed....

I hope now you understand the point he was trying to make.....

I guess this can only be said after the RTR owners ride the FZ16 extensively...

If you'll do let us know the results !

Praful bro, I 'd recommend you to be placed on Xbhp s Pre Flame division ( a la Minority Report)!
But seriously the Fz16 comes with a 140/60-17 tyre as stock, nobody's talking about an upsize.
We will have to wait till people get to extensively ride the fz to get a proper idea about its handling, more so with respect to the razor sharp Rtr.

thanks praful .. what i mean is .. the weight and compound does matter but the more surface tension on the tyre the more grip increases but FLICKABILITY decreases .. eg if FZ16 consist of 100-120 max then it would have been good IMO .. try installing a 140 in RTR
my friends say that ill lose in a drag with a scooty pep

Well if the R15's handling is anything to go by, the FZ might be a good handler too....but RTR does its super super handling with pathetic TVS tyres. Keep that in mind too while comparing, if the RTR has a set of tyres that has been exclusively designed for it, then imagine how much better the handling will be!

i am going to change my first gen unicorn to a new bike from the 150cc segment and all these new launches have really confused every1.
i use my bike to go to college daily and ride the bike pretty well. like to challenge other bikes nd casually race. also i would like a bike which will be a good tourer too as some day i would love to take the bike and go for a long trip with my friends...
                              help me choose between:
1: Yamaha FZ16 (think its really gud but relatively new hence not sure)
2: TVS Apache RTR-Fi (just cant make up my mind to go for a tvs bike,
god knows why i just dont like the brand tvs)
3: Honda Unicorn ( really reliable and good)
What is that one characteristic of bike on which you can't compromise? It could be Handling, Engine, Low End Torque, Race Genes, looks..

true .. that is why i win most of the time when we are casually racing in the city from/to our college .. RTR wins from R15 and P220
                                imagine RTR with R15 tyres
