        • For a newbie rider - R15 or CBR250R?

          Hi guys!
I'm new to the world of riding, a total newbie, and now I'm facing a dilemma as to which bike to pick as my first ever?
I'm 5 feet 7 inches tall and weigh 63 Kgs.

My experience in bike riding: Almost Nil. I know how to shift gears and brake. The first bike I ever rode was few months back. It was a Bullet 500 and I managed to ride it without stalling. I'm an experienced car-driver so maybe that's why I was lucky while riding the bike for the first time. Then few weeks ago, I rode my friend's r15 old version without any stalling or any other problem. The only thing I'm a little 'not-too-confident' about is the hand and leg co-ordination. I guess once I get a bike of my own, I'll automatically get used to it. So yep, that's about it for my biking experience.
P.S: I had a scooter few years ago. Kinetic Blaze...you know..that big fat red scooter w/o gears?....if that counts :P

Now, the big question: It's time for me to get a bike of my own for the first time. Which one should it be? Please note that budget isn't exactly a problem, but I don't want to overspend on something which is way above my league.
I have two options in front of me.

          Yamaha YZF-R15 2.0 and Honda CBR250R
I'm confused with these two and here are my opinions about them

          R15
          - first love, very good looks, even after 4-5years I'll feel that it hasn't grown all that old on me.
          - lightweight. I rode one and found it comfortable. I was also able to flatfoot it completely (that is my feet touched the ground perfectly without tiptoeing)
          - the pillon seat ( as I'm gonna be a solo rider most of the time, this isn't an issue for me, infact I like the raised rear seat....but my friends disagree)
          - cost (cheaper than the 250R...yep, that's about it)

          CBR250R (friends recommend me this)
          - at first sight, the looks didn't really impress me, after looking at it 3-4years from now I might...just might think I should have gone for a better looking bike (please don't get me wrong, it has great looks, but to each his own opinion..right guys?)
          - a little heavyweight. One of my classmates just bought one and I tried sitting on it. I found it a little way too heavy for me.
          - I wasn't able to flatfoot the bike perfectly...I had to tip-toe a little.
          - friends say that the tyres are fat and it has excellent suspension, and that in the r15 I'll have problems and that weight doesn't matter.
They're all experienced riders, but in my case I'm totally new and incase I stumble or make a panic brake or if my bike slips...I'm pretty sure weight will be a factor right? And I want a bike I can control properly in such a condition.
          - ABS....that is another option.....they say it'll assist me since I'm new and all.

So yep, that's about it. Which bike do you experts think I should go for?
          Thank you!

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

            • hey Ameyk...Times are changing now & your first Bike should be atleast 250cc so go for CBR250 which will leave R15 eat dust...if money is not a problem go for ABS version...it's worth it!
