Don't buy a RD if the papers are not clean.. whatever the cost.. just keep away from it.

once the paper work is sorted out.. then its all about damage control..

checking what is the state of your RD...

what original parts are there, and what all has been changed on the RD

is your RD HT or LT.. is it sleeved or unsleeved.. how are the exhaust pipes.. air filter.. is the fuel pump working.. is the engine running smooth .. and the list goes on....

let me be frank ... you need to love the RD to love you back... and to love your RD you need to have deep pockets..

Just get the bike. Restoring it is not to bad a deal. Requires patience and money but can be done. You wont get original stuff but will get enough alternatives to run the bike properly. Keep it as a weekend ride. You will be robbed during your restoration and mechanics will take you for a ride if you dont know how to get your hands dirty. All part of the game . And the views that most hold that its a white elephant and will require continuous trips to the mechanics is just plain Crap. I have been riding one for over 16 years with just regular self maintenance. Get it and you ll thank yourself for the rest of your life.
